[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Mdantsane has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://amitabhmitra.blogspot.com/2010/01/mdantsane-breathing-celebrating.html (matching the regex rule \bblog(?:cu|fa|harbor|mybrain|post|savy|spot|townhall)?\.com\b). If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Mdantsane Breathing do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.

The article Mdantsane Breathing has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- self published book by non notable poet
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. noq (talk) 17:50, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks a lot for your interest I only wish to point out that this book is an important creation highlighting a blacktownship in South Africa called Mdantsane through poetry and art of Physician Poet Amitabh Mitra who witnessed the changes pre and post apartheid period in this township. If you still feel like deleting, my only request to you would be to merge it with the main article on Mdantsane in Wiki so that the international community would know about the struggle for existence of the people of Mdantsane. This book is dedicated to the brave people of Mdantsane.

Dr. Amitabh Mitra
[edit]Do it if you like - but be prepared for possible disappointment if it goes. What I meant was that there looked like possible notability - but that I hadn't time to look further. If you do, avoid 'peacock phrases' which means anything not neutral in tone. Do a draft as a userpage - and call it DRAFT OF....- and let me know when it's ready to look at. I can check it for style, and suitability of references. (No blogs, forums, self-published etc.) Peridon (talk) 18:10, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks a lot Peridon, I will prepare a short draft with referencesShubhoshreemitra (talk) 08:01, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
I have prepared a draft page on poet/physician Amitabh Mitra on the user page Please let me know if it is ok What kind of reference links must I addShubhoshreemitra (talk) 20:00, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Draft
[edit]Well, it's a start. You need some references like http://www.dispatch.co.za/article.aspx?id=243665 and to look at other articles to get the idea of the style and content needed. At the moment, it would probably get speedied. Get what you can about Norway - that's a heck of a long way from SA and possibly a good claim to notability. Peridon (talk) 19:35, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks a lot Peridon for your assistance I have added Dr. Mitra's visit to Norway representing South Africa in a number of links and also South African Newspapers covering his art and poetry. They are in the User page with the draft Please do let me know if they are sufficient or not Shubhoshreemitra (talk) 20:51, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
- First glance at refs - impressive. Will look properly at weekend. Have a think about fleshing the article out (carefully!) to make it a bit more readable and less of a CV list. (Don't necessarily do it, but think about what could be done. If the refs don't do their job, they'll need sorting first. Peridon (talk) 19:52, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks a million Peridon Shubhoshreemitra (talk) 18:39, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- Refs look OK enough to me - not that guarantees anything... However, the article needs to be more than a list. Avoid 'peacock phrases' and try to forget you are connected to the subject. Peridon (talk) 22:45, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks Pridon, Lets give a try Shubhoshreemitra (talk) 09:43, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Flagging Amitabh Mitra for further review
[edit]Hello, Shubhoshreemitra … I recently encountered the article about Amitabh Mitra and in my opinion, it either does not verifiably satisfy the Notability criteria for Biographies, or it may violate the Conflict of interest guideline, or perhaps it violates a copyright.
I am considering tagging Amitabh Mitra (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) for deletion according to the Deletion policy … I do not have time to examine the article in depth at the moment, and it may improve over time, in which case this warning was premature.
I have created this initial entry on your Talk page because you are either the original author of the article, or else a recent contributor to it; I will leave more detailed information regarding my specific concerns about the article on its Discussion page … please respond either there or on this Talk page, instead of on my Talk page, in order to avoid fragmenting the conversation.
Be sure to read Ownership of articles, and remember that Some Other Editors (including at least one administrator) may not share your opinion about the notability of the article's subject.
I do not mean to imply that your contribution is unappreciated … perhaps you should read Starting an article … and remember, there was a time when I knew less about how Wikipedia works than you know right now.
To better understand why I have used this template, please read Flag templates for deletion warnings … I realize that some of the expressed possible concerns may not be appropriate in this case. — 71.166.147.78 (talk) 08:10, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Please format the external links
[edit]Hello again, Shubhoshreemitra …
Please format the external links that you are providing for Amitabh Mitra (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) by using the {{cite web}}
template … you can use some of the other articles as examples … whenever possible, use the <title>
from the HTML file for the Web page (assuming you're an HTML newbie):
- from your Web browser's menu, View | Page source
- search for the HTML
<title>
tag - copy the text up to the
</title>
end tag
Using http://www.waterholes.com/~dennette/1996/hopper/bug.htm for an example, we examine the HTML source file, and can make:
{{cite web |url= http://www.waterholes.com/~dennette/1996/hopper/bug.htm |title= The First Computer Bug! |work= WaterHoles.com |accessdate= {{subst:CurrentYYYYMMDD}} }}
That produces:
- "The First Computer Bug!". WaterHoles.com. Retrieved 2009-08-03.
Note: by using ISO 8601 date format (YYYY-MM-DD) one avoids 02/04/08 confusion. :-)
Note: the |work=
will add the italics, and if the source publication has an article (e.g.. The New York Times for nytimes.com
), then place it in [[]]
so that it will be linked.
Just read the Template:Cite web and Template:Cite news documentation (for published articles/reviews without Web versions), and you'll figure out what else you can use … BTW, I've never used it myself, but there's a {{Cite press release}}
template.

File source problem with File:Dr. Amitabh Mitra Physician Poet Artist South Africa.JPG
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Dr. Amitabh Mitra Physician Poet Artist South Africa.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:26, 28 May 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —fetch·comms 19:26, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Mdantsane tembeka.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Mdantsane tembeka.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —fetch·comms 19:26, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
Feedback archived
[edit]Hi there.
A while ago, you requested feedback in WP:FEED. Because it has been a while, and you'd received at least some response there, I have now archived the replies in Wikipedia:Requests for feedback/Archive/27. Please do not edit that page though; if you require further feedback, add a new request on WP:FEED.
I am trying to clear the backlogs; it would help us a lot if you could look at the requests from other users on WP:FEED and add any comments to help them out. Anyone can respond there, so please do take a look, and comment on the articles from other people.
If you want help with anything at all, you could either;
- Leave a message on my own talk page;
OR
- Use a {{helpme}} - please create a new section at the end of your own talk page, put {{helpme}}, and ask your question - remember to 'sign' your name by putting ~~~~ at the end;
OR
- Talk to us live, with this or this.
The last of those is particularly useful - please try it; pop in now and say hello. Best, Chzz ► 02:28, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

- I've still got some concerns. For example, it says, A practitioner of orthopedic surgery and trauma surgery and currently working as head of department and casualty officer at the Accident and Emergency unit of Cecilia Makiwane Hospital, Mdantsane, South Africa, he has published five volumes of poetry and exhibited his poetry art.. The reference at the end of that paragraph is to http://library.med.nyu.edu/library/eresources/featuredcollections/bryant/roster.html but presumably refers to the page http://library.med.nyu.edu/library/eresources/featuredcollections/bryant/bioshm.html#MITRA - however, that does not assert those facts.
- Another example is, Amitabh’s work in trauma surgery took him to Bhutan where he worked at high altitude hospitals of Chukha, Tsimalakha, Chimakothi and Thimphu under severe conditions. The Royal Government of Bhutan awarded him with honours for his exemplary work there. - that seems to be unreferenced, and saying his work is "examplary" is not neutral.
- Dr. Mitra's work during the apartheid era took him to Transkei and Ciskei is unreferenced.
- His present art is about the black township of Mdantsane sounds like recentism and possibly original research.
- he works at the Cecilia Makiwane Hospital is referenced to http://desicritics.org/2009/03/01/103634.php which seems to be something written by him, but I don't think it proves he works there.
- He translated the Bengali poetry of the late Prabhatkiran Bose is referenced to http://othervoicespoetry.org/vol38/bose/poetry.html which doesn't mention him...it doesn't prove the claim that he translated it.
- Also, there are too many external links; please read WP:EL - in particular, that "Links normally to be avoided" includes, "Any site that does not provide a unique resource beyond what the article would contain if it became a featured article."
- Normally, an article of this type has one or two external links - to e.g. the subjects own website.
- I hope that helps. Cheers, Chzz ► 15:09, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanks a million Chzz I have removed portions which are unreferenced and have added verifiable references I have removed external links, I can remove further if necessary I understand one needs to be neutral and I have tried to show him as a doctor/poet/artist from South Africa. I wish to thank you again for reading through carefully and pointing me out the flaws Shubhoshreemitra 19:41, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process.
