RFA thanks

Thanks so much for your support on my RFA, which closed successfully this morning with a result of (64/3/3). I will be stepping lightly at first trying to make sure I don't mess up too badly using the tools. Any further advice/guidance will be gratefully accepted. I hope I will live up to your trust! Teke's RfA thanks

Thank you for your support of my RfA, which has passed with a final tally of 76/1/1. With this overwhelming show of support and approval I am honored to serve Wikipedia in the task charged to me and as outlined in my nomination. Happy editing to you! Teke (talk) 17:40, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

My RfA

Thanks!

Thank you very much for your comments on my recent Request for Adminship. The request was ultimately unsuccessful - which wasn't entirely surprising - and so I'll be taking special care to address the concerns that were raised before running again.

I'm anxious to improve my work generally, even if it doesn't result in a future adminship, and so please don't hesitate to leave any further feedback or comments at my talk page. Thanks!

Long-Overdue RfA Thanks from Alphachimp

Thanks for your support in my not-so-recent RfA, which was successful with a an overwhelmingly flattering and deeply humbling total of 138/2/2 (putting me #10 on the RfA WP:100). I guess infinite monkey theorem has been officially proven. Chimps really can get somewhere on Wikipedia.

With new buttons come great responsibility, and I'll try my best to live up to your expectations. If you need assistance with something, don't hesitate to swing by my talk page or email me (trust me, I do respond :)). The same goes for any complaints or comments in regard to my administrative actions. Remember, I'm here for you.

(Thanks go to Blnguyen for the incredible photo to the right.) alphaChimp laudare 01:11, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

I hope the move goes well!. alphaChimp laudare 01:11, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

September Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. The proposals page has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  2. Since the program in development Appretiaion week is getting lots of good ideas, it now has its own subpage.
  3. The September 2006 Council elections will open for nominations on 18 September 2006. The voting will run from 25 September 2006 until 30 September 2006. If you wish to be a candidate or a member of the elections staff, please list yourself!
  4. The new Esperanza front page design has but put up - many thanks to all who worked on it!
  5. TangoTango has written a script for a bot that will list new members of Esperanza, which will help those who welcome new Esperanzains greatly!

Pilot (House) Lead

You added a task to the Pilot (House) talk page saying that it was required that all FAs have at least three paragraphs for introduction sections to the article. This however untrue as the featured article criteria makes no mention of a requirement for three paragraphs. However, WP:LS does state that the length of the lead depends on the article's overall length. I'm not sure how to check how many "characters" are in the article. But I believe that the lead is at it's correct length. The Filmaker 04:48, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Martha Stewart

I am writing this message to ask you a simple question. Is or is not Martha Stewart a convicted criminal? I am aware that in this article it has been written that she has served jail time. It is to my understanding that one who serves jail time in the United States of America has to be convicted of a crime to do so. Solely on the topic of Martha's criminal history do I make these accusations. Understand that I am not being biased what so ever and that I do not wish to undermine Martha Stewart's credibility. Based strictly only upon the facts did I make this assumption. Thanks for your time.

JebetheFaithful 04:28, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

You never answered the question my friend. I think that it is important to put the positive and negative facts about a person in their article. I think that many people would agree that in order to keep Wikipedia strong we need to stick with the facts. I have violated no policy by stating what is true. You on the other hand have replied to me with a disrespectful and sarcastic message. You have only hurt your own self-image along with those that you work with. I hope that the next message you send me will not contain any traces of immature or foolish antics.JebetheFaithful 04:53, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
If it is true and sincere, of course I will. I am glad that we are finally on a median. JebetheFaithful 05:11, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Thank you for participating in my RfA, which passed with a tally of 66/11/5. I learned quite a bit during the process, and I expect to be learning a lot more in the days ahead. I will be taking things slowly (and doing a lot of re-reading), but I hope you will let me know if there is anything I can do to improve in my new capacity. -- Merope Talk 13:39, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:UNavarra logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:UNavarra logo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Nilfanion (talk) 16:01, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Re Caribbean stubs

To be honest, I'm not quite convinced. All six countries that make up the Greater Antilles already have their own stub types, and all but one of them (the Caymans) already have separate geo-stubs, too. The way things are working at the moment with the Stub-sorting, it's likely that just about every country will have its own separate stub type soon, even if the templates feed back into a larger category for now (for example Haiti-geo-stub still feeds into the Caribbean geography stubs category). So I'm not sure that splitting the antilles into greater and lesser would really be that useful. Grutness...wha? 23:30, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

My RfA thanks

Hi, Slgrandson! Thank you for supporting me in my RfA, which succeeded with a final tally of 75/0/1! I hope I can live up to the standards of adminship, and I will try my best to make Wikipedia a better place. Feel free to send me a message if you need any assistance. :)

--Coredesat 16:33, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome. :)

I have discovered that a user calling himself Wacki has been posting links to his own website called logical science (dot) com. I note this is a clear violation of Wikipedia guidelines and have therefore removed the links and told Wacki on his talk page why they have been removed. There is clear proof that Wacki is the owner of this website in his Blogger profile. Just thought I would give the heads-up to what is going on in case he attempts to repost the links and an edit war ensues. Thanks --TheCenturion 18:31, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Edit counter

How do you get the edit counter on your page to work? I get to the tool and it says to save and then bypass my cache. Unfortuanetly, I have no idea what that means. Can you tell me a simple step-by-step way to do it? Am I supposed to copy and paste the text somewhere and go from there or do something else. Please message me when ever you have the time. Thanks. Thank you for participating in my recent RfA. Unfortunately consensus was not reached, and the nomination was not successful. However, I appreciate that you took the time to comment, and I did pay close attention to your thoughts, as I find it a valuable thing to understand how I am perceived by others in the Wikipedia community. Though the RfA was unsuccessful, I intend to continue contributing in a positive manner to Wikipedia, and if there is anything that I can do in the future to help further address your concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. --Elonka 09:54, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

To help you with your welcoming of new Esperanza members...

... TangoTango has kindly written up a script that once a week lists all of the new members to Esperanza. The list can be found at User:Tangotango/New members of Esperanza; it is updated once a week, and will show all of the new members since the last update. If you're not sure if everyone who joined the past week has been welcomed, that is a great place to check! I hope that helps you in your welcome, and thank you for making a point to greet new Esperanzians! -- Natalya 18:41, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Universo HQ it's not a test!!!!

Please, why did you put the Universo HQ to be deleted? I was not finished when you did it. It's the best site to talk about brazilian comic books and has also a english version. Please, give one more look at the link and remove it or discuss with me. It's very unfair at this way....I'm here to be a wiki too...

I understand your cause—you're truly here to write articles for us—but, alas, the low Alexa ranking (per WP:WEB) caused me to send the page to WP:AFD. As always, feel free to discuss your views there or at the article's talk page. Good luck. --Slgr@ndson (page - messages - contribs) 18:47, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Your comments against a vandal

I saw that you had posted your page in the Intervention page that Brainyshane640 was attacking you. I looked at the comments you made on his talk page, and I'd have to say that it doesn't look good the way you had made that threat. How can I accept you as an administrator in the future if you're going to up to people and make comments like that? I only speak out of concern here. :: Colin Keigher 18:44, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for the constructive criticism in your neutral vote on my RfA, which passed with a final tally of (56/0/2). Be assured, I will take your concerns into consideration.

Thank you for your edit to list of animated feature films

You've somehow noticed a recent film that I and everybody else had missed. :) Thanks. I noticed that your interests lie along this area. If you should ever come across another film which isn't on the list but should be (or on the other list that I maintain, list of stop-motion films), I would be grateful if you would add it in or inform me about it. Thanks again. Esn 04:43, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

November Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

Posting on my page and all that about me vandalising is fine, but I have to inform you that I was away at the time and persons unknown within my household (*Sigh*) ie: my brither, logged in under my user and changed things on our school info page. This has happened before. I apologise and it will not happen again.

Thanks for your diligence warning users for speedy delete articles, but I'm the one that put the db-copyvio on that page. I removed the warning from my talk page. ju66l3r 22:27, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

You have been awarded these Jelly Beans from -The Doctor- Please, enjoy them.

Here are some Jelly beans for you. I love jelly beans as they have sugar in them and most people love sugar. But on the other hand just receiving somthing from somone else just makes you happy and also just giving this to you makes me happy. I hope to spread the jelly beans all over Wikipedia, so here, you can have this lot. Please enjoy them. (I like the lime ones.)
