image deleted
[edit]You deleted my image for copyright reasons. However, I clearly stated the reasons for including a copyrighted work and believe it should be included. I uploaded the image based on this image Image:Philmont_Scout_Ranch.png. This image states "Permission to use all images of BSA badges with their motifs in Wikipedia was obtained from the BSA on 13 Dec 2005". Please explain. --Mikemarseglia (talk) 00:57, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
RE:
[edit]You deleted my article titled "Have the Gifts of the Holy Spirit Ceased?"
You cited it as being on another website and copyrigfhted.
The problem is that it is on websites that I am a part of, and the work is soley mine, without referencing material from others.
The site you listed as it being on is a forum I am on, and the article on the forum is, as seen from the site, posted by me.
Perhaps you should email me next time before deleting something based on assumption rather than factual information.

What happened with Category:Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award nominees? Did anybody inform me of an imposing deletion? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ Talk? 22:12, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Well I on the fence so to speak -I;m too busy currently with cambodian geography to be too concerned, but I remember I was requested by several people to create that category to help connect the articles on the featured list together and try to improve them in the academy award framework. I thought it was a useful category -more so than any of the others and of course I spent some time in categorizing around 100 articles -time which I haven't got to waste. At one point I intended going through the category and trying to unstub every article -important i think as they are all featured in the list which is now a featured article. Again, pretty well disappointed that the creator of an article, image or work isn't informed about a deletion ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ Talk? 22:33, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Thank you
[edit]Thank you for protecting the Chatsworth Hills Academy page so fast.
Since the page is about an elementary school and children will at one point or another be looking at the Wikipedia page about their school, can we remove the history which shows graphic images and has links to inappropriate content? I think the edits going back to December 9 are all inappropriate.

Lists of disputed non-free images
[edit]Hi SkierRMH. A Wikiproject has been set up to help deal with backlogs, including Category:Disputed non-free images. Would you mind if I put links to the lists of disputed images divided by category that are in your userspace on the project's talk page? They would be very useful for editors who want to work on a specific image type. All the best, Bláthnaid 13:57, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks Skier. That one was created by Ekyaw who is Burmese -he followed my example of the Template:Townships of Yangon (Incidentally we have begun developing List of Burmese films which kicks the ass off imdb which has like 3). I guess some people don't like to see an encyclopedia develop -red links weren't an excuse for a tfd when it was clear was the intention was . LOL. A tag has been placed on Voices from the Magdalena. Communication for Peace, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.
If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}}
on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Magioladitis (talk) 00:46, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Scanned images
[edit]Yes in my country now government is establishing the law of patent. This images are sanned from the book published by Government of Union of Myanmar for Public and there is nothing about copyright. (In my country most private book have copyright). For example, in book of Myanmar-English Dictionary, at begin there is words "Copyright by Department of Myanmar Language Group". So I think they can't be copyrighted. --Ekyaw (talk) 03:23, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Mitsubishi Galant Lambda photos
[edit]Sorry to drag this up, but I e-mailed Andy Wertheim, the General Manager of Press & Public Affairs, with regard to these photos on 14 December last year, which is presumably the "direct contact" referred to in this edit by User:GalantFan. I can forward a copy of the e-mail to you if you want.
I have received no reply since then, so after one month the situation remains as before, unless OTRS has been contacted directly. There's no indication on the images themselves that this is the case.[1][2] The photos are explicitly stated by the uploader not to be for commercial use, so continue to be incompatible with the licence they're tagged with. As it is, we have two images that we seem to be using while we wait for Mitsubishi UK to actually grant us permission. Any thoughts? --DeLarge (talk) 12:11, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Removed Image
[edit]Hi,
I noticed you had removed the image of Katsuaki Sato on the Katsuaki Sato Wikipedia page. I don't know the person who posted it, but it may have come from my website (at www.odokarate.com). All images on my website were reviewed and approved by Katsuaki Sato, but I do not think he would want his images in the domain of "free use" because he would not want others to be allowed to use them in ways that he would find offensive or implying his endorsement..
In reading through the definitions of various labels Wikipedia assigns to images, "non-free promotional" is probably most fitting. I want to ask Katsuaki Sato for whatever information I need in order to include an image with his bio (and possibly add a different image if there is another that he prefers to the one that was there). Unfortunately, upon reading the (cumbersomely legalistic) explanations offered on Wikipedia, it is very difficult to understand exactly what is expected in order to add a non-free promotional image to this web page.
Although I believe Katsuaki Sato would appreciate having a picture included with his bio on Wikipedia, I doubt he would be willing to engage lawyers or jump through other such hoops for the privilege. (The Japanese tend to have a low tolerance for America's fetish with litigation and all the effort we expend in trying to protect ourselves from it.)
So is there a *simple* way to get an image of Katsuaki Sato included on the Wikipedia web page about him -- an image that I would get first-hand approval from Katsuaki Sato to include, but as a "non-free promotional" image rather than a "free use" image (in order to offer some protection against gross misuse of the image)?

the the with AutoWikiBro(wser?)
[edit]Hello,
You edited Insulated glazing, including finding a typo, "the the". The comment said you were using AutoWikiBro, but it was cut off so I assume that is AutoWikiBrowser. But the typo was not corrected correctly--it should have been "to the", whereas your edit was to simply remove one "the" rather than replace it with the correct word. That was still a useful contribution, as it made me notice the error. But I'm wondering whether you or the AutoWikiBrowser developers should be alerted to this hazard. Thanks.
