Banana
[edit]Hi. Yes, that's a bad username. I noticed your edit on SlimVirgin's page. What was the sentence in Banana that you were concerned about? You can still edit this page even though you're blocked, so you can reply here. Bishonen | talk 01:56, 15 March 2015 (UTC).
Why are you banning me? The banana page mentions the banana republics of central America. That is a very negative term, suggesting to some of dictatorships. No, the article might say that certain countries derive significant income from bananas. Now please unban me.
Now what suggests I am here for no good? That is a very accusatory statement. Blame Wikipedia for saying I cannot pick certain names because they are close to others when they were not close. After about 10 tries, I came up with this name. I did not pick shit or pee. Vomit is not bad or dirty.
If Dianaa is polite, she will say sorry but if you unban, that's more important.
What's a Bishonen? Isn't that close to the word bisexual? Oh, immediate ban you. See how bad that ban would be?....ok, that's a stretch but SlimVirgin's name could be banned because it suggests child exploitation for sex. Virgin is clearly a profanity and very sexual a term and kids are slim. See, ridiculous and please unban me.
- For what it's worth, I looked at the cited "Big-business greed killing the banana" newspaper article on HighBeam service. The portion of the Banana article that talks about the Banana republic seems to be a good summary of the article, and it does use the term "banana republic". (The summary, though, doesn't explicitly tie banana industry practices to the ecosystem changes that have made banana plants susceptible to disease and fungus, as is stated in the newspaper article.)
- If you think that there should be a counter-point - do you have a source of information?--CaroleHenson (talk) 04:47, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
If you want to contribute here..
[edit]I can understand that you were offended by the term banana republic. It is a negative word, but that's not a reason for not explaining it as a political science term in an encyclopedia. The page doesn't merely throw out the word, it explains it in terms of explotation by multinational corporations and consequent political destabilization. There is also a separate article, Banana republic; I suggest you click on it and read.
As far as the username issue, you say you tried 10 times to come up with a "banana" name, and only "vomit" would work? Even combined with "silly"? It's a Wikipedia policy to assume people speak in good faith, but I'm having trouble with that one. Words can be disgusting and off-putting without being "bad". Bishounen doesn't exactly mean bisexual, but so what it it did? Is being bisexual a bit like being vomit, according to you? "Virgin" is a profanity?? You know, you're off to a bad start. If you want to contribute here, and show that you're not just here to troll, forget about this account and create a new one, and don't make a special effort to make it offensive. Theoretically, that would be block evasion, but I don't think User:Diannaa would mind. Bishonen | talk 09:36, 15 March 2015 (UTC).
- Hi there Silly Banana Vomit. I have not unblocked this account, but I've changed the block settings so that you can create a new one. Please think ahead and choose a name that demonstrates you are interested in contributing seriously to the encyclopedia. -- Diannaa (talk) 13:52, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
Thank you.
[edit]1. Thank for fixing the settings. Unblock would have been preferred but your solution is workable.
2. I am not offended by the term Banana Republic. However, it could give the wrong meaning since that term implies corruption and that paragraph was not about corruption in Guatemala. On the other hand, I am not particularly interested in that paragraph for now.
3. What I am more interested in is fixing that article. It jumps from topic to topic. In particular, it covers family growing then many sections later covers corporate growing. It seems that someone may have written an article about Cavendish bananas then stuck it in the banana article causing some topics to be repeated
4. I ask that you (everyone, including me) stop using this page and head to my new user page for any discussion. Silly Banana Sad (talk) 15:20, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
