Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
[edit]Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. -- ReyBrujo 21:59, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Re: Links for maps to video games.
[edit]And where it was decided? I would like to see the consensus. Until then, you should not readd them. Thanks. -- ReyBrujo 22:00, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Jay said "You know what, you're right. You're now unblocked - feel free to re-add the link. If someone removes it, initiate a discussion on their talk page.
I don't know how high up the food chain he is, but he had the ability to unblock my account and he thinks Maps are relevent.
Who cares who owns the GameFAQs website or the Maps one. The point is the content, not the person who created the site. If GameFAQs has a FAQ for the game then good, put a link. If NESMaps has a map for the game that is relevant then good, put a link.
- Well, first of all, I hope you are not comparing GameFAQs with nesmaps.com. GameFAQs is supported by a notable company in the video game area. GameFAQs links are implicitely allowed in Wikipedia as there is a template for adding them: {{GameFAQs}}. Others like IGN and GameSpot external links are widely accepted. If you want to have your link accepted, either discuss and get consensus in the talk page of the articles where you are adding them, or go to the WikiProject about video games and ask for opinions. -- ReyBrujo 22:18, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- Regarding this edit, I want to know 1) who unblocked you, 2) which account, this one has never been blocked, 3) Where you were told that, and 4) If someone removes it, initiate a discussion on their talk page. it does not mean you can add it back. -- ReyBrujo 22:23, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
You mean: "feel free to re-add the link" does not mean I can feel free to re-add the link???? What are you talking about? What did Jay mean when he told me that then? Please explain becaues I am really confused.
- He meant: "Add the link. If it is removed, discuss that in the user's talk page." Until the discussion is settled, the link should stay out. I suggest you to click here, put a title and explain why nesmaps.com should stay as external link. If the WikiProject Computer and video games agrees, your link won't be removed. Until then, if it is not me, it will be someone else removing your link, which only disrupts Wikipedia. -- ReyBrujo 22:34, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Reply: Thanks, I am new to Wikipedia, and did not know how to submit a request like that. Thank you for showing me how to do that. I have done so, and I will be happy to abide by what decision they come to. Snesmaster 22:54, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Re: Map Links for Video Games
[edit]Yes, apparently it is fine for the WikiProject to add the maps for the Zelda games. Note that there may be copyright issues as you are building maps with screenshots from the game (which may be why GameFAQs don't allow maps built with images). When adding, use a summary pointing to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Computer and video games#Should links to Maps for video games be allowed? so that others will know why it is included. And add a section in the talk page explaining about the discussion, to prevent reverts. Good luck! -- ReyBrujo 22:48, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- Just edit the article, add the external link, and put the following in your edit summary:
. -- ReyBrujo 23:53, 5 November 2006 (UTC)Adding nesmaps external link per [[Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Computer and video games#Should links to Maps for video games be allowed?|discussion here]]. Please discuss there before reverting. Thanks
