Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship winners, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Birr. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Flag Country Data

[edit]

Greetings, I noticed you've been at work creating missing historical flags and the placing them into articles where that variant is preferable. Rather than placing the long flagicon code ever time, you could request a change at the relevant country data parameter for an extra template. This makes the code easier to read and means others can easily use the flag variations as well (example). Best, CMD (talk) 03:35, 7 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Interested in Flags?

[edit]

I see that you are interested in flags and vexillography. What kind of flags are you working on now?--Jeromi Mikhael (talk) 06:02, 24 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jeromi Mikhael: Hello there. Well, at the moment I'm focusing on having the past versions of the standards used by the various Lieutenant Governors of the individual Canadian provinces created for Wikipedia. There are a lot of them, and, until recently, only two of them actually existed on this site, which is why I've been requesting the creation of the others in the Graphics Lab over the last few days. Why do you ask? Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 21:31, 25 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Irish symbols

[edit]

Hello. As far as I'm concerned there is no official coat of arms of any of the Irish provinces, as they are not administrative units and they have no offices or authorities. Therefore no Connacht coat of arms is 'the one'. On the internet the most common are [1][2] and maybe [3][4]. I thought about the eagle for a while or two. There are some decent ones at Commos, like here: Blason ville fr Bressuire (Deux-Sèvres).svg, Coat of arms of the House of Doria (double headed eagle).svg Coa Hungary Clan Balogh v2.svg czy Blason cambrai.svg. But I haven't decided yet. Arvedui89 (talk) 23:24, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Arvedui89: Hello, sorry for the late reply. Yes, that's understandable. All you can do is move at your own pace on this subject. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 22:50, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
At the moment I’m waiting for all excesable files to be deleted (pending question) to avoid multiplying work needed and not to confuse "judges" upon deletion request. Arvedui89 (talk) 06:29, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

i think i can help you creating svg-flags - perhaps you could provide elements of the flag as svg, either from commons (prefered) or from web (add 'filetype:svg' in google image search, e.g. 'british crown filetype:svg')
please specify ratio for each flag - i dont have much time but i will take care --Mrmw (talk) 09:12, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

it would be good if you would name the svg-files in your requests - to avoid renaming-requests later - e.g. 'British Flag Proposal 1748.svg' --Mrmw (talk) 05:26, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
also for the second request? to make it clear for other: "preferred filename: xyz.svg "--Mrmw (talk) 09:50, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
you recognized that both requests are done? --Mrmw (talk) 20:22, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

usage of flags

[edit]

hi, you dont use this flags in articels? --Mrmw (talk) 05:25, 12 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Mrmw: Hello, and sorry for not doing so initially, but I have added the Irish proposals to the List of flags of Ireland page, and one of them to the Cross-border flag for Ireland page as well. So sorry. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 14:50, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Mrmw: Actually, while we're here; since you helped me out with the Edinburgh Trader flag (and thanks for that), perhaps you'd be willing to help me with the creation of another flag relating to the POTC franchise? Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 13:35, 14 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
perhaps - let me see what to do --Mrmw (talk) 14:50, 14 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Mrmw: Thanks for replying. Well, the flag flag in question is the fictional "Flag of the East India Trading Company", which can be seen here (not to be confused with the East India Company, a different entity). Thoughts? Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 12:52, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Snow Lion Fenian:  Done see gallery --Mrmw (talk) 15:04, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Mrmw: That's great work, and thanks so much for doing that flag, and the other one as well. I do appreciate it. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 18:52, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tudor crown

[edit]

Hi! The Tudor crown article may have too many pictures. We should curate it and only include a few important examples. However the complete gallery as it is now can be recreated on Wiki Commons where we can have a big list. Thanks for all your work! Sodacan (talk) 23:07, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Sodacan: No problem, and you're welcome! So which flags do you propose we should remove from the gallery? Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 16:00, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't want to change it anymore, let's leave it as it is. Sodacan (talk) 21:41, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of yacht clubs, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mylor.

Can you put the tripolitania republic flag?

House flag, Cory Brothers

[edit]

I have an interesting historical flag from Wales, it belonged to the Cory Brothers coal company. I don't need it for anything and I usually skip over flags of small companies of negligible importance, but I think you might be interested in it. [5] Swiãtopôłk (talk) 00:39, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Swiãtopôłk: Thank you for bringing this flag to my attention! Yes, you'd be correct if you're assuming I tend to keep an eye out for flags related to both my native Ireland and other similar cultural areas (in this case Wales, as you said) that I think could go on WP. I'll certainly be making a request for an SVG file of the Cory Brothers flag to be created for WC whenever the time is right. So thanks again, and don't hesitate to inform me in future about other flags you think may be of interest. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 15:30, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Snow Lion Fenian: I also have Commissioners of Irish Lights in my notes, you probably already know that. [6][7] [8] [9] [10] Swiãtopôłk (talk) 10:56, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Swiãtopôłk: Thank you! Yes, I was indeed familiar with the existence of a flag for the Commissioners of Irish Lights. But thanks for giving me some specific and informative links! They'll certainly come in useful whenever I get down to requesting the creation of all those flags for WC, however long that may take. Thank you!
Say, on the subject of Irish maritime flags... you don't happen to have any images of the original house flag used by Irish Shipping Limited? I know you've already made a successful request for the second (and more well-known) flag of the company to be created. But the FOTW entry on Irish Shipping states that the company had a different flag originally (used circa 1941–1947), with the company initials surrounding the saltire in place of the provincial arms. Yet I haven't been able to find any exact visual depictions of that flag anywhere, which prevents me from making a request for its creation. Given that you have a lot more knowledge on house flags than I do, I'm wondering if you have any visual sources for this one? Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 15:57, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Snow Lion Fenian: Unfortunately, if I had that knowledge, I would have asked for both at once. Swiãtopôłk (talk) 16:22, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Swiãtopôłk: No worries, thanks for responding! Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 17:10, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Snow Lion Fenian: While looking for something else in RMG I found this for you: [11] [12] [13] [14] [15] Swiãtopôłk (talk) 11:22, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Swiãtopôłk: Wow, you've really gone above and beyond! My profuse thanks! Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 14:07, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ARKANSAS FLAG COMPETITION ENTRIES, 1913 AND PAN AMERICAN FLAG

[edit]
@Snow Lion Fenian: Hello, I have something for you again. American, historical and copyright free. [16] [17] and [18] Swiãtopôłk (talk) 18:47, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Swiãtopôłk: Wow, thank you! Yes, as you appear to have noticed, I have developed a particular interest in historically proposed U.S. state flags and getting them uploaded to WC. And the Pan-American flag of 1901 definitely falls into the category of miscellaneous historical American flags I'd want to have on Wikipedia as well. I'll certainly be making a request about the Arkansas proposals whenever I think the time is right for it (although given the amount of flags in it, it'll probably be a fair while before they're all present on WC). As for the PAE flag, since there's already a PNG version available, then I'll start things off by requesting for its conversion to SVG. Thanks again! Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 14:06, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Snow Lion Fenian: I'm glad I guessed what you'll like again. You can now send those from Arkansas without vectorization. I have made notes from the lockdown times, which are a mess and sometimes I discover something new. It will probably be a long time before I deal with the USA myself, I prefer countries such as Angola or Andorra, so you have more from my finds.

Isle of Skye

[edit]
@Snow Lion Fenian: [26] I have something for you again Swiãtopôłk (talk) 09:29, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Swiãtopôłk: Thanks again! Yes, as you were probably able to tell from some of my past Graphics Lab requests, I do have an interest in certain Scottish flags and having them brought to Commons. And of course, the Isle of Skye flag shortlist does fit in with my tendency to make requests about flag proposals that were finalists in official contests and such. Although, I'll probably need to create the Wikipedia page titled "Flag of the Isle of Skye" (which currently doesn't exist) before I even request for the runner-up designs to be created, and I don't know when I'll be able to do that. But I'll get there eventually. Props! Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 20:50, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

For the Royal Cypher of Queen Mary

[edit]

Hi Snow Lion Fenian. Regarding the royal cypher, I understand it's rather challenging to describe the picture in mind and it's not your fault. Don't worry. I wonder if you can have a quick sketch on how it should look like and send it to me. That would likely convey the idea much better and easier for both of us. Thanks a lot! ~~ J. Dann 04:19, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Cypp0847: Thanks for that! Well, since I have practically no art skills myself, I decided to instead upload a temporary version of your file (to be deleted when no longer needed) on which I've encircled the parts that need correcting. The three red circles indicate lines that should be going under instead of over, and vice-versa. Does that help? Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 13:24, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That should be alright now! You may take a look :) ~~ J. Dann 19:30, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Cypp0847: Yes, that's perfect! Thanks again for taking this on, and indeed for bearing with me through all the alterations. Much appreciated! Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 20:39, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
