I'm tired of life. I'm losing my mind.
Self-harm Article, etc..
[edit]Hi Slunky, I spotted your comment about iout on the self harm page. Before re-adding it, I thought I should ask why you feel this link should not be added when similar organisations are also in this list? Kindest regards -
- Wikipedia is not a billboard for organizations. I've removed mine for this very reason. iout provides about a page of information on SI. The rest is publicity. It's better suited for a search engine. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. Do you see references to organizations outside the encyclopedia in it? -slunky
There is a whole list of them in external links. Most of iout is about SI, with some information about related problems... much like some of the others: EQUILIBRIUM, LifeSIGNS (who have a site similar to ours), Recover Your Life, which is essentially a forum. iout run free support groups in the home counties for people who self-harm and I think being listed in Wikipedia is as valid as the others. What's your organisatio btw? - slicksps
- Don't take this personally, but iout does not provide a broad range of unique information on self-harm. No doubt you'll disagree. Equilibrium doesn't belong there, so if you want to, be bold and remove it. I have several times. LifeSIGNS and Recover Your Life (as I stated on the self-harm talk page) are both long-time well respected sites within the self-injury community and they deserve a mention. iOut does not fit either of these. My sit
No I'm not taking it personally, I will admit, information on iout's site is not really any different from any other, including the extensive information already supplied on wikipedia. I thought rather than just re-add it to discuss why you feel it should be removed. You present a good case I'll admit, and you're not being hypocritical about it. I do feel however that our services are unique. The website itself shows nothing new (as yet ;) ) but the support groups which have been running for over two years though fairly localised have proven beneficial. The media attention has also started lunging us forward as opposed to the small steps we've made so far. I will refrain from re-adding it at this point as I'm sure despite this information it will just be removed again, but please note, if I do re-add it in the future, please check the new content before making your next judgement as our next major addition to the site will be truly unique, informative, and incredibly useful ;) - Found your site btw, good luck with it. ~ Slicksps
- I always re-review the site. That's why I kept removing Equillibrium until they corrected their first aid information. If you add iout again, and will help keep the links portion of the article tame and short, I won't remove it again.
Deal ;) ~ Slicksps
