Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.

I receive no compensation for my postings.
My name was blocked due to "advertising" which I disagree with. Is it advertising to create an account under a persona or alias that I use across the web? That's different than my user posting. I would love to chat about this.
Generally speaking, I was planning on making contributions on a few cybersecurity and powershell related pages. Not that I found any errors in them. But I was looking to find ones to contribute to.
If not SimeonOnSecurity, perhaps I can just use SimeonSecurity? That's the short name I usually use.

We do not permit website names as usernames, and any account that is a website name and that immediately starts editing about that website is promptly blocked for two policy violations: a username that violates that policy, and self-promotional editing which is strictly forbidden. I get the reasons why. But why is it an option to create a User page on my own profile options if I can't add my own accolades. It's a personal page. I'm sure other's have had this argument before. But I'll rest my argument. Please consider the username change below.
The purpose of a userpage is for an editor to inform other Wikipedia editors about their accomplishments, goals and plans as a Wikipedia editor. I don't see this as much of an improvement, but maybe others will disagree. We don't care what username you use across the web, on a planet with 8 billion people it is unreasonable to expect to be able to use the same name on every website. You aren't banned, you are blocked; the two words have different meanings here. User talk pages are not typically deleted. You are free to remove content except declined unblock requests from this page per WP:BLANKING. 331dot (talk) 09:08, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I created an account with the purpose of finding pages I wished to correct or improve.
I filled out my profile. It got me blocked. For new users, the distinction between a ban and a block might seem negligible, as they are essentially related consequences. I understand the reasons behind this action, but I am currently not concerned about progressing with contributions. I kindly request a change in my account name.
Wikipedia does not host profiles. As noted, your user page is a place to tell about yourself as a Wikipedia editor or user only. If you don't wish to participate here any more, nothing further needs to be done here. 331dot (talk) 09:32, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@331dot I'm blocked for a username related issue. Seems to be as good of a time as any. I'm not trying to be difficult. But all you're telling me is to request a username change one more time. Get unblocked and then request vanish.

You won't be unblocked merely to vanish. You can ask for vanishing even while you are blocked, but it's not likely to be granted. If it is accepted, you will be renamed by whomever accepts your request at that time. 331dot (talk) 09:38, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
