Saves me from having to prowl those websites of NS-memorabilia that tend to make my skin crawl more than the real stuff. Good to hear from you, dear DJ! I don't know a lot about the Reichskommissariat Ukraine and Case Blue, but I understand the Nazis were in Makeyevka by 1942. Maybe these tickets were found on POWs or fallen soldiers in Stalingrad before their bearers could use them in occupied territory. I may be very wrong, but I did do some more searching in German too, and found no second "Makejewka" or anything else pointing to another explanation.

On a completely unrelated note (unrelated, unless you hang out at WP:RD/H it seems :-( ...), I was about to drop a message on your talk page, because I don't wish to enter debates at WT:RD. Here I am, breaking one of our core policies, and yes, I detect a rank odor from under the bridge. In 99% of similarly smelling cases, I completely ignore the bait, and also those who take it. This is what I recommend here too. As difficult as it is, and as upsetting and polemical some of the arguments are, it's just not worth any serious volunteer's bother. Just my opinion, YMMV of course. (And I wouldn't complain if the thread got removed either, I'm just not up for another freedom-of-speech debate). ...actually, after reconsidering, it was wrong to say it's "not worth any serious volunteer's bother". It might well be worth trying to educate here too. It's just very difficult to get it right in debates like this. On rare occasions, someone thoughtful will land a lucky punch, and no one else will post anything after that, but usually the mess just continues, no matter how well you argue. ....and I'm not as good as I want to be, so I keep trying. :-) You're so kind to advise me, and I do take it to heart, to keep in mind. Hearts and minds is what keeps me on the, what shall we call it, task force? of the Humanities RD, with my belief—hopefully not mistaken—that it's widely read. Think, as I do, about the paradigm of The Four Sons...though that's "family," from which trolls are excluded, being a separate species. Yes, I spend (and waste) precious time, but I'm not alone; I just try to step in with what I have to offer. It's a constant (however intermittent) refining process, but that's life! Bottom line: you're right, and I'll take heed as I keep on keepin' on. I do hope those who read what I wrote on the RD talk will take a more active role (as Eron already did) as I'm not a vigilante, only one determined but overloaded person. OTOH, you can understand from what I've written to you here (and will respond there later), in antagonistic queries about Israel and the Jews that aren't removed for outright trolling, I don't agree with SteveBaker that these should be ignored. It's a great approach, and I shall keep reminding myself that the four sons show their faces in the responses as well :-) I certainly don't think there is anything wrong in setting things straight, and usually find myself agreeing with what you write. I guess I was more concerned about your individual sanity (and mine; empathy is painful) than about the best collective approach (that hardly ever works smoothly anyway). Oh! Is your browser Windows IE or other—and if another, which? The GFH website is undergoing evaluation for revision and I'm on the committee that's getting underway in fits and starts. I have a particular and undisguised vested interest as my work in English is a large part of its content, particularly the online archives. We'd been advised in the past that the site is incompatible (or perhaps just flaky) with Firefox, Netscape, and whatever else is becoming a popular alternative to IE (whose Version 7 barely works on our home computers :-/ so I'd like to solicit some testimony for that. -- Deborahjay (talk) 13:21, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Dexter's Tune

Every time I see Awakenings I get affected by that tune, and I always intend to track it down, but never followed it up. So thanks for the link. It cost me $4.95 for 3 pages, but it was worth it. I've now played it 20 times, with nary a tear in sight. One gloomy day, though, when everything's going catastrophically wrong in my life, I'm sure it'll be different. My RfA Thank you for participating in my "RecFA", which passed with a final tally of 153/39/22. There were issues raised regarding my adminship that I intend to cogitate upon, but I am grateful for the very many supportive comments I received and for the efforts of certain editors (Ceoil, Noroton and Lar especially) in responding to some issues. I wish to note how humbled I was when I read Buster7's support comment, although a fair majority gave me great pleasure. I would also note those whose opposes or neutral were based in process concerns and who otherwise commented kindly in regard to my record. I recognise that the process itself was unusual, and the format was generally considered questionable - and I accept that I was mistaken in my perception of how it would be received - but I am particularly grateful for those whose opposes and neutrals were based in perceptions of how I was not performing to the standards expected of an administrator. As much as the support I received, those comments are hopefully going to allow me to be a better contributor to the project. Thank you. Very much.
