Recent edit to Hala Al Turk

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that you removed some content from Hala Al Turk without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; I restored the removed content. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Information icon Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to Shobana, did not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. The occupation parm should be using hlist as per template documentation. Do not change that. And do not add unsourced birth date. Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:56, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not use styles that are unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Thank you. Fully read instructions given at Template:Infobox person to know how to write, arrange or format an infobox, also read MOS:CAPS and WP:MOSTEXT. Manual of Styles are guidelines to how to write Wikipedia. If you do not follow that your edits keep getting reverted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2409:4073:41D:743B:4D4E:3D6:20CA:FD5F (talk) 14:38, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Viswajith, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sequencer (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:14, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi there, re: this edit, please don't miscapitalise occupations. They are not proper nouns, they are not the beginning of sentences, thus, they should not be capitalised. Also, we don't need links for common words that everybody understands, like "actress", "producer", "politician". Nobody's going to look at those and be confused as to what they mean. See WP:OVERLINK. Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:44, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello Sir CP, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Al Mallu have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Moneytrees🏝️Talk🌴Help out at CCI! 13:14, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, re: this, some of the changes you made here were helpful, so thank you for those. Please refrain from generating links off of years like 2020. The point of a Wikilink is to help people understand concepts they may not be familiar with. Nobody's ever going to wonder "Gee, what is 2020?" They'll know it is a year, so there is no reason to create any links to any tangential subjects off of that anchor. Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:20, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also, re: these changes, you need to familarise yourself with Template:Infobox person instructions. There is no justification to create wikilinks for India, per the instructions, and there is no justification to capitalise "actor" or "script writer" as these are neither proper nouns, nor are they the beginning of a sentence. This is also explained in the instructions. Please don't create a situation where other editors have to clean up after you. Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:24, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Disruptive edits

[edit]

Given that you seem to have ignored other attempts to educate you, I'm consider these edits disruptive. Stop miscapitalising content, stop overlinking to words and concepts that everybody understands like "actor" and "model". Wikipedia isn't Sesame Street. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 00:21, 14 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry i haven't been reading the messages. Where can I find the standard form in which a page should be. Sir CP (talk) 11:59, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand the question. I've given you instructions with links to relevant guidelines above and below. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:34, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Please stop adding wikilinks for years like you've done here. As previously explained, this is overlinking, and very specifically contravenes WP:DATELINK. This would be a very silly thing for you to be blocked for, and it's totally avoidable. Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:10, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Last warning re: problematic edits

[edit]

Re: this, while some aspects of your changes are helpful, some are not, and some needlessly introduces more problems into the articles. Please stop arbitrarily capitalising occupations. These are not proper nouns, so they should not be capitalised anyway, and Template:Infobox person specifically addresses this. Re: this, we do not create wikilinks off of years. This is addressed at WP:DATELINK, which is on the same page you previously have been directed to. Please read these guidelines and familiarise yourself with the infobox instructions, as you are one problematic edit away from being blocked. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 00:34, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:53, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistently making disruptive edits. Indefinitely does not mean forever, but it does mean for the foreseeable future until you are willing to finally respond to the issues that have been brought to your attention several times before.
  • In this recent edit, you again have made a conscious decision to miscapitalise common nouns, violating basic English principles. It's also unclear to me why you think "2015 – present" is better than the previous "2015–present", which is how most date ranges are normally presented.
  • Here you also still seem oblivious to how we format the occupation parameter when using {{hlist}}, sort of oddly deciding that everything beyond the bullet is a new sentence?
  • Here you seem to be condensing the |mother= and |father= parameters into |parents= but somehow you never got the memo that these fields are typically used for notable parents, i.e. ones that already have well-established Wikipedia articles?

Most of these infobox templates are sub-templates of Template:Infobox person, so you should probably learn how that template is properly used before using other infobox templates, since most of your changes to these templates seem like you have zero actual knowledge of what these parameters are used for across the project.

  • And in the same edits linked in the last bullet point, you are expanding details like birth date into the lede, without even checking to see if the content is sourced. Why would you do that, when the content isn't sourced? This is very sloppy editing that seems to have very little regard for WP:V, our verifiability policy. Adding or expanding details that are not sourced is POINTLESS.
Since this block is not punitive, I would endorse your unblock so long as you are able to address the concerns that have been brought to your attention numerous times, and also provide the reviewing administrator with a clear indication of how you will not repeat these problems in the future.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Cyphoidbomb (talk) 23:52, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
