User talk:SingularityZero
Welcome!
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. We as a community are glad to have you and thank you for creating a user account! Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- The Five Pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Editing, policy, conduct, and structure tutorial
- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Naming conventions
- Manual of Style
- Merging, redirecting, and renaming pages
- If you're ready for the complete list of Wikipedia documentation, there's also Wikipedia:Topical index.
Yes some of the links appear a bit boring at first, but they are VERY helpful if you ever take the time to read them.
Remember to place any articles you create into a category so we don't get orphans.
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome.

Notability
[edit]We don't mean to be harsh. :-) But we have to have some way of preventing every garage band in the world from posting their own article, complete with self-aggrandizing quotes from their local "music critic" friends. I am sure you understand. And honestly, our requirements for notability are not terribly high -- get an article or two in industry publications of reasonable circulation, mentions in more mainstream media (one easy rule, for those of us playing at home, is to hope for several hundred google hits that aren't sites owned by you or your best friend). Yeah, that does make it tough for young artists to be represented here. But in the long run, I think we'll have a very comprehensive list of artists who have achieved any kind of cultural significance (even on more local levels). I hope it's not too disheartening, and that you can find ways to contribute here (since you clearly have talent, at least in my and Redwolf's estimations). Jwrosenzweig 00:00, 16 July 2005 (UTC)
