Image copyright

Hi! I noticed that you uploaded several images to Wikimedia Commons, stating that they were released under a Creative Commons copyright. However upon reviewing the images I saw that there is no indication that they were released in this manner. The general rule of thumb with images is to assume that unless clearly marked otherwise, that they are released under the most restrictive copyright, one that would prohibit anyone from using the images without the permission of their creator. Most images are not released under a copyright that would be compatible with Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons's guidelines, as the image's copyright would have to not only allow others to freely adapt, alter, and share the image, but also allow them to use the image for commercial purposes - even if the original creator did not intend them to be used in that manner. In most cases the creator will want to have some say in how the image is used and altered, to protect their legal rights over the images.

What this means is that unfortunately the images will need to be removed from Wikimedia Commons. I would also like for you to review this training module on uploading images and media, thanks. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 13:24, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
