Drum kit vs Drums
You keep changing drums to Drum Kit on this album article, but I can tell you that the drums I hear on this cd are very solid, booming drums, like timpani or handmade drums, not part of a drum kit. The band mentioned timpani and so do a number of reviews, and that drum is not part of a "kit". I don't know if you are using some robot to create wiki links, but you may want to listen to the music before making these kinds of edits. Ebonyskye (talk) 23:13, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- "You keep changing" insinuates that I've made the same edit repetitively. I've made it twice, and have just since repaired the link to the correct article which is non-plural. A repair you could have also made as you are very correct in your interpretation of the article. However, one does not need to listen to the actual album to know something is linked incorrectly.
- As of this message there are still over 7600 articles which link to the Plural "Drums" which redirects to "Drum". I've edited several articles with pipe links to drums as well: drums|Drummer drums|drumkit drums|drum & etc... and that's just one instrument / group of instruments. Using AWB I'm not going to repair 7600 links in a single day (and I started with a list of over 11500 pages that linked to drums) so it stands to reason that if someone reverts the edit rather than correct it AWB is going to reload it and offer it to me again to disambiguate or repair. Your welcome to help it's a wiki, Happy editing. Slysplace talk ♫ 00:24, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
OK. Thanks. I just didn't feel comfortable reverting twice and thought the plural didn't matter since the link was working. 'Tis all good. Maybe when I get some time I can learn how to help. I haven't a clue about the various applications and bots scripts used here, but intend to read more about them, when work isn't eating up all my time. Ebonyskye (talk) 08:27, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
Buddah/Buddha
Please, please don't autocorrect this spelling issue - there is a record label, Buddah Records, which uses the "incorrect spelling". It was an important label and is mentioned on hundreds of pages. If this is part of a list of common spelling errors which other users will be autocorrecting, let me know where to go to have it removed. Chubbles (talk) 13:53, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
- AWB uses regex to auto correct typos, see Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/Typos. Warning slow loading large page, Buddah is listed as <Typo word="Buddha" find="\b[Bb]uddah\b" replace="Buddha"/> Be very careful if you edit this, and do not remove it. I've done my best to avoid the auto correct I apologize if one has slipped thru. It might be best if you investigate nobots tags at Template:Bots although I'm unsure if this can be applied to a specific spelling issue. You can also request help in the discussion of both of the above pages but I'm sure removal of the regex expression is not going to happen as Buddha redirects to Buddha and over 100 article pages link to Buddha. Hope I've helped, happy editing. Slysplace talk ♫ 23:42, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Capitalisation and regional variation
Hey, I notice you corrected some of the DAB links in Propane Nightmares. I just wanted to point out that you should not be changing the capitalisation on instruments in lists, unless they are the first item in that list and not preceded my any other text following the last line break or full stop, according to MOS:CAPS. Also, you should not be changing the national variety of English used within an article without discussing it first, per WP:ENGVAR. The particular edit you made that I am referring to is the change of synthesiser
to Synthesizer
which violates both of these. May I suggest updating the regex you are using to change it instead to synthesiser
, this conforms better to WP:MOS. All the best – Ikara talk → 18:59, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
