Abortion map: US and Germany
Thanks, Kyd, I appreciate your effort at creating the abortion map. However, the are two issues I have with it. Please see what I wrote on Talk:Abortion_law#Abortion_law_in_US_and_Germany. Str1977 19:24, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
Abortion map: colors
That fixed my color problems with the map, at least. Thank you. --CastAStone 03:02, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
abortion
As soon as I updated the poll section I added a note to the Talk page - please read it before leveling frustrated accusations as you did. Goodandevil 21:59, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
:-(
You're leaving already? Sorry to hear that. You just got here, and I'm sorry about our troll problem (though while on an article like abortion they could only be expected). Anyways, have a good one with whatever you do next. Redwolf24 (talk) Attention Washingtonians! 01:38, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
Thanks and...
Wanted to thank you for helping manage stuff at abortion in my absence. I know I act as if I'm the only one keeping that place from exploding sometimes, but its a great team effort. I'm going to have to leave you too it for a while, I'm in the middle of a family crisis, but go ahead and "vote" as a proxy for me.--Tznkai 23:23, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

ABC
Still got me feeling hella guilty; if it meant keeping you I'd definitely revert back to your version and work it into something I can live with. The world doesn't share my nuanced view of ABC, and I know the world view takes precedence in Wikipedia.
If an article is stressing you certainly get out of Dodge, but I hope this won't effect your Wiki-participation generally speaking. Deal? - RoyBoy 800 16:46, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
- I was going to post this in Talk:Abortion, but reconsidered and then got your message.
- Well, generally we have to care in order put forward the effort of writing, so its its natural to be defensive about the things/people we care about. After all I care about Blade Runner and had a few tiffs over there about it. I also have to admit I've been neglecting abortion generally as my attentions have fallen on the signpost, evolution and intelligent design. I also care about retaining good editors, and you Kyd are a good editor; and so my priorities were a little misaligned above and I want you to know that. - RoyBoy 800 18:19, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
- You're certainly welcome re: the 800 club; as a former webdesigner I was constantly fed up with websites that not only where designed for 1024x768, but moreover very annoyed at sites broke 800x600 by only 5-10 pixels. Finding I could correct that on Wikipedia is a great way to exercise that general frustration. :"D
- I'm going to setup a sub-section so that we can work on the ABC section together. There is no rush, and if you need a WikiVacation, you take one as you've earned it! I'm going to revert to your version, with some of my modifications; as indeed it better approximates the widely held view of ABC issue. - RoyBoy 800 18:19, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
- Actually I might take that back (see I, and even you can go back on our word) and I'm going to modify my version with stuff from yours. I think that would provide a faster compromise. A wise women once said: "It's never too late, in fiction or in life, to revise." - Nancy Thayer - RoyBoy 800 18:24, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
- Yup, you can edit Talk:Abortion#New_version_collaboration to you're liking and we will go from there. - RoyBoy 800 19:41, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

Abortion and our favorite sockpuppet
- Thanks for the input! I've made a note of all the IPs that this guy/gal appears to use as well as the user name Goodandevil. I'll make a note of what I find and bring it to RfC to get some more feedback on it. I'll keep you up to speed. I'm going to find out what the hell Kwanzaa is now! :-p Jamyskis Whisper, Contribs 19:59, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
Our favorite sockpuppets
Ick. This is going to be more complicated than I thought. For a user to be placed on RfC, it has to be two users who can lay testament to his or her misbehavior and then both have to have tried to contact him or her on their user page to ask them to behave themselves. Even then, the complaint has to be against the same user alias, which causes a problem because he or she doesn't seem to be using Goodandevil much now - probably in the knowledge that the user alias is likely to be blocked some time soon. Maybe we can log it under 136.215.251.179 and point out that Goodandevil and the other IPs are likely sockpuppets?
Another couple of things. I would agree that these IPs are one and the same person. There's a clear pattern - far-right POV edits, and hiding the nature of the summaries by falsifying edit summaries as well as accusing others of POV. The interesting thing is that while 136.215.251.179 is based in Texas, the other three are German - I recognise them by the 84 at the beginning. There was a third not listed that I noticed - 84.146.238.75. I have a suspicion that this guy knows he is going to be blocked at some point and is making sure that he has an IP that cannot be blocked - the three German IPs are probably open proxies.
Any idea where we take this from here? Jamyskis Whisper, Contribs 20:32, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

- In answer to your question, as an Admin I can block and unblock editors and ips, I can protect and unprotect pages, and I get lots more trolls! Oh and I get a button for easy reverts of vandalism. KillerChihuahua?!? 02:15, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
- Well, its to ensure we can be trusted with the pointy sticks that we have all that questioning and voting. There are guidelines, most of which basically fall under the heading: "Did you have anything to do with it? Then get another Admin" - not generally Good Admin behavior to block a user who you currently have a content dispute with, that kind of thing. So we have pointy sticks but we have to be responsible. KillerChihuahua?!? 02:30, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
- Follow the how-to at WP:VAND and it has an effect. Use subst: and the -n switch, like this:
- {{subst:test1-n|ARTICLE NAME}}, replacing article name with the article name, that makes it easier for the admin to figure out what's happened. KillerChihuahua?!? 02:48, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
- Anytime... you don't happen to have someone in mind I need to wave a pointy stick at do you? KillerChihuahua?!? 03:07, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

(reduce)When I do RC, and an anon has vandalized, I leave a vandal warning message and then check their contributions. You'd be surprised how many vandalize article after article, but no one bothers to paste a warning on the talk page. So an admin checks, sees one warning, maybe two - but the vandal has hit 10, 20 pages. Try it some time. Once you have 3 or 4 pages in short succession, you add them to WP:AIV, and they will be blocked in minutes. KillerChihuahua?!? 03:51, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

Shock link
Just wanted to let you know I reverted your edit, along with providing information on the fetal pain talk page as to why your edit is wrong. Particularly that the "Shock site"'s makers also make medical charts and detailed illistrations of the nervous system, cardiovascular system, and a lot of other systems. Chooserr 01:33, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
Verdict 2/2 --- I wasn't the one who added it and unless you are saying that Pádraic MacUidhir intended to add a shock site I'd withdraw your comments. Chooserr 02:09, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

Abortion map colours
Great job on the abortion laws map, although I have a minor suggestion. How about replacing one of the shades of brown with another colour? I am colour blind and its really hard to differentiate between them. Leftist 11:56, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
- Excellent job! The new version is a whole lot easier to look at. Once again, great job! Leftist 05:47, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
- No, thank you! This has actually prompted me to be more on the lookout for any maps that could use a bit of 'colour modification'. Leftist 00:24, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

nonsense
It was nonsense, no question about it, but it has to be recurring, and then go the Rfc route, to do anything about it. Talk page vandalism is different from article space vandalism - it doesn't actually exist per se. I've reverted it, and three times gotten kudos and once gotten the "do not delete other editors posts" speech. I think you handled it perfectly. KillerChihuahua?!? 12:37, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
Anon giving trouble - only if you take it. Ignore this one, pure undiluted troll. KillerChihuahua?!? 09:40, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- No way to tell, really. Word of advice: no polls. Polls are evil. Leave the one you have now, but bad idea. and don't feed the trolls, truly. KillerChihuahua?!? 09:49, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- nonononononono! none of that! put it back. please. KillerChihuahua?!? 09:59, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- Ah. ok. I feel much better now. You scared me! KillerChihuahua?!? 10:06, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- I think I'm done for now. Just let them post whatever on the talk page tonight. They can rant all they like there. KillerChihuahua?!? 10:59, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- Concur on archive; wait until much later, after there have been no posts for several hours by our two trolls. Then archive with a 'Polls are evil, this didn't work' edit summary. One puppy's opinion. KillerChihuahua?!? 11:03, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- Yup, went through that learning curve myself, once. Thanks for the puppy pun, it brightned my morning (which is going poorly due to sleep deprivation and coffee intake delay) KillerChihuahua?!? 11:20, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for the coffee! I will always help when I can, as much as I can. Not-quite relevent comment: When Jamyskis gave you that barnstar, I was thwacking myself for days (still am) wondering, why didn't I think of that? I'd thought several times you deserved one, and... lame being that I am, never got around to giving you one. Take this as a belated endorsement of a well-deserved barnstar, delayed primarily because of my guilt complex. How messed up is that? KillerChihuahua?!? 11:34, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Ah, yes, plotting away. "How will we ever censor everything we don't like with no one noticing we are violating our own rules?" What good little trolls you are. (I suppose that is a personal attack, but I am simply using the same words you used about me. So it must be okay - although I am sure you will pull out the Double Standard Manual and find some exception that allows you to do it, but not me) Your efforts are extremely transparent. 84.146.206.84
- If we wanted to "plot" we'd do it in email. This is transparent by design; transparant because we want our actions, thought processes, and methods clearly available for all to read. You just don't understand NPOV, NPA, and process do you? KillerChihuahua?!? 12:11, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
- If I wanted a place to secretly scheme, I'd be on ICQ or AIM; if I wanted a place to quietly post my innermost feelings, I'd be doing it on LiveJournal. This Talk page is open to public browing, albeit, like a library, in a way compartmentalized for convenience: my discussions are relegated to my user page, as books on thirteenth-century Swedish instrument-tuning conventions are "hidden" in the appropriate section. -Kyd 12:19, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
Question
Protect the page for now, due to edit war? Or let her 3RR herself? KillerChihuahua?!? 03:20, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, that was my feeling when I finally went to bed. I cannot believe that I shouted on an edit summary, and that my shouting actually had the effect of getting her on Talk. Wonders never cease. At any rate, she seems to realize what our objections were, and stated her intention of finding more reliable sources of information. I should have posted here before going to sleep, apologies.
