Regarding edits to Salmaan Taseer
[edit]First allow me to express my condolences regarding the loss of your father!
With respect to the post you made on Talk:Salmaan Taseer about erroneous information in our article, we are certainly adamant to correct and weed out any misinformation. The problem lies with the source which you provide for the fact corrections. A Twitter page, or indeed a tweet, does no meet Wikipedia's requirements as a reliable source. For something that is appropriately referenced in the article but still wrong (from the perspective of somebody who has first-hand knowledge about the fact) to be rectified, we need to be able to reference the correct information from another reliable source. Obviously, if the existing reference for the erroneous information is less than meets our reliable sources standard the information could more easily be removed. I hope this information is helpful to you in understanding how best to deal with this problem. If you have any specific questions (or general ones) just ask, and plenty of editors will be ready to try and help you out. __meco (talk) 20:00, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
- I seem to have been wrong in my initial response to you. As you can ascertain from the discussion where you originally posted, the information which you have provided does seem to be admissible. __meco (talk) 20:08, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
Cautionary note
[edit]Since you are closely related to the subject of an article, there are specific issues related to conflict of interest which you should be aware of in case you want to make edits to the article itself (as opposed to merely making a post on the article's talk page). I encourage you you peruse the information in the link I have given if this would seem to be an issue. __meco (talk) 20:05, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
Thank you
[edit]Shehrbano,
My deepest condolences to you and your family. Thank you very much for helping us out during what must be a very difficult time. On Wikipedia we want to get the facts exactly right, and I have edited the page to reflect your statement, including this webpage as the source.
I saw that this Daily Times article lists June 12, 1946 as the birth date. Some other news organizations may be citing that article. I have not contacted the Daily Times myself, but I am sure that Mr. Rashed Rahman would want to have all the correct facts as well.
If there are any other errors that we may fix, indeed we would be greatly obliged if you would be so gracious as to further inform us.
With profoundest sympathies,
Heroeswithmetaphors (talk) 03:37, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
Your father was my hero
[edit]Many condolences for the sad demise of your father. Your father was quite literally my hero. Being from the Christian minority in Pakistan, I feel that the stand your father took for Aasia Bibi was undoubtedly noble. May God bless him in Heaven and may you and the family receive countless blessings and happiness in days to come. My father had also been a victim of extremism in Pakistan and I know exactly what you are feeling and going through at this time. I have since fought these rising tides of extremism with words and penmanship. I wish you all the courage in this world. Arun Reginald (talk · contribs) 12:54, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
