Proposed deletion of SS Hopestar
[edit]The article SS Hopestar has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Article is nothing but quotes from newspapers. No substance.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bgwhite (talk) 06:33, 6 April 2016 (UTC)

Bit of a rough start, eh?
[edit]As I predicted, the SS Hopestar has survived the AfD process. If you need any help, give me a shout. Apart from those pages linked in the Welcome notice I posted above, you might find WP:REFBEGIN useful. There is a lot to learn, but you'll get there. Mjroots (talk) 17:41, 7 April 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you. You probably dont know the stress this has caused me but you have released all of that stress. Thank you Thank You Thanx Sherlockh22 (talk) 18:05, 7 April 2016 (UTC)
- I do know, not every article I've created has survived an AfD discussion. I know the pain of losing an article to the deletionists. Still, onwards and upwards, eh? Mjroots (talk) 19:11, 7 April 2016 (UTC)
You probably know this but I say it anyway. Most people will be like me. One article to write. To try and learn all the stuff necessary to publish that article is, quite simply, not worth the effort. Without people like you, who have taken the time to learn how it works, I doubt anything would get published. My conclusion is that Wikipedia should be paying you.
I will continue to (try) and get other material onto the Hopestar site but without you it wouldnt exist so once again thanx.Sherlockh22 (talk) 06:40, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
Crew list, SS Hopestar
[edit]Wikipedia generally does not name victims of tragedies unless they are either notable enough to have an article, or it is relevant to do so. The crew of SS Hopestar would appear not to fall into either category. However, if there is an online source naming the crew, it would be permissible to add an "External links" section to the article and link to the crew list from there. I get the feeling that you lost a relative in the sinking, am I correct? If so, please be aware of WP:NOTMEMORIAL, but that doesn't mean we can't have an article about the ship. Mjroots (talk) 11:57, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
You are right about the relative. F Humble. Humble in name and humble in origin. I have uploaded the images. Lets wait and see. External links seems the way forward. Thanx. In reciprocation, Next time I am in Tyne and Wear Archives I will ask about Chimney Mill.
License tagging for File:Register of Deceased Seamen January 1949 Hopestar 2.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Register of Deceased Seamen January 1949 Hopestar 2.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 14:06, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
The fact that i uploaded 2 images titled Hopestar 1 and hopestar 2 with both images coming from the same source and only one of them gets accepted shows just how difficult this process is. Obviously I have made a mistake but I don't know where?

Speedy deletion nomination of Shaws lane chapel
[edit]Hello Sherlockh22,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Shaws lane chapel for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Your recent edits
[edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 02:10, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

Shaws Lane Chapel Berwick upon Tweed
[edit]Hi, I made some major changes to Shaws Lane Chapel Berwick upon Tweed. The whole article was formatted incorrectly in terms of the sections, I fixed all that. For future reference, you don't put an entire section header (like "History") in all caps, only the first letter. To make it show up correctly as a section you put two = signs in front of & behind the word, like this ==History== (I used the nowiki code there so you can see how it looks without it actually showing up on your Talk page). All your references were also done incorrectly, they're still not ideal as they're bare URLs but they're placed right now. I also created a proper reference list. You should take a look at WP:REFBEGIN and follow thru to learn how to handle this correctly. Hope this helps. JamesG5 (talk) 06:51, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
Hi James, many thanks.Sherlockh22 (talk) 09:36, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
- Saw your comment about something going wrong with the history section, I fixed it. You left a space at the beginning of the line, that causes the text to autformat in to one of those boxes. JamesG5 (talk) 05:08, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
