Speedy deletion of AGORACOM

[edit]

A tag has been placed on AGORACOM requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. nneonneo talk 17:32, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agoracom

OK, I see what you mean. As it stands, I didn't see any assertion of notability in the article itself (which is grounds for a speedy deletion), but I didn't check the company out before tagging -- that would be my fault. I concur that your company is notable enough to deserve an article on that basis, but before you recreate the article, I strongly recommend that you read a few of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, specifically notability for companies, conflict of interest and neutral point-of-view. I'm recommending these policies because it seems you have a personal connection to the company, which can make it harder to write a neutral article on your company. Good luck, and I'm sorry for the mix-up. nneonneo talk 20:02, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What you need to do is show notability using reliable, third-party sources -- news articles about your company (which are not sourced from company press releases), Intel's case study (but note that notability isn't inherited -- that is, the fact that a notable entity is associated with your company does not mean that your company is automatically notable), books written about your company (or including non-trivial coverage of your company), etc. are all good source material for an article. I would discourage using your company's about page, or indeed any page from your company website in writing or sourcing the article, since such material is not usually considered reliable source material. For reference, you may want to visit the Wikipedia articles on other companies to get a feel for NPOV style and content (preferably Good articles or Featured articles, which represent Wikipedia's best work). Happy editing! nneonneo talk 20:30, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Speedy at Agoracom

[edit]

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles you created, as you did with Agoracom. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

  1. Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
  2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 19:49, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on User:Smallcapir, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

AGORACOM Is The Site Retail Investors Famously Use To Fight Takeovers.

Agoracom is the website that retail investors famously used to fight the takeover of junior miner Aurelian Resources Inc in the summer of 2008 and well as the proxy battle of Noront shares in the fall of 2008. In both cases, the AGORACOM message boards were used by shareholders to 'plot their strategy' against hostile take-overs. AGORACOM has been at the forefront of redefining "shareholder activism".
