AfC notification: Draft:Press Conference of the Premier of the State Council has a new comment
[edit]Hi,
In our discussion at Talk:Sino-Soviet border conflict, you made reference to the subject article. This has recently been copied to En Wiki from the Zh Wiki. It is in an incredibly poor state almost to the point of being nonsense (making no sense). I have considered working on this and made a translation of the Zh article here to User:Cinderella157/sandbox, but this is unformatted. While I have considered working on this, I am at a very great language disadvantage. However, I saw that you have a user box that identifies you as a speaker of Chinese. Would you consider collaborating on improving the article? Cinderella157 (talk) 03:28, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- I would be very happy to assist in improving that article. Should I refine that draft or use it directly to work on the original article? Skylisan (talk) 07:16, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- We should probably work on this in a sandbox first. It is possibly good to keep the raw translation in my sandbox and copy the existing article into another sandbox. We could then work on the existing article in that sandbox. Do you want to work on it in your sandbox or would you like me to make another sandbox for the work in progress. You can actually create more than one sandbox. Cheers. Cinderella157 (talk) 09:12, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- I copied the original article here: User:Skylisan/sandbox. We will first work on User:Cinderella157/sandbox for improving translation, and then copy it in User:Skylisan/sandbox?
- And as for the original article, it relies on several self-published sources. Upon checking, I found that these materials are sourced from a China Central Television program, and I wonder if these should be included in the article or removed? Skylisan (talk) 11:11, 3 April 2024 (UTC)

- If they are self-published, they don't meet WP:RS, though the original sourcing, if it can be verified, might be used. This is where I am at a language disadvantage. Cinderella157 (talk) 10:42, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
- I tried tracking down where this occurred from some places mentioned. When I searched on these, they put me everywhere but near the border. One of the first things I think we need to do is establish where this occurred, with some usable links for places and possibly an open-sourced map that we can use later on. This would certainly help me contexturalise the events. Cinderella157 (talk) 23:40, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
- I pinned some major locations on google earth, based on a veteran blog(a very useful website for this article by the way) and a map I found showing position locations. The other positions mentioned in this article is impossible to geolocate since the map is poorly drawn and wasn't scaled.
- The google earth map can be viewed here: https://earth.google.com/earth/d/1CNYkAcCT8sM13OEffioimTBbjI--Zwe1?usp=sharing Skylisan (talk) 05:47, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
- This will make things a lot easier. Cinderella157 (talk) 09:07, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
- I have completed proofreading the translation and removed unreliable sources. Skylisan (talk) 08:31, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- I will start to have a closer look at it then. But certainly not tomorrow. Thank you. Cinderella157 (talk) 09:18, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
