'Sock'puppet/Troma Entertainment
[edit]'Sock'puppet/Troma Entertainment | ||
---|---|---|
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troma_Entertainment
I'm not sure about 'sockweed', but since we are the subject of socks, sockpuppetry is certainly a violation of Wiki.
SKIBZ'Z NOTE: Apparently if you edit and don't realize you're not logged in, you get put on some government watch list. Remember that, kids! Oh yeah, you violated these things too. And by that, I'm 'politely' telling you. SKIBZ'Z NOTE: Is it me, or is this guy kind of a...well, never mind. Please do not assume ownership of articles. If you aren't willing to allow your contributions to be edited extensively or be redistributed by others, please do not submit them. Thank you.
SKIBZ'Z NOTE: I didn't create the article...did I? Not to mention the reason I changed a lot of it was that there was an astounding amount of factual inaccuracies riddled throughout, NONE of which were backed by ANY references or sources. However, when I brought this up with the editors, they all assured me it was ALL truth. When I asked for some references verifying the supposed facts, they said they'd get me some...that was three months ago, and I haven't seen ANYTHING since. Please do not remove information from articles. Wikipedia is not censored, and content is not removed even if some believe it to be contentious. Thank you.
SKIBZ'Z NOTE: I'm pretty sure I didn't delete anything done by previous editors...I kept all the previous information, just expanded and elaborated on it. And when I comes to reviews, I certainly look to both sides of the spectrum...it's something I like to do! ^_^ Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did to Troma Entertainment, you will be blocked from editing.
SKIBZ'Z NOTE: Once again, I didn't delete whole sections, just expand and elaborate. This guy's just trying to pile as many violations on me as possible. Please stop introducing jokes into articles. Wikipedia is a serious encyclopedia, and contributions of this type are considered vandalism. Continuing to add jokes and other disruptive content into articles may lead to you being blocked from editing.
SKIBZ'Z NOTE: Although it does sound like a bad joke, it's actually one of the trade secrets of indie filmmaking. It makes sense, dunnit? TV shows use sets, then throw them out. It's kind of a waste, really...why not continue putting it to good use? I know I've stolen discarded lumber for my stupid little films... Please stop. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy by adding commentary and your personal analysis into articles, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.
SKIBZ'Z NOTE: I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't say "the world worships Troma", unless, you know, I was retarded or something. How would the Amish worship Troma? Come on, now! You're not really trying, are you? Please do not add unsourced or original content. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.
SKIBZ'Z NOTE: Oh, yes, because we all know how successful and famous Troma Entertainment is(?). I'm beginning to doubt he's even READ the article, unless he chose to skip over all those parts I read about Troma's financial hardships, rejection from the mainstream and massive business losses in the early 90s? This is your last warning. If you continue to make personal attacks on other people, you will be blocked for disruption. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people.
SKIBZ'Z NOTE: Uh...aren't you insulting me NOW by saying that? I'm pretty sure telling me to shut up is a direct violation of WikiLaw #3x0267ab72. Sinkin' down to my level, eh? I don't blame ya. It's comfy down here. BTW, Wiki has no problem politely blocking your IP if you continue in this manner. SKIBZ'Z NOTE: You know that as soon as he finished writing this, he ran upstairs to brag to his mom about how he told me off.Skibz777 11:44, 30 September 2007 (UTC) |

Dude, you are TOTALLY biased toward Troma. You know you can't do that, man?
SKIBZ'Z NOTE: Dude, man...dude! I concur with the above editor This is from your talk page, man! "This is Skibz777's own personal...page...thingy. Or something. On WikiPedia, I like to call myself The Troma Guy. I am currently creating pages for EVERY SINGLE FILM made and distributed by Troma Entertainment, as well as elaborate on the pages for the films already on WikiPedia. This is all done not only because I'm a total loser with a lot of time on his hands, but as a pledge of allegiance to the greatest film studio the world has ever known." SKIBZ'Z NOTE: Dude, man! Did I really write that, man? Hmm...I guess I did, dude. It's weird that I would say that, man, since I don't even particularly feel that way, dude. I respect Troma and all, bro, but I don't think I would actually *pledge allegiance* to them. I regret writing that, man...I was totally exaggerating. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest [[1]] This page in a nutshell: Avoid making controversial edits to articles where your close connection to the subject may cause a conflict between your agenda and Wikipedia's goal of producing a neutral encyclopedia. Please contact us if you are concerned about the content of such an article. Dude, you close connection:"I pledge of allegiance to the greatest film studio the world has ever known, Troma."..."I'm the Troma guy." SKIBZ'Z NOTE: Since you quoted my thingy verbatim earlier, dude, it's probably not wise to have completely PARAPHRASED that last sentence right there, man. And just because I do like Troma, man, however, not to the extent that it may appear, dude, that doesn't mean I don't have a neutral stance towards them, man. I'm aware of their flaws, dude, and have a few criticisms of my own, man. Dude, I just feel that it should be natural, man, for someone who knows quite a bit about the company, dude, to help edit the article in question, man! Dude, man, you don't have to agree with me, though, man, dude. You are in no place to objectively weigh disputes about Troma edits, not when you worship them! You're clearly biased in Troma's favor. That's totally unwiki-like behavior, man. Cut it out. SKIBZ'Z NOTE: Dude! What's with this whole "worship" thing, man? Why does everybody assume I *worship* Troma, dude? I like them, man, but I don't worship them, dude. In fact, man, I'm even tired of talking about them now, dude. Catch ya later, dude, bro, man, dude, dude, man, bro, dude, man, man, man, dude! |

[edit]Yes, you're right, Pansy Division could use a more cohesive and better-referenced bio... it seems like a lot of times the music articles aren't up to the standards of other articles in terms of references, etc., and there is a tendency for people to tack on trivia, etc.--Larrybob (talk) 18:22, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer
[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:02, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
Jason Moss- which school?
[edit]You added Jason Moss to two Oregon high schools. Did he attend both? Can you add a cite (to a source) to each indicating he attended those schools? tedder (talk) 01:15, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- Which two is he listed on? My reference mentions only South Eugene HS and thus is the only one he should be listed on. Any other is mistake.Skibz777 (talk) 01:31, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, I guess I saw your two edits to the same page and thought they were different pages. Yeah, you've only listed it once. Can you include your reference/cite? We try to include cites on all school attendances. Yes, there are many missing, but it's easier to do when they are added. tedder (talk) 01:39, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for sourcing Lloyd Knibb
[edit]I was looking all around for a source a few hours ago and couldn't find one, at least nothing worthy of Wikipedia. I came back online just now to see if there might be one somewhere now. I am glad to see you have found one though I am still saddened by the news of the death of one of ska's founding members. I am thankful I've had the luxury of seeing the Skatalites a few times following the 90s ska revival.
Also, I didn't know if there was a way to send messages so I thought I'd just uselessly fill up your talk page like so. Feel free to delete this section. ;)

I hardly ever look at that article though it's on my watchlist, but I see your username pop up a lot. Well, I finally read the article for the first time in ages tonight, and I have to assume that it is so excellent because of all your hard work. So congratulations! Having been around Eugene for the early days of the band (I could supply all kinds of original research), and noting that band articles on Wikipedia generally suck, I have to say that this is a hell of a good article! I totally support you trying to get it to FA. I wish I still had a cassette player because I would play my 4 From on High cassette in tribute. I have a friend who at one time had every CPD poster from a certain era. Let me find out if she still has them. A scan of one of those might make a nice addition to the article. If you decide to try for FA, let me know. Cheers! Valfontis (talk) 02:17, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks! It's surprising what can result from just pecking away at an article for so long. I appreciate the offer of help; the only thing I think I really need outside of proofreading are more illustrative pictures from the earlier days of the band. Let me know if any of those posters get scanned, I'd love to see them. :) Skibz777 (talk) 00:09, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry, just noticed your reply. I'll ask around about pics, too. My friend just moved and is busy, but I'll see if the posters still exist. Cheers, Valfontis (talk) 14:54, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Eyes on The Aquabats
[edit]Hey Skibz, not sure if you've noticed the recent edit-warring at The Aquabats but thought I'd bring it to your attention. I'm going out of town for the weekend and will be off-wiki, so it'd sure help if you'd keep an eye on the article. I started an ANI thread about it at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#The Aquabats if you want to read a little more about it. --IllaZilla (talk) 04:37, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
The edit-warring account was blocked and the article has been semi-protected until the 7th, but he threatened to sockpuppet and get his "friends" to help, so keep an eye out. --IllaZilla (talk) 04:57, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

November 2019
[edit]- If you earnestly cared about verifiable material, your edits would have been made in consideration to the context and content of each page; in choosing to undo each and every edit of mine in the last few weeks, you not only removed what you found to be egregious original research (such as an album's length and label, notoriously contentious points of sub-journalistic bias, I'm aware), but removed multiple unrelated edits correcting formatting errors, grammatical errors and even my own removal of unsourced content (e.g. the non-existent, unlinked genre "astro-rock" in Reese Roper's infobox, for one). By removing edits of mine which had nothing to do with citable content, by removing edits of mine which were sourced, by removing edits of mine reiterating content already present in the article body (e.g. moving mentions of Reese Roper's studio guest appearances from biography to discography) and by removing edits of mine with reckless disregard for the deliberations and consensuses previously reached in an article's talk pages (e.g. The Aquabats' infobox genres, a long-suffering source of habitual vandalism by genre warriors), that seems to indicate to me that your primary concern isn't encyclopedic veracity. Look, I'm not upset, I'm just disappointed...I thought we had really developed a strong rapport together over these last few years, but, alas, I guess emotions can't get in the way of rules and regulations. I've sourced the length, label and Billboard charts on The Aquabats! Super Show! Television Soundtrack: Volume One, but I recommend making use of Wikipedia's Talk Page feature for those times when you start second guessing if an album is really 47:58 instead of 47:59. Skibz777 (talk) 15:27, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- I earnestly do care about verifiable material, sometimes perhaps over-zealously, I readily admit. In the process I have been known to revert several good edits because of one bad edit. Or even sometimes made the mistake of assuming it was a bad edit when it was in fact, actually a good one. This was most likely the case when I woke up this morning and failed to notice that the diff I was looking at had been truncated and as such appeared to be a bad one. Then I noticed the unsourced bit at the end of this edit and was convinced it all required reversion. Next edit when looking through your contributions that irked me was this one which, to be honest, does require sourcing. Then I reverted this for OR which it appeared to be (correct me if I'm wrong please). Next was this one. I do think it does need sourcing, especially considering it is a good article. My next revert was for this edit. Now here again, I admit, I reverted 3 other edits to revert this one which contained unsourced info. I could go on and analyze each edit, their respective reversions and the reasons therefore but perhaps that is unnecessary nit-picking. Yes admittedly, I was hasty in some of my reversions, however I do feel some were justified. What I should have done was sent you a message and discussed it with you, had you point out my errors and me request sourcing where need be as apposed to dropping a warning on your talk page. I may have even done that until I read your sarcastic edit summaries that is and decided to rather not engage as it seemed more trouble than it was worth and you didn't seem to be very approachable. On that note, thank you for starting this discussion. My sincerest apologies for not assuming good faith with regards to some of your edits, for my hasty reversions and for the warning on your talk page (which I have removed). There are some things that I feel do need sources but I will discuss them with you as opposed to random reverting. Finally, I didn't realize we have had dealings with each other in the past. That is most likely due to poor memory from my side so forgive me for jeopardizing any good standing I may have had with you. I hope we are able to work collaboratively going forward. Robvanvee 16:52, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- Fair enough; I tend to have a rather arrogant streak, so I apologize if I came off as argumentative. While I certainly agree on the value of reliable sources and recognized some places where references were indeed necessary, I was more confused by the reversions than anything else; for the soundtrack album, for example, I see I should have cited the Billboard chart placements, but I didn't see why such things as album length, label or small credit fixes ("Matt Chapman" -> "M. Chapman") were removed along with it. As there was stuff like that on almost every page you reverted edits on, I guess I got paranoid that there was some kind of personal beef, so again, I apologize if I've been rude.
- Anyways, here's a few small notes on the specific edits you linked to. I typically do my best to keep everything up to standards; I'm not perfect, but every edit is indeed in good faith and is never done without reason:
- Having edited The Aquabats' page for many years, genre is hands-down the most contentious part of the article; it's been prey to many genre warriors and you can see in the talk archives that almost every editor has a different idea of what should go in the infobox. The four genres currently displayed are what was agreed upon when it was decided to create a separate "Musical Style" section and therefore I semi-regularly revert it back whenever somebody changes it. As you may know, changing infobox genres is no small edit and, seeing as there's already an entire section on genre, I find it necessary to bring up such changes in the talk page first.
- As far as the most recent unsourced additions to The Aquabats' main biography, I'll admit culpability for that since the band is currently in the middle of a lot of activity (new web series, new album, new tour, etc.) and as such the page will likely be continually updated over the next few months...I'll confess I should have added citations to those bits, even though I planned for them to inevitably be replaced with more information and better references. With niche bands like these, they only receive sporadic attention from reliable sources and that occasionally makes citations hard to come by: it's not like Rolling Stone is covering the new Aquabats single, directly linking to the song via YouTube/Spotify/etc. is the only source available for the single release until confirmation of a new album and its accompanying press and publicity. Likewise, some areas are totally gray: for instance, member Ian Fowles is still credited as "Eagle 'Bones' FalconHawk" on social media and the most recent album but is credited as "EagleBones FalconHawk" in the band's TV series and most recent web videos. Trying to remain thorough and up-to-date with a cult band - especially one which has its own extensive and very unencyclopedic in-universe mythology - is not always an easy task.
- Ironically, I was actually planning on removing that edit to the Daddies' page anyways (and I since have); I debated over whether or not it was worth mentioning, but seeing as the details of the change are too vague and small enough to be generally inconsequential, it's better left off entirely, even with sources.
- The Reese Roper discography confused me the most since my only additions outside of formatting and adding his credits for each album was the five guest appearances. I see why it's necessary to cite the guest appearances, but, again, with the reversions undoing both a formatting error as well as restoring other unsourced material ("astro-rock", as well as keeping the same unsourced information about guest appearances in the biography), I assumed the implication was I had to source the credits for each album. Granted, I feel that entire article could benefit from a re-write with reliable sources since there's very few on there. Skibz777 (talk) 19:35, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for explaining Skibz777. I'm glad we could talk this over and if I had forgotten about past interactions, I certainly won't forget this one. All the best. Robvanvee 10:00, 12 November 2019 (UTC)

RadVentures! false redirect?
[edit]Hey Skibz, did you say in your edit summary three months ago that you haven't updated the Super Show! article to include all the info and episodes of RadVentures!, but "that is where it will go as there's not enough coverage to justify its own article?" Animal Control Abuse (talk) 21:05, 2 October 2020 (UTC)
- I don't even remember anything I did last week, let alone three months ago. I'm not sure what the issue was, but as far as the YouTube series, there's not enough media coverage to justify making a separate article for RadVentures!: there's only an OC Weekly article to cite, and it barely even mentions the show. Seeing as RadVentures! was the result of the Kickstarter to make "New Super Show Adventures" and were originally referred to as "mini-episodes of The Aquabats! Super Show!," not to mention continues the continuity of the original series and even retains its theme song and title card, there's no other logical place to put that information other than as a sub-section of the main Super Show! article. Unfortunately, I just have not had the chance to sit down and do a lot of Wikipedia editing lately, but I'll move it to the top of my to-do list when I have the time. As of now, at least RadVentures! is passingly mentioned in the intro paragraphs, so hopefully it's not too confusing of a redirect. Skibz777 (talk) 15:28, 4 October 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot Skibz, but there's only three more mini-episodes left, and then The Aquabats will have enough twelve mini-episodes released on YouTube. Is that right Skibz? Skibz? Oh well. Animal Control Abuse (talk) 21:00, 4 October 2020 (UTC)

tips on writing music pages?
[edit]I've noticed that you have a lot of experience writing pages for musical groups. Would you be willing to look over my Stretch Armstrong draft? I've gathered a bunch of information and I'm torn about how to condense information about specific concerts. Should I just note notable bands that Stretch opened for instead of mentioning individual concerts that weren't reviewed? I feel like my "Concerts 1994-1995" section is pretty weak. I've noticed that FA band pages hardly ever mention individual concerts, but for a band like Stretch Armstrong, the concerts are the main thing I have to go off of. Anyway. I would appreciate any advice you can give! Rachel Helps (BYU) (talk) 21:48, 11 May 2022 (UTC)

The article Tim Donahue (drummer) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Doesn't reach individual notability per WP:BANDMEMBER. Most of the "Career" section is either unsourced or based on the subject's own website
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Ductwork (talk) 18:47, 14 July 2022 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:MU330 albums
[edit]A tag has been placed on Category:MU330 albums indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Liz Read!
