Copyright
[edit]Someone has responded to your post on the help desk. If you prove you are the one who wrote it, we're happy to retrieve your article. Administrators (like me) can undelete deleted content. We just want to make sure your copyright isn't being violated by someone who claims to be you but isn't. As for wikification and other stuff, it's easy to learn. Start at Wikipedia:Tutorial and take it slow. If you spend a little time learning the basics, it will start to look a lot less difficult to post and format things. Drop me or permissions@wikimedia.org an email from an address which can be identified as you so we can verify your identity. Is your name mentioned on the person's website too? If you need any help, just drop me a note. - Mgm|(talk) 10:19, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- I'm guessing you posted material that was copied from another website. Please follow the instructions I gave in the previous response (drop an email to permissions@wikimedia.org from an address which can be identified as you so we can verify your identity). If you didn't write the text in question, please have the owner send a message to that address from an email address that can be identified as belonging to the site the material was located at. - Mgm|(talk) 14:58, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
- Of course george_bush@hotmail.com isn't neccesarily him, but when we're talking government information from the website of the White House, an email from for example administrator@whitehouse.gov could be used to get permission to use material from said site. Can you refresh my mind what material this was about? - Mgm|(talk) 16:10, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
Uploading images
[edit]I have been trying to upload a self-created image for months but I just can't get the hang of the form. (Judging by the response when I asked on my blogging community I'm not alone.) The image is a jpg but when I try all I get is a message saying '" " is not an approved file format' or something like that. It never tells me what I'm doing wrong or how to do it differently. Sorry if this is the wrong forum but I couldn't find one that looked appropriate. Sheenagh 15:15, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
- I'm guessing you're either using a Mac or you have a dot in the file name. Make sure there's only one dot (separating filename and extension) and make sure that the source file has its extension (.jpg) explicitly mentioned before you upload it. Let me know when you've uploaded your personal image, so I can see if the image information page is correctly filled in. - Mgm|(talk) 16:13, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
