Welcome!

Hello, Smarfeddin, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  I also noticed your new page, Heather Sharfeddin. Although I certainly appreciate your contribution, wikipedia can't accept copyrighted work. Judging from your username, you are potentially the person being written about. Could you confirm or deny that? It would help to figure out copyright, among other things.--Kchase02 T 06:27, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've proposed the article be deleted for now (don't worry, deletion won't happen for a full five days).--Kchase02 T 06:36, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Kchase02. I have edited the page but left the warning up just in case there are still problems. If you could look over it and let me know that would be great. The article is not about me but is about my mother, and I have her permission to use the same biography seen on her authors blog. I don't know if that clears anything up? Thank you for being so helpful Cheers Smarfeddin-
You're welcome and thanks for responding to my message. I couldn't find the email address to send licensing info to wikipedia, so I just rewrote it (rather lamely; you might see if you can expand on it).--Kchase02 T 08:39, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
On second thought, my rewrite sucks. Let me see if I can't find the necessary address for your mother to just grant permission.--Kchase02 T 08:43, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No luck so far. You might also look at WP:BIO and see if she's really notable enough to be in wikipedia, anyway. I must admit I'm somewhat skeptical. If you're interested in making other contributions here, the community portal is a good place to start. Cheers!--Kchase02 T 21:03, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Last attempt

[edit]

I have decided to try once more to make the article on Heather Sharfeddin fit Wikipedia standards. I have talked to the author and she has agreed to give enough publishable information in biography format to hopefully fill two thirds of an 8x11 page. If for some reason there are still issues, then I will look into other ways of contributing to Wikipedia. Smarfeddin-— Preceding unsigned comment added by Smarfeddin (talkcontribs)

Sounds good. Notability isn't a hard and fast policy, but merely a guideline, so it's (somewhat) flexible. Feel free to drop me a line if you have questions or need help with wikipedia more generally or just leave a message here.--Kchase02 T 04:38, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Reorganized and wikified the article with some external links and a category. I agree the notability case is borderline, but the author squeezes in under "published authors, editors and photographers who received multiple independent reviews of or awards for their work." I found several reviews of her novels on the web and also linked to a couple interviews. Casey Abell 16:46, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
