I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome!

The messages below are standard warnings, but I wanted to stop by and say something a bit more friendly as well! Please feel free to contact me on my talk page or by email if you would like any advice from a more experienced editor. - Fayenatic (talk) 13:30, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Warning about user name

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (Societyofstjames) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. The article in question is Society of St James. Thank you. - Fayenatic (talk) 13:30, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

As you discovered, Wikipedia doesn't display images hosted on external sites. Subject to copyright, please consider using the Upload facility to upload a suitable media file. A logo can generally be uploaded to Wikipedia (but not to Creative Commons) under "fair use" rules. I'd be happy to help you sort this out. - Fayenatic (talk) 13:41, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; you are welcome to create a new account with a username that represents only you. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.
