Sandboxes

[edit]

Rather than using your userpage itself, you can create a user subpage to test edits on. An example of a common format is User:SimonHarvey/Sandbox. It's a great way of keeping your userpage simple, and making it easy to have a sandbox of your own. Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 09:29, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Headers

[edit]

By headers, I assume you mean templates, such as {{advert}} (without the tl| bit in code, thats just a template example bit). You don't have to be well known - as long as you think the problem is fixed, just remove them. For the {{prod}} tag, remove it as long as you think you have fixed the problems. The original person who nominated the article may want to take it to AFD, but it seems in that case you have fixed the problem. You can read up on how they work at WP:PROD. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask :-) Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 20:52, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I noticed you edit a few articles relating to new zealand - I assume you either live their and/or are interested in it. If so, I would suggest you check out WikiProject New Zealand, which is a great central location for such things. WikiProjects are great for that. Welcome

[edit]

Welcome Simon. I noticed you edited the Addicton Foods (pet food) article. Good job. I had a devil of a time convincing adms not to delete the article. It is a unique food and no company I've found has kangaroo or brushy tail possum... and I'm sort of an expert in dry dog foods. Again welcome. Noles1984 16:32, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Simon, wouldn't you agree that with the products listed as they are make it look like an advertisement? I think the products are not that important unless they have something to do with the unique ingredients. Not every one of Addiction's products are using kangaroo or brushtail possum. I was opposed to having every single product they produce in the article. That then makes it an ad or a target for search engines to look for specific products. I created a sand box article: User:Noles1984/Sandbox/Addiction Foods (New Zealand company) which can replace the somewhat strange article that someone edited into a magazine article. Your opinion? I removed your CSD-contesting tag from this article... it was never nominated for deletion. ~Eliz81(C) 10:08, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Following a note posted on Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Physics about the merge with Ion thruster. I am proposing to divide the two articles on the basis of whether an engine predominantly uses electric fields to create a non-thermal beam of reaction mass, or alternatively heats a plasma to high temperature by some electric arc, RF, or similar means, and then expands the hot thermal plasma to produce a unidirectional exhaust. I have altered the merge tags to all point to the plasma propulsion talk page. I think this is in line with common usage, and based on physics. The ion thrusters tend to have lower thrust and higher specific impulse (and thus higher velocity potential), whereas the plasma engines have a more massive but lower velocity jet (and thus more thrust for a given electric power requirement). NB if this is acceptable to all, it will mean the plasma section (currently 4) of the ion article should be merged into the plasma article. Wwheaton (talk) 08:25, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I removed your expand tags, nobody will ever expand them (except people who already care about the topic, and they don't need the tags). The talk page is a better place to make suggestions about the future of the article. Phlegm Rooster (talk) 07:23, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
