- Yes, I have all permissions. Although I discussed what types of advice to include with my then-roommate, I composed all the text, myself.

User and talk pages
[edit]{{help}} How do I "talk" to someone? The link goes to a user's page but what then? By the way ... there is NO info about this in the help pages ... try searching for "talk" and see for yourself!
What do I need to put on my User Page? What should I NOT put on it? Why isn't there a help page about this either?
SoSaysSunny (talk) 21:12, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
- Hey SoSaysSunny! All you have to do is press "edit", or click "new section" then make a post like you did here. You don't have to put anything on your userpage, although it's usually nice to put something like your interests or perhaps what you want to help with on Wikipedia. There is a page for user pages right here if you want to read it. If you need anything else I'd be glad to help. --Coffee // have a cup // ark // 21:41, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
- Regarding help pages, Help:User page redirects to WP:User page, which are the guidelines for how to use your user page. Likewise, WP:Talk page gives an overview of talk pages, and WP:Talk page guidelines describes in more detail how to use them.
- In a nutshell, there are two varieties of talk pages:
- User talk pages, such as this one or User talk:C.Fred, which are intended for leaving messages to a specific user.
- Article (or category, project, etc.) talk pages. For example, Talk:Jay Leno is the talk page associated with the Jay Leno article. It's for discussing improvements to the article (but isn't a general forum for discussion of the topic).
- When you leave a user a message on their talk page, they will see a message notifying them that they have a new message. You may also add any page, including talk pages, to your watchlist; you can then see what changes are made to any of the pages you watch by looking at your watchlist.
- As for the exchange between users, if you leave a message on their talk page, most will reply on your talk page. Some may reply on their talk page, so you should watch their page for replies. They usually have a banner at the top of their page giving instructions; I have one on mine.
- Hope that helps! —C.Fred (talk) 21:43, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer be able to have them marked as minor by default. For more information on what a minor edit is, see WP:MINOR or feel to get in touch.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 23:02, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
