RD talk page
[edit]Hi Sluzzelin. Not sure what's going on with the RD talk page at the moment. First a bot archived the two most recent discussions, but not the one about medical advice because it had a "do not archive" tag slapped on it for some reason. You rightly deleted that tag, but now the medical advice discussion is still there but the two more recent discussions are not, which doesn't look right. What can be done about this? Many thanks, --Viennese Waltz 16:45, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- Seas, Viennese Waltz! Looking at the history page, I see lowercase sigmabot III archived those two threads on January 27, a bit more than a week after the last person had added anything to these discussions (as the bot should, I think, though I'm sure one could adjust the length). It was today, quite a bit after that archiving, that I removed the 'do not archive until 2038' tag. I'm guessing the next time the bot looks at WT:RD (by tomorrow), that thread will get archived too. If not, I can always archive it manually. But I don't think my removal of the tag has triggered anything, so far. --Sluzzelin talk 17:06, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks Sluzzelin, sounds good to me. --Viennese Waltz 10:51, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you, Viennese Waltz. It just dawned on me, that the bot probably won't be removing that thread on medical advice for another week, since the last edit in that thread was done yesterday (my removal of the tag) ... So I archived it manually; WT:RD is a clean slate now. ---
- Thanks Sluzzelin, sounds good to me. --Viennese Waltz 10:51, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

Navigating through template dates
[edit]Hi, I saw your reply on In The News. The way I find blurbs on a certain date (and this works for pretty much every page) is to go to the View History, press "Older ..." (just to get a longer URL), and you get something like this:
By changing the offset= date (20210526 is the date, I don't know what the rest of the numbers are), you can then see the lastest revisions as of that date. So to get to 26-10-2019 I replaced those first few numbers with "20191026", and to get the later version I just put it a few days ahead.

Outward Spiraling Paths
[edit]Have I started Game 2 correctly? Is it okay for the blurb for the previous one? There was nothing there so I made something up but I'm not sure if that was what you had in mind. Difficultly north (talk) The artist formerly known as Simply south 16:02, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
- Hey Difficultly north, thanks for stopping by. The blurb is just fine. I did have something else in mind for the start though, namely, only to fill in cell FF (by random article). The next three separate moves should then occupy the other three paths' starting points (FG, GF, GG), and those three words may or may not associate with adjacent cells, may or may not be chosen randomly, or can even be any old word the editor feels like putting there. From then on (i.e. starting with the fifth word) the normal rules apply.
- This is how the first grid started: First I started it with the randomly selected Dapitan, then someone added "Captain" (by association), someone else added "Tea" (completely arbitrarily because they are fond of tea), and then a third person added "List of California State University, Fullerton people" (probably by means of the random article button).
- Sorry for not writing that very clearly. Take care! ---Sluzzelin talk 20:36, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
- Difficultly north, I now emptied the cells FG, GF and GG accordingly, and added a semi-associated word to cell FG. One reason I'm sort of insisting on the intended rules is that I find it more interesting having some of the paths start with completely unrelated words. I hope you don't mind. Happy Holidays! ---Sluzzelin talk 12:06, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
- I've now had a new idea again that spunoff from the above. Tell me what you think. Wikipedia:Department of Fun/Word Association/Four spirals. Difficultly north (talk) The artist formerly known as Simply south 12:38, 25 December 2021 (UTC)

Some more crocheted marine life for you
[edit]Hi, Sluzzelin! I came across this fine image of crocheted "hyperbolic kelp" on the page Hyperbolic geometry (nobody knows what I was doing there). True origin of polenta
[edit]The true origin of polenta is the americas, im not talking about mazie porridge, but polenta a mush from corn.. it was first made by the natives and brought to europe by christopher Columbus with directions on how to prepare it, in many countries in south america we still eat polenta and it is also called polenta, if you want to write history do it properly please.. this is not from italy but stolen from native america!! 2A02:A447:77DE:1:6440:FC78:475A:132E (talk) 13:09, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
- If you wish to introduce such a dramatic change to an article on a locally defined dish that had been re-invented within its local tradition, like many dishes (and it's not a particularly complex dish either), then you should add sources saying exactly what you wrote about polenta. If you wish to discuss it, then you should do this at Talk:Polenta, not here. (And "mazie" was my bad typo for maize; I wasn't thinking about the amazing Maisie Williams). ---21:19, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

- I haven't checked the histories, nor will I. But even if you got it right, factually, there's an implication there, insinuation even, which won't de-escalate what has already taken away far too much time and energy from a lot of editors. In my opinion, of course. ---Sluzzelin talk 01:31, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
