This page is just not about the Asiatic Cheetah description, it is more importantly about what is being done to save it and what need to be done to save it. I spent non stop 3 days making it and 2 years researching it, please just dont go in and delete the whole thing. You can make your own version and link it.
Thanks

+++++++++++++++++++++
This is not a general encyclopaedic content style article, I request you to please make that article from myne and post it as a seperate article and link it up. Someone is rewriting it too, see my talk page.
My article is a desperate plea, all the mentioned websites have to be be kept intact for other researchers and people who may want to write about it or make films, or talk to officials and researchers which can be reached on these websights. Also in India people dont even know if India ever had the Cheetah, they now think Cheetah is the same thing as a leopard for which they use this name commonly, and 99.99% of the more smart ones including naturalists and biologists think that Indian Cheetah is extinct for ever, but as you see now it survives...............
If you want you could just edit the english, keep all the info intact.
And ofcourse you could definately make a seperate shorter page for kids on your own.
Thanks
I know others might slash it too, but I tried.

Some guidelines

- Hi Atul,
Nice to see your work on the Asiatic Cheetah page. I can understand your passion, but note that you may have to change your style of writing to match the general encyclopaedic content style. So for instance it not generally accepted practise to publicise websites, projects or authors on the article pages. The current content is not in line with general practice of articles so do note that if you do not edit it to the desired expectations, someone else will. Let me know if you need help. best wishes Shyamal 05:14, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Shyamal
It seems you are doing excellent work here on Wikipedia on the wildlife and natural wonders of the Indian subcontinent etc., I really appriciate that. The Asiatic Cheetah article I wrote has been re-written as you know to suite a general audience, you are most welcome to improve on it when you get some time, you can also pull up the version I wrote for reference from the history page.
Thanking you and yes keep spreading awareness about our vanishing wildlife, thanks
I forgot to mention please do edit the "Diet" section as those African animals are not on the menu of Asiatic cheetahs, thanks
Just copying relevent info for you below from another post:

I think you should feel free to edit the article. Remember only that there needs to be some clear form and substance in the content. It needs just a basic writing principles which are easy to learn. The objections of all have not been on the subject, but in the form. It cannot be a mass of material with some parts in capitals, long headers etcetera. I edited the diet, but since you are the expert on the subject perhaps you could cite the relevant research papers and make the article more technically sound. See for instance Russell's Viper for style of a technical article. Shyamal 10:25, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
"ASIATIC CHEETAH DIET":
Hi Shyamal Following is the correct info on Diet of Asiatic Cheetah and I have mentioned the quoted references:
(1 see below) Diet: In Iran Asiatic Cheetah's diet consists mainly of Jebeer gazelle, Goitered Gazelle, wild sheep, wild goat, and cape hare.
(2 see below) The Asiatic cheetah’s range is restricted to the Central Iranian Plateau, with an estimated population of 60 adult cheetahs remaining. The main threat to the Asiatic cheetah is loss of their primary prey species, gebeer gazelle (Gazella dorcas), goitered gazelle (Gazella subgothrosa), urial sheep (Ovis orientalis) and wild goat (Capra aegagrus), due to poaching and grazing competition with domestic livestock. Habitat loss from mining development and poaching of Asiatic Cheetahs also threaten their populations in Iran. "Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS)" and the "Department of Enavironment , Iran (DoE)" hope to begin collaring Asiatic Cheetahs in the fall of 2006.
Reference on Diet:
(1): See bottom of this page for above Diet info quoted: http://cheetah.irandoe.org/asiatic/index.html

Meinertzhagen
[edit]How are Meinertzhagen's views on Salim Ali any important then someone else's? Meinertzhagen is a racist and a fraud. His views on Salim Ali should not have any influence on our understanding of Salim Ali; Especially not his views on Salim Ali's political bearings and alleged incompetence in the field. How do we know for sure his views on Salim Ali are accurate when he is a known fraud! User:Sohola

[edit]Thanks for your note, Shyamal. Since then, I have created the Zoological Survey of India, Indian Academy of Sciences and the Blatter Herbarium pages, and added to the Indian Wolf and Biswamoy Biswas pages. Some of them might be of interest to you. Cheers, Sdsouza 15:46, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
Have to confess - not a single journal have i consulted. Its amazing what a little bit of googling can achieve, huh? :). Check out the Frederick Henry Gravely page. Unfortunately, I unable to ascertain when he passed away, or if he has indeed shuffled off this mortal coil. Do correct any mistake you can find. Let me know of any other requests. Banded Krait
[edit]Hi Shyamal,
A rare treat for me, I caught a Banded Krait on 19 Sep 06 at Binnaguri and left it today afternoon. Went haywire taking snaps of this uncommon venomous elapid, some of which are on Bungarus fasciatus. And of course, I completely rewrote the article. My first poisonous snake. [edit]Thanks Shyamal, for that lil bit of info. I understand why Jimfbleak took them off without any comment when I added them.
Well your words are very encoraging, I have added some points to the talk page of Baya weaver, It would be good to see some light in those areas.
And also thanks for finding the rigth name for the-polka-dotted-betle (as I called it) ;-).

- You are right shyamal, It is an immature Merops orientalis leaving the long tail feather (sorry for bad terminology, I am still a learner) It looks the same as a little geen bee-eater, I could be sure after I compared my picture with another one on the Merops orientalis page.
- And thanks for the Baya weaver info you updated.

Have a look
[edit]Hi Shyamal,
I happened to take a picture of Myrmarachne plataleoides some time back in my office toilet and that lead me to learn and write up about it. Please have a look at it when you find some time and comment.
Also I am going to upload my butterfly pics shortly, may be you can help me identify them so that they can be of some use for the Indian Butterflies articles that you mentioned.
regards,
