Buffalo lists

Hey, no probl with the Buffalo stuff. I only voice the concerns because I know we can make these lists high quality. As far as the draft list goes, that was just the consensus we reached; I know Tony has a problem with that, but we can't make exceptions for things of that nature, because it's a slippery slope. I ran into that problem with List of family relations in the National Hockey League over whether to include Manon Rheaume; she only played in a preseason game, which we were not qualifying as having played in an actual game, so she had to stay out, regardless of how notable she is. I'll try to take a look at the Buffalo player list sometime this week, and I'll get back to you; I perused it quickly and it looks good, just like the Devils list (which I'm assuming you based it off of). Keep up the good work; if every team had one or two people like you, we'd have 30 featured topics for all 30 teams. Anthony Hit me up... 08:03, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Hello WikiProject Ice Hockey/Participant

I am an advisor to the National Hockey League. With your help over the next few months I plan to review and correct any information on wikipedia relating to the National Hockey League, its franchises, players, executives and partership organisations. I am here to provide you with information. Your work is appreciated. --NHLsource 18:17, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Re: Small world

Hahah yeah I remember that like it was yesterday... I kept reverting people over & over until it was finally over, then I took all the credit for it. Yeah I would have only been on Wikipedia for about 2 months at that point so I seemed to think it was a big deal at the time. But yeah that is one insane coincidence, that's pretty cool... by the way I laughed when I saw the mark you put on my user page. Croat Canuck Say hello or just talk 02:30, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

wow the more I read that the more I'm weirded out... just I guess I beat you to the punch then, eh? Now if only my Leafs seized the day like that! :)... But I'll add that interesting tidbit to my user page now, its worth mentioning. Croat Canuck Say hello or just talk 02:32, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi, as you may or may not know, some of us at WP:HOCKEY have banded together and are trying to get the various NHL Trophy pages to FT status. It is a big job and if you would be willing to offer any assistance, it would be most appreciated. You can find out more here. Thanks for the time, Scorpion0422 21:32, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

wrestlers who died young list

hey, I noticed you wrote the list of wrestlers who died young, with emphasis on their age at death. Why not just write a list of wrestlers' Deaths, with the causes and age at death? That way, instead of expanding the list for someone at the upper age limit, you'll just have an authoritative list of all the wrestlers who died at whatever age group, and readers will see that and make their own judgements on what is an old age to die.--Screwball23 talk 17:38, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Actually, thinking about it that way, I don't think anyone would want to see the list anyway. People want to know tragic, scandalous stories, so that is why young deaths are particularly interesting and popular. However, if every single wrestler's death date was placed, including those unnotables and uninteresting natural deaths, the entire list would be criticized for being relatively useless. That is why I believe your list is the best, but I would more likely have added scandalous, media-oriented stories on wrestlers over 50. I would do it simply because I'm sure someone would jump on the opportunity to list for example: Ric Flair's death if he died in an in-ring incident (supposingly)--Screwball23 talk 00:08, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

User page

Hey, nice user page! Since I am very arrogant and conceded, I will assume that your inspiration of its basic layout came from my page. But I liked how you approached it from a totally different angle and made it your own, good job! P.S., your proper citations put mine to shame, it may inspire me to change them myself. Croat Canuck Say hello or just talk 00:51, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Ah yes, I did enjoy seeing you mention our little conflict there. Now here's another coincidence, I just got on for the first time today and among other things I went to check your talk page to see if you replied yet to my comment, and when I saw you hadn't I clicked away and the 2nd page I clicked on after this, it gave me the whole "you have new message(s)" notification, and I see that you just sent me a message... Too weird. Croat Canuck Say hello or just talk 20:36, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

New recognized content

By Maxim

Especially due to the featured topic drive, there have been many new featured lists promoted concerning NHL awards. Here's the full list of all the 13 FL's promoted since the last newsletter.[1][2]

  1. Hart Memorial Trophy
  2. James Norris Memorial Trophy
  3. Vezina Trophy
  4. Conn Smythe Trophy
  5. Frank J. Selke Trophy
  6. Lady Byng Memorial Trophy
  7. Lester B. Pearson Award
  8. Calder Memorial Trophy
  9. Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy
  10. King Clancy Memorial Trophy
  11. Jack Adams Award
  12. Presidents' Trophy
  13. List of Calgary Flames players

There have been no new good articles or featured articles. Maurice 'Rocket' Richard Trophy has been given A-Class status due to multiple issues raised at FLC.

  1. ^ The last one, List of Calgary Flames players, is the only one not associated with the featured topic drive.
  2. ^ At the time of publishing, there were 5 lists at WP:FLC and 2 lists in the "Holding cell", as there's been an accepted guideline to not put more that 5 trophy lists at the same time to, "compensate for the sanity of the reviewers".

Featured Topic Drive

By Maxim

Started by User:Scorpion0422, the aim of this drive is to make NHL awards a featured topic. A featured topic is basically a set of very high quality articles (good articles and featured articles/lists). In this case, the topic is NHL awards. Many users have helped, including Scorpion0422, Resolute, Serte, Hasek is the best, Maxim, Croat Canuck, Spike Wilbury, FutureNJGov, and T Rex/Dinosaur puppy. The progress has been very good; there are 12 featured lists promoted, and 2 good articles:

  1. Hart Memorial Trophy (Scorpion)
  2. James Norris Memorial Trophy (Scorpion)
  3. Vezina Trophy (Scorpion)
  4. Conn Smythe Trophy (Serte)
  5. Frank J. Selke Trophy (FutureNJGov)
  6. Lady Byng Memorial Trophy (Scorpion)
  7. Lester B. Pearson Award (Scorpion)
  8. Calder Memorial Trophy (Croat Canuck)
  9. Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy (Maxim)
  10. King Clancy Memorial Trophy (Maxim)
  11. Jack Adams Award (Maxim)
  12. Presidents' Trophy (Scorpion)
  13. Stanley Cup (Earlier collaboration, very many involved)
  14. Traditions and anecdotes associated with the Stanley Cup (Maxim)

Check the project page if you are interested in helping out. Although it's closer to being done than not, there's still work to be done. The next topic that might be tackled is Stanley Cup, but this remains purely speculative and in discussion.

NFL Starting QBs template

I was reading the discussion you had about the template at User talk:Phbasketball6 and I wanted to let you know I replied. I love the idea for this template an I agree with you on this one. The best way to handle this template, in my opinion, would be to update it after the week's games have been played. So guys like Cleo Lemon and Kurt Warner should not currently be listed. I do feel that, even though in all likelihood they will start, it's a little to "crystal ball-ish" to have them on here now. The template isn't for who is taking reps with the first team in practice (or at least it shouldn't be), it's who is starting the most recent game.►Chris NelsonHolla! 18:30, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

No problem. Like I said it's a great template and I think it's excellent just the way it is. I have it on my watchlist now that I added the link to quarterback (hope you don't mind) so I'll keep an eye on it from now on. There's no doubt in my mind that's definitely the way to handle this template.►Chris NelsonHolla! 19:30, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Middle name disambiguations

In one case, the middle name was already in the article, and in the other, the external link to the Legends of Hockey biography had it. Thanks for keeping me updated on the discussions. --Michael Snow 20:11, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Gramaticas

I think the first name initial might be a good idea in this case. While it's true that Bill's basically out of football, not everyone knows what he's been up to. There are three Gramatica brothers and all kicked at the college and/or pro level. I think this tiny bit of clarification might be useful to the casual observer. I don't feel that strongly about it, just my two cents.►Chris NelsonHolla! 21:43, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

I'd definitely say it's necessary. If someone told me that the Saints signed Gramatica, I'd think Martin, but I'd also immediately ask which one it was. Just like the Barber brothers. If I told you that Barber signed with Philly, you'd probably think Ronde first, because he's active, but you'd ask just to make sure.Cairparavel (talk) 19:19, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Cairparavel

Buffalo Sabres 2007-08 season

Come on, man... a fellow Sabres fan and a concerned editor of Wikipedia can't find the value of that regular season game last night? Briere and Biron, the hated Flyers go up 6-5 late, Sabres tie it with 7.2 left, force OT, and win for 6 in a row? Why even have distinctive season articles if you can't include a game like that in it? I thought you'd understand! Monsieurdl mon talk-mon contribs 19:58, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Hey, I am all for eliminating the game later if there are many more like it and keeping the very best ones- I think that is a fair compromise considering there may be a lot of them, or not many. How's that? Monsieurdl mon talk-mon contribs
