Nair classification controversy

[edit]

Hey, I deleted "classification controversy" from Nair page as it is more fit to be in the discussion page. Please, let me know how should I go about it as you have reverted it. Thanks.

Question:

[edit]

Am I not allowed to edit my own userpage as I see fit? Why did you delete what I wrote? Aren't you infringing on my first amendment rights?

That was a personal attack I removed, Wikipedia has zero tolerance of such things. TehKewl1 02:49, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Original Barnstar
For whacking some vandals and whacking 'em good :) Tawker 14:37, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear TehKewl1

[edit]

I deleted the "Kufi-smacking" portion of the Kufi article (and will delete it again) because it is simply in bad taste, says nothing about that form of headgear, and portrays hateful behavior towards Muslims who wear traditional clothing as a "sport." Well I'm not laughing, and I dare say that if a "yarmulke-smacking" portion had been placed in the article Yarmulke you would probably be hearing from the Anti-Defamation League (or better yet the Jewish Defense League) right now. So please allow this bigoted attempt at "humor" to be removed from this site -- vandalism against Muslims is still vandalism (even if it is currently in fashion these days.) If you think it is important for us to know about "kufi-smacking," why not creat a separate "Kufi-smacking" article .... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 63.235.74.167 (talkcontribs) .

This appears to have been an unfortunate reversion. Big blocks of unsourced material can be removed at any time by any editor, although it's not nice to do so. So they should never be treated as vandalism, or have pseudo-rollback used on them. If you feel it is appropiate to revert a change like that, better to start a thread on the talk page and rollback manually using an edit summary that points to the thread. Keep up the whacking! Err, vandal fighting, I mean. - brenneman {L} 08:25, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It appears there's been a typo on that page for a long time (I went through the history pages). This line doesn't make sense:

He animated music videos of Lemon Demon, and started with eBaum's World Dot Com, which criticised the website eBaum's World regarding allegations of plagiarism and copyright infringement;

This is clearly referencing ebaumsworldsucks.com, not ebaumsworld.com, that's why i changed eBaum's World Dot Com to eBaum's World Sucks Dot Com at two spots on that page. Please change it back. It makes no sense this way.

blocked IP exemption

[edit]

My School is on a blocked proxy, however if there is a way to make an exemption for my account, this would be helpful, as I am in my most educated mode whilst in school. TehKewl1 22:12, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure if you're referring to bug 550, but I have had similar problems in the past, which seem to be fixed now. MichaelBillington 02:40, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've approved your VandalSniper application. Please let me know if you have any trouble setting it up. --Chris (talk) 13:36, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Warnings

[edit]

Hi TehKewl1, I see you're starting to fight vandals on Wikipedia, but you're not issuing any warnings to go along with the reverts. Please see WP:VAND#Warning_templates. Also take a look at WP:CVU while you're at it. Cheers,  Netsnipe  (Talk)  05:26, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Userboxen

[edit]

I've seen you have made a neat user box "This user loves Electric Light Orchestra.". Unfortunately, the little image on the left is a fair use one, and fair use images are not allowed in userspace [1][2] Please take this into consideration for any future userboxes you design. Teke's RfA thanks

[edit]

Thank you for your support of my RfA, which has passed with a final tally of 76/1/1. With this overwhelming show of support and approval I am honored to serve Wikipedia in the task charged to me and as outlined in my nomination. Happy editing to you! Teke (talk) 17:47, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

db tags

[edit]

Please be more careful before you add Speedy Delete tags. You recently tagged Randy Shughart for deletion, after it had been vandalized. If you had done a little research into the page history, you'd have seen it's a fully written article that had recently been vandalized by an IP. Also, you tagged it as NN Bio, without researching that Shughart was a medal of honor winner, and the subject of the movie Blackhawk Down. Please be more careful next time. oh... shit, I shouldn't edit when I'm tired, but some guy I've never heard of and an article that says "He was born in 1990 and is 50 years old, left me to suspect a little kid who thought he was notable.... though it would have been nice if you said happy birthday :(.

Have a good one :) /wangi 03:01, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your RFA

[edit]

Just saw your blanking come up in the vandalism channel - do you want me to withdraw your nom and close it for you? - GIen 10:29, 2 September 2006 (UTC) (PS: Sorry to see how its gone mate)[reply]

yeah, just withdraw and delete the subpage please... TehKewl1 10:31, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Don't feel bad. You're doing all the right things. While there's no edit count stipulation, most people get to about 3000ish edits before becoming admins. I suspect that you'll have no problems passing through when you get there. Cheers -- Samir धर्म 10:42, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
My thoughts exactly, just get your edit count up :) I've closed the page, its off the front page so no one will see it - unfortunately I cant delete but only 4 ppl saw it anyway :) (delete these notes about it if you like?) - GIen

You should always warn vandals. It makes things more difficult with the bad cases when they get an extra try or two because someone hasn't bothered to warn them after a revert. Thanks. MyNameIsNotBob 09:25, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted language on Earth article

[edit]

Hello, you put a message on my discussion page, but I am confused. I don't think I edited the article; I sure do not remember doing so. Given that I always edit from my home computer and only my wife is the only indivdidual at home with me, could you please verify that it came from my computer? If so something is going on that does not bode well. Your further assistance would be appreciated. Thanks, Storm Rider (talk) 06:13, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jokes

[edit]

You wrote in my RfA: "would do better with a good sense of homour though, seems a little plain.". Don't worry about me, I'm the creator and the administrator of the Hungarian Uncyclopedia. :) Just a RfA wouldn't be the best place for jokes. NCurse work 12:46, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for participating in my RfA, which passed with a tally of 91/1/4. I can't express how much it means to me to become an administrator. I'll work even more and harder to become useful for the community. If you need a helping hand, don't hesitate to contact me. NCurse work 15:46, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
