Phil Collins

[edit]

Hi there, Can I ask why you deleted my insertion of the fact that Phil Collins said he would come back to the uk if the conservatives won the 1997 election? Cheers, Simon lukic 14:50, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In answer to your question on reverting the edit

During the 1997 U.K. General Election campain, Collins said he would return to Britain if the Conservative party won. They didn't win. Collins stayed abroad. It is not known how many people voted Labour to keep the millionaire out of the country.

Normally I would have copyedited this and added a citation required tag, but as this is a featured article that was to be listed on the main page I reverted. This type of edit ( especially on a bio article) needs to be cited from a reliable source. The last line It is not known how many people voted Labour to keep the millionaire out of the country is clearly a speculative attack on him IF it is not accurately cited. Broadcasting to the world that wikipedia thought this, rather than reporting someone else wrote this, would not be a good move and would not improve the article in a neutral and verifyable way. - Peripitus (Talk) 01:45, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
