Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 20:35, 6 June 2012 (UTC)I am currently involved in a basic discussion of the principles of a siphon on Talk:Siphon using an ideal, non-viscous, incompressible fluid. It's a teaching moment. I think it's rather straightforward that once the initial conditions for a siphon are satisfied (a constant fluid path from source to output and output height lower than input), it's governed by Bernoulli's principle. The energy per unit volume of fluid is constant in the source and through the siphon tube after flow is established. Limitations on lift height occur due to the limitation that the pressure can't ever be negative (and therefore maximum height can be determined by Bernoulli using gravity, density, height). This all seems pretty fundamental fluid dynamics. Any thoughts? --DHeyward (talk) 02:40, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
