Speedy deletion nomination of User:Smearg
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice that User:Smearg, a page that you created, has been tagged for deletion. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It is unambiguous vandalism or an obvious hoax. (See section G3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please do not introduce inappropriate pages to Wikipedia; doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.
- It appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free Web hosting service. (See section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion.)
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ―Susmuffin Talk 23:22, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

Contested deletion
[edit]This page should not be speedily deleted because... (Hello. I am brand new and just figuring out how all of this stuff works. I do not know exactly what to put in my page. I found one humorous userbox, but am still working on it. Most of my edits outside my userpage were to pages in need. I just wanted to mostly copy edit and clean things up.) --Smearg (talk) 23:34, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

Request reason:
Hello. I apologize if I did something wrong. I thought my userpage was just for me to edit as I pleased. I was just figuring out how everything worked. Outside my userpage, I think I have done some good edits. I would like to continue if that is alright. I promise not to mess around on my userpage anymore. Is there a feature where I can test out how things look without making edits I could use instead?Smearg (talk) 23:40, 18 August 2019 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Right, you just happen to on the same IP address as Corkythehornetfam (talk · contribs). I'm sure that's just a coincidence. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 05:24, 19 August 2019 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- There is a general Sandbox and you also have (or can create) a personal sandbox(see the upper right corner of the screen if on a computer). To me it looked as if you were trying to build up your edit count to gain extended-confirmed status and edit protected articles. Anyway, what productive contributions do you want to make if unblocked? 331dot (talk) 00:04, 19 August 2019 (UTC)
I would like to mostly edit movie articles. Eventually editing things like poor plot synopses and expanding articles that are small. I would also like to edit sports articles and work on game summaries. To start, I just want to mostly edit small things like spelling, grammar, sentence structure, etc. to get my feet wet, because I don't know how everything works yet. I also think I would enjoy working with formatting. Smearg (talk) 00:16, 19 August 2019 (UTC)
- Were you trying to build up an edit count? 331dot (talk) 00:20, 19 August 2019 (UTC)
- I didn't know there was an edit count, or that there was an advantage to more edits. I was messing around with my userpage absentmindedly. I thought that page was just for me to mess around with. I didn't know about the sand box you mentioned Smearg (talk) 00:41, 19 August 2019 (UTC)
