Rustic Roads
[edit]SigmaJosh, I saw the message above about roadfans. I had never heard of the term, but if roads is your thing, I noticed that there's a great deal of rustic roads (< ref >Rustic Roads Guide, 2018, Wisconsin DOT< /ref >) that get no mention in their respective county or town articles. I added the rustic roads material for just two counties; there is a lot more that could be done if you want using just this source. Don't feel like I'm really pleading; this is a just-in-case-you-are interested kind of thing.--Epiphyllumlover (talk) 03:38, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
Rustic Roads are somewhat my specialty, but roads where they’re nearby are more likely to be covered. I will look into it eventually. Thanks for informing me otherwise! SigmaJosh (talk) 22:31, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
Plenty of new Wisconsin road pictures
[edit]In February this past year, someone took a lot of pictures driving along the interstate and various highways in Wisconsin. They are all on flickr and in a suitable license to be uploaded to commons. I have done a minority of them already, but I'm letting you know in case you are interested as the album includes pictures of Wisconsin Highway 147 and Two Rivers. Here is a link to one of them I haven't done yet.
The one's I've already done include the following:
- File:Door County sign on Wisconsin Highway 42.jpg
- File:Kewaunee County sign.jpg
- File:Kewaunee Wisconsin sign.jpg
- File:Sign for the east terminus of Wisconsin Highway 29 in Kewaunee Wisconsin.jpg
- File:Door County sign on Wisconsin Highway 42.jpg
- File:Dyckesville exit and County P overpass in the Town of Green Bay Wisconsin.jpg
- File:Village of Forestville Wisconsin sign on Wisconsin Highway 42.jpg
- File:Junction of Wisconsin Highways 42 and 57 in Nasewaupee Wisconsin.jpg
- File:Lake Michigan Circle Tour sign on Highway 57 Nasewaupee Wisconsin.jpg
So far I've added one from Brown County and most from Kewaunee and Door counties. If this seems like the sort of think you are interested in working on, you can copy and paste my information from any of the files linked to above onto the experienced upload form. Then you can remove the bot reviewer tag and change a few things like categories and description to match the picture you are uploading.Epiphyllumlover (talk) 02:05, 30 June 2020 (UTC)
Detailed Wisconsin county road data in pdfs
[edit]Moorland Road
[edit]Moorland Road is notable in my judgement, and most people in Wisconsin and northern Illinois would agree. You would need historical information to help stave off notability concerns from other people. One place to look are the 19th century surveys: User_talk:Jeff_the_quiet#1850_Survey_Notes-- find the relevant township, sections, and ranges first, and then transcribe the brief summary paragraph included in each survey. The transcription can be included as a direct quote. If you did this for each terminus you would have two paragraphs; possibly other areas of the road could also be transcribed if you wanted to.----Epiphyllumlover (talk) 02:22, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
Describing the route won’t be a problem for me, except the history might be a harder one considering that unlike Manitowoc or Milwaukee, it would be moderately harder to find. However I know some relatives down there who might provide the key to the chest. SigmaJosh (talk) 03:38, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
- A search gives three historical societies in the area.[1] They may have old newspaper clippings related to construction or expansion.--Epiphyllumlover (talk) 23:01, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
