- Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
- It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
- If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
- Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
- When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
- If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
- Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.
Happy editing! Cheers, Seawolf35 T--C 14:17, 25 December 2023 (UTC)
Notice of noticeboard discussion
[edit]There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Welcome user. Thank you.
For context, please see (inter alia):
Your username may possibly also suggest that you are laughing at other peoples' contributions.
Maybe, perhaps just avoid unnecessary WP:DRAMA and ask for it to be changed.
What do you think about this?
Shirt58 (talk) 🦘 10:14, 26 December 2023 (UTC)
- Yeah. I think that would help to avoid drama. There are controversies with some words in english and many in other languages. For example, in british english, cigarettes are referred to as “fags” which may cause some controversy due to the similarity with the f slur. The Scunthorpe problem didn’t seem to be a problem when I made the account, however it prevents my user page from being created by non admins. I will request a username change in a minute. Previous account?
[edit]Your account seems to demonstrate a high degree of understanding of the editing environment for a fresh account. Do you have a previous account? OhanaUnitedTalk page 05:37, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
- Had an account in the past around a year ago on a computer which I got logged out of and I didn’t have an email attached meaning that I couldn’t reset the password, which led to me losing the account. Then started editing as an IP editor occasionally every few months making some edits to articles. Then I made this account which I mostly use to help remove disruptive edits, unsourced content, original research and more. I do occasionally make some edits to articles. - Sorry to hear that. Would you mind disclosing the name of the previous account? OhanaUnitedTalk page 15:40, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
