Hello Shiraziqbal. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Mrinmayee Godbole, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Shiraziqbal. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Shiraziqbal|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Also, cease editing the article further as you clearly have a COI and do not understand our editing practices. Hi
I am a close friend of Mrinmayee Godbole (whom the article is about). I have sat with her today and helped her update the page, as she is a public personality. I have done so in the capacity of a friend, and have received no payment for the same. Hope this clarifies things.
Warmly,
Shiraz Shiraziqbal (talk) 14:05, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi
We are in the process of helping her claim her knowledge panel on Google, and will be updating the same within the next hour. Do help us revert to the last edit by @Shiraziqbal
Warmly,
Shiraz Shiraziqbal (talk) 14:10, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
To clarify: I am not being directly or indirectly compensated for my edits. The edits are purely in the interest of helping to keep the page up to date with the most complete information on the artist 'Mrinmayee Godbole'. Shiraziqbal (talk) 14:13, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Praxidicae How do we discuss further? I am not allowed to post on your talk page, since my account was created this morning. Please engage. Shiraziqbal (talk) 14:52, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There is nothing that prohibits you from editing the talk page. PRAXIDICAE🌈 14:53, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Praxidicae
When I try 'Click Here to Start a New Topic', I see a popup with the message "You do not have permission to edit this page, for the following reason: This page is currently semi-protected so that only established, registered users can edit it."
Please advise. Shiraziqbal (talk) 14:56, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know where you're trying to do this but this very clearly isn't protected PRAXIDICAE🌈 14:58, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Praxidicae thank you for clarifying things on this very confusing back end interface. We have messaged on the article Talk page as instructed. Shiraziqbal (talk) 15:23, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your patience. Shiraziqbal (talk) 15:24, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please, for the love of my sanity stop pinging me. I will read responses when I have time. PRAXIDICAE🌈 15:24, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mrinmayee Godbole and I had updated her wikipedia page today, since she is a public figure. All the changes have been attempted today via @Shiraziqbal‎. However an admin has undone the entire set of updates with the following action: "13:46, 1 July 2022‎ Praxidicae Reverted 17 edits by Shiraziqbal"

We have provided an exhaustive list of the updates on the Mrinmayee Godbole 'Talk' page. Also please NOTE: Links & References for all the updates had also been provided in the file version as of "10:23, 1 July 2022‎ Shiraziqbal".

Apologies for the confusion. Shiraziqbal (talk) 15:44, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You were told that you could not edit the article directly and did so anyway. Don't do it again. As an aside, Praxidicae is not an admin.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:28, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Bbb23 we are new users, and did not notice the message to not edit the article directly. Apologies again. All we want is a resolution. Shiraziqbal (talk) 16:53, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
In addition to editing only the article Talk page, per the notice above, you must disclose your conflict of interest on your userpage and on the article Talk page so other editors know clearly what your purpose in changing the article is. Any change you propose on the article Talk page must be supported by a reliable source, be noteworthy, and encyclopedic. Otherwise, it will be rejected. Also, you must be patient because not a lot of editors watch her page. It is not easy for new users on Wikipedia, so it is best to restrict yourself to simple facts, not extensive changes or editorialization. If you have questions, you can ask them at the WP:Teahouse.--Bbb23 (talk) 17:45, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Noted.
@Bbb23 What is the procedure for a public personality to update their own wikipedia page.
Not every detail is published in the news. For example it may be listed that they are married, but they may be recently divorced without public fanfare. Do advise. Shiraziqbal (talk) 18:23, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There is no procedure because no one owns an article and we do not allow subjects to dictate the content that appears in any article. Articles are based on what independent reliable sources say, not the subject or their PR people. PRAXIDICAE🌈 18:26, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
