An important notification concerning Metalvayne

I would e-mail you about this, due to the nature of this content, but I couldn't find a way to do that via Wikipedia. At 17:12 UTC, Metalvayne, under a sockpuppet last.fm account, left me another public comment mentioning you, and I don't care if I'm being biased, but it's downright creepy. He wrote the following:

You never know about stuff like this, but I recommend that you carry yourself with alertness and awareness on not only Wikipedia, but anywhere online, and especially in person. I don't want anything of ill consequence happening to you stemming from this clash on Wikipedia. Metalvayne might not try to pull off anything, but that does not mean he won't, because he could. I am going to email, at first, two administrators about this, as well as notify the last.fm staff. Backtable Speak to meconcerning my deeds. 06:58, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for telling me this. I'm surprised he cares about me at all, considering he doesn't take much seriously on Wikipedia. He didn't even bother defending himself at ANI. I appreciate you telling Wiki Admin about this, let me know who you end up notifying...(And thanks for reminding me that I really should add a contact email for this kind of stuff...) Sergecross73 msg me 12:39, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
All right, I'll keep you updated. I have contacted some administrators and the last.fm staff, and per the suggestion of some of the folks I contacted, I think I may contact several more administrators. Sometime soon, I'll shoot you an e-mail with further information. Backtable Speak to meconcerning my deeds. 23:22, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
I've received your email, and responded to you, and will just respond to you about this through that avenue now if/when needed. Thanks again for contacting of Admins, and the catching of stuff on Lastfm, of which I never really use, and never would have noticed otherwise. Sergecross73 msg me 12:56, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Good work w/ oprainfall

The editor using 99.225.8.89 went too far for whatever reason they thought they could act on. I thought I screwed up the most, but now I know better, and I shouldn't be badmouthing them for not reading all the rules. Still, they didn't ask for anyone's opinion and just replaced the article with that message. That's not exactly right. -017Bluefield (talk) 00:12, 31 August 2012 (UTC) (P.S. You can search for IP address info with the Wolfram|Alpha website)

No problem, I keep an eye on majority of the pages the IP vandalized, so I caught it pretty quickly. Even if I hated OpRa, that wasn't the right way for the IP to do things, not to mention, I fought hard at AFD to keep the article years ago too... Sergecross73 msg me 01:11, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

Dubious

Hah. I agree with it being removed, but I did kinda get a chuckle out of "will be built" being "dubious" in the Ouya article. -- ferret (talk) 19:21, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

Ha, I did too. I just didn't let on in my edit summary in case the person was actually serious, and/or so I didn't encourage more/worse vandalism. It was kinda funny though. Sergecross73 msg me 20:19, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

I think you're mistaken. I never used profanity on the Nickelback page. As a matter of fact, I never edited anything on the Nickelback page to begin with. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RickWilliams75 (talkcontribs) 02:17, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

I'm amazed you can keep a straight face while spouting such blatant lies! Salvidrim! 02:26, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
Well, any thoughts on what Salvidrim has to say? Seems he's disproved everything you just said... Sergecross73 msg me 03:00, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
All I see is blah blah blah blah. Anybody could frame anybody for anything on here. I'm sticking to my guns, and you can quote me if you'd like. I have not one time messed with the Nickelback page in any way. The edit that the Salvidrim dude showed? Well, it was ludicrous. He made it himself using my profile name just to make it look like I have been tampering with some rock n roll. With that, I'd like to ask why you guys want to take time out of your day just to try to frame me for this? It just doesn't make sense to me. I'm innocent, so what's the problem? Why bother? — Preceding unsigned comment added by RickWilliams75 (talkcontribs) 04:19, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
"He made it himself using my profile name just to make it look like I have been tampering with some rock n roll." -- Well I have to say, this is such an outlandish, ridiculous claim I cannot help but chuckle at your completely incompetent defence. :) Salvidrim! 06:12, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
Stop wasting our time with this nonsense. It's undeniable with edits like this that your account is vandalizing the Nickelback page. If your account doesn't stop making edits like that, its going to be blocked, regardless of "who" is making the edits. (Hint: It's not Salvidrim.) Sergecross73 msg me 12:36, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
Thank you, I was just contemplating whether or not I had the time to take this to ANI. (Though, ANI seemed almost excessive, considering how silly the user is acting...) Sergecross73 msg me 18:38, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
Yeah. Reporting a serious breach of policy to an administrator is what I believe to be the best option in this case. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 18:41, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

VG proposals

While we are working on our User:Sjones23/Proposal, would it be appropriate to get more feedback and suggestions from other regular VG members about this matter since I have already closed the RfC? Also, just so you are aware, I have started a discussion whether we should implement and update the A-class assessment guidelines for WP:VG. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 19:00, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

  • I had been wondering about this as well. I had noticed you only seemed to notify me in regards to trying to write that proposal, so I had wondered if you had wanted to work on the proposal with just me first, and then re-start conversations regarding it at WP:VG/GL once we had a pretty good base. (Which one could argue we have now.) If/when ever you want to bring others into it, that would be fine. It's your call.
  • I can try to look into your prosal about A-class stuff, but for the record, I don't usually deal much with the higher ranking assessments (GA/A/FA). (A lot of the articles I tend to heavily rewrite tend to be relatively obscure, and I tend to bounce from one thing to the next a lot, so the whole "peer review" things rarely happens...) Sergecross73 msg me 21:02, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
Okay then. As for my proposal, I am okay with working on it with you first and I plan to contact some other users to voice their opinions about this and then we should restart the conversations at WP:VG/GL. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 21:11, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
By the way, I have already asked Masem to help work on our proposal and give his opinions about it there. Once we have a good base, we can restart the discussions to seek other opinions about it. Would that sound like a plan to you? Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 23:03, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
Sounds good. Sergecross73 msg me 00:46, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

Minetest

Hey Serge, I contacted ItsZippy earlier today regarding some thing with the Minetest AfD and one user exercising their intention to sock. He said that so far, Only delete comments are actually valid due to policy. Me expanding onto what he said, I believe to be fair, the article will be deleted and over the next few days there will be more random keep's and a lot more valid delete's. Also he mentioned we should avoid conflict of interest and he believes that is the reason why the users are claiming we are in violation of policy. Anyway, Thanks for pointing out advertising intentions. John F. Lewis (talk) 17:37, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

I'll emphasize the COI stuff less then. Thanks for the update on information. I'm also impressed you seem to be so up on your Wikipedia knowledge considering your page only says you've been here a month or two. Sergecross73 msg me 17:45, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
I also impressed TheSpecialUser with my knowledge. I am to be honest a quick learner and I have an almost perfect memory. I forget the odd policy (As I did with the Minetest nomination. I forgot the advertising intention). John F. Lewis (talk) 17:49, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

Battlefront III AfD

Hiya. It seems you and Jojhutton have gone back and forth enough and you're not going to change each other's mind. I think it's best to disengage at this point and let the AfD play out. I hope the outcome of the discussion does more to sway his perspective on the content. Certainly *I've* had experiences where an AfD I initiated that was a !delete led me to reevaluate the work and strive to improve it. Fingers crossed. --EEMIV (talk) 13:30, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I've been starting to realize that too, it's essentially boiled down to a "Well I say yes" and "Well I say no" type argument. I don't plan on responding to him any further unless a new concept/perspective is introduced, especially considering it seems no one is really pushing for an all-out "delete", and if anything consensus seems to be creeping towards keep anyways. Thanks for your thoughts, I appreciate it. Sergecross73 msg me 13:39, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

Sonic characters

OK, so maybe the chickens aren't as notable, but just because the others only appear in one game doesn't mean they shouldn't be noted. I did notice the "2 games" thing up there and that's why I put it under the separate category of "One-time characters". Orbot, Cubot, and ZERO are less notable than antagonists Black Doom, Captain Whisker, and Mephiles the Dark, and guest stars Marine the Raccoon, Princess Elise (whom I forgot to list and was just about to when I saw that it had been reverted), and Chip/Light Gaia. Some of them only have one "canon" appearance, any other appearances being in a multiplayer mode or a spinoff (only reason Cubot's on here is because he's in the London 2012 Olympic games), also Egg Robo and ZERO are killed so the ones appearing in later games are different robots identical in appearance. So could we at least expand it to include one-time antagonists and guest stars? If you weren't the one who gave the "recurring character" restriction, can we reason with the one who did?

And if you don't believe any of what I said, then clearly you haven't played or studied most Sonic games as I have. If nothing I said affects you in any way, I'll be forced to assume that you're just like Erik Bignole. 24.65.99.129 (talk) 23:25, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

  • If you noticed the inclusion criteria (2 game appearances for a character to be added to the list), then you should have started a discussion before adding a ton of information that went against it. You shouldd have started a discussion at the article's talk page, and then get people's information to come to a consensus.
  • If you want to set up a new inclusion criteria, I'd think of an objective set of criteria, not just a subjective "I think so and so is notable so I'm putting them in". That sort of vague rationale leads to tons of arguments because it's not based on anything other than your opinion.
  • If you're going to add information to the article, you need to back it up using reliable sources. (Here's information on how to figure out how to identify a reliable source.
  • If you just want to write whatever you feel about any old character you want, like you've been doing, I'd suggest going to edit a Sonic wikia instead. Sergecross73 msg me 02:46, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

Side-Projects for "Lo-Pro"

I have a confirmed collaboration with Vocalist Pete Murray of Lo-Pro. I have verified links to provide that the write up is actually true.
It keeps getting deleted each time I re-enter it, but has been CONFIRMED, and RELEASED.
Also, I wasn't intentionally deleting the page as my computer has been getting hacked by an unknwon source.

  • I don't argue that it exists, I argue that it's not a "side-project", nor is it notable. The other things listed in the section are "side-projects": Long term projects regarding recording/producing albums, or doing tours with, notable artists (Everclear, Ghost Machine, etc).
  • The stuff related to "Release Me" is merely vocals for one single song for a Non-notable artist. (NPA). Additionally, I suspect that you may be NPA. I know he's been blocked for violating Wikipedia's rules regarding using it only for promotional means, and I've seen a number of IP's that go primarily just go around trying to add his information to various artists. This violates WP:COI and WP:ADVERT; Wikipedia isn't here just for people to promote their products. Sergecross73 msg me 20:48, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
    • Release Me is a 3 year long project that has the attributes to be counted as a Side-Project, as it has taken me 3 years to finalize it as well as getting confirmation from Pete Murray himself to release said track (as it was/is a joint collaboration) and will also be officially released on my forthcoming concept album which is slated to be released in 2013. These so called "various" artists are people that I have come to work with, or do work for (notably contribution of "The Runway" in the feature film Standing Ovation, as well as contribute updated information on artists that may have been, in fact thought to of been on hiatus. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.188.31.183 (talk) 00:56, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

Breakthru! (video game)

Hi Sergecross73. It seems that the game was also released for the Windows?

P.S. Maybe you can mention the SNES Mouse too. --Hydao (talk) 03:29, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
  • Hi, thanks for adding some to the Breakthru! article, no one's really touched it much since I created it a ways back. I can try to add some more to it, but I was starting to hit a wall the last time I worked on it, as I had kind of exhausted what I could pull from reliable sources and my own memory from playing the game. However, there's consensus at WP:VG/S that Moby games isn't a reliable source, because it relies on user submitted information without editorial oversight. So we really can't do much with that.
  • In regards to a Windows version, I'll have to look into that, I wasn't aware of it existing. Quite frankly, I'm having a hard time verifying that even the PlayStation and Sega Saturn versions exist, all I've seen are some database entries with minimal details, which sometimes indicates they weren't really released. (I've played the Sega Genesis and SNES version, and seen screenshots of the Game Boy one, so I know they exist for sure.) Sergecross73 msg me 13:03, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
I own the PSX game since 1995 or 1996. The Sega Saturn obviously exist:
Try reading the back cover: http://www.mobygames.com/game/breakthru/cover-art/gameCoverId,111687/ ...... in fact Alexey Pajitnov only endorsed the game... just like ClockWerx. if you check the MobyGames page, and see the credits for the 3 games in there, you'll not find his name, lol. P.S. so mobygames is not reliable, while allgame is a reliable source? hmm.... screw the sources, I'm pretty sure he only endorsed the game. --Hydao (talk) 01:45, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
Wow, all the years, I never knew that. I can't say I blame AllGame for making the mistake. The way his face is plastered all over the game and packaging, it sure looks a lot like he made it, especially if that gamebox wasn't there to read. (I never had a box with my copies.) Check the talk page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Alexey_Pajitnov ... comment from 2007(!): "I have removed BreakThru! from the list of works. Pajitnov had nothing to do with it, it was designed by Steve Fry. Spectrum Holobyte just put a "Alexey Pajitnov, creator of Tetris, introduces" note on the box and on the title screen of the SNES version, but that was purely marketing." — Graf Bobby ........... "I have removed Clockwerx for exactly the same reason." Psients --Hydao (talk) 02:52, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

Oh wow, I never saw that. Yeah, please don't misinterpret my actions, I wasn't trying to be difficult, I thought it was a pretty non-controversial change. I figured it wasn't on the list because it didn't have it's own article and was somewhat rare, I never even thought to check the talk page. I don't oppose removing it. P.S. http://www.zoo.co.jp/english/ ........ "Zoo is a developer of Japanese database management software and has been localizing and publishing foreign PC game software since 1993. Following the release of Zoo's PC game "The Wall" in 1993, it was then released in North America as "BreakThru!" by Spectrum Holobyte Inc. Since then Zoo has published the localized versions of several foreign PC software titles in Japan." --Hydao (talk) 03:46, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
Sergecross73, the article looks decent now. However I think I'm going to remove maybe 70% of those references. And I will add a screenshot too. Btw, gamespot is "reliable"? remember that the info is in gamespot because of gamefaqs. for example, if I change something on GameFAQs (change the release date for example), it will "affect" gamespot instantly. also, i don't think allgame and ign are "reliable". sometimes or manytimes they aren't, it really depends... in fact, in this case, the MobyGames page is the most reliable, just my opinion. it's funny when some or many wikipedians talk about "reliability"... but then, the BreakThru! article was so not reliable until 2 days ago. I'm not blaming you (ok maybe just a little bit, no big deal, don't get me wrong). but the fact is: I only played the PS game and it was more than 15 years ago, so basically I knew nothing about the game, developers and stuff. I only googled a little bit and realized that the article was full of wrong/incomplete info. P.S. During he next days I will create/edit the page about Zoo Corporation, you are welcome to help me. o/--Hydao (talk) 20:10, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
I understand removing the GameSpot, but I'm very puzzled by your "removing 70% of the sources" comment. Why would you do that? Also, the article isn't that drastically different. You added info about a Saturn-only port and we clarified that the game was only promoted, not designed, by AP. But regardless, you can start leaving these sorts of comments on the article's talk page, it's on my watchlist and virtually no one contributes to the article beyond us two, so I'm sure I'll see it. Sergecross73 msg me 20:23, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
As I said, no big deal. I added the info for the original Windows game, the Sega Saturn was already in there, I think. I will check all those links/sources later. Talk page, sure. o/ :)--Hydao (talk) 20:37, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

Hey hey

Hey, just to make some positive come out of the whole AIC/Bloomgloom/sockpuppet kerfuffle, I'd thought I'd say hi to some of the people I felt acted admirably during the whole thing. I see you've made the top editors list. I'm somewhere in the 600s myself. Most of your edits seem geared towards video games, which is certainly a popular area of work on Wiki, but what music topics do you usually gravitate toward. WesleyDodds (talk) 10:17, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi, and thanks. I tend to work on rock music articles from the 90's onward. My bigger contributions seem to be band's that I enjoy that clearly meet the GNG, but kind of fly below the mainstream, and thus their articles could a lot of work. Lately, for instance, I been cleaning up a lot of articles related to Porcupine Tree and Blackfield. I work on more mainstream bands too, but usually on more of a minor level, cleaning up POV issues, vandalism, or fans gushing over how great or terrible the given topic is. (That's how I wind up at articles like Alice in Chains or Smashing Pumpkins, the latter of which I've seen you edit, right?) Sergecross73 msg me 13:14, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, The Smashing Pumpkins was the first article I made into a Featured Article. I haven't edited it in over a year after frustration dealing with some edits I now can't remember, which was a shame since I was so proud of it for so long and would always try to keep it up with FA standards as they changed. I don't know if I'll go back to it, buy maybe someday. Speaking of the kind of issues you mention, I notice that when it comes to alternative rock articles, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Muse (band) are the biggest recipients of them (this ranking of most-visited pages in the Alt-Rock WikiProject is very illuminating in that regard). WesleyDodds (talk) 09:37, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
Well, for what it's worth, while I'm sure that the SP article probably isn't quite FA status anymore, I've kept watch over it and kept it from devolving too much either. And thanks for that link, that's very interesting to browse over. Sergecross73 msg me 12:48, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
Anything look particularly off to you in the current version of the article? If in doubt about its quality, you can always revert the article to an earlier version and retain the newer additions that are valid. And since we're on the subject, this is the band FA I'm most proud of, and one I actually wrote in part to function as a model article for others to takes cues from. Sure, it only works as a model for bands with a certain level of fame and discourse about them (good rule of thumb: if a band has at least one full-length book written about them, then the resulting article should come out roughly like this), but it's a sound intention, I've felt. WesleyDodds (talk) 12:54, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
It looks largely like the R.E.M article, and seems factually accurate upon a quick scan. It's more that some of the prose in the most recent events could use some rewriting, people have gotten a little excessive in the styles/influences section, and you never know when someone slips an unreliable/fansite type source when no one is looking. It's all the typical "instability stuff" that tends to happen after a band releases a new album. (Which is also why I haven't fixed any of this myself yet.) Man,I had my hopes high on that source, well I'll keep look to prove Sonic CD took place after Sonic 1 but Before Sonic 2,well I found two levels from 2011 Sonic CD that were scraped,I think it should be mention,Desert theme and a final theme level.98.71.52.142 (talk) 17:52, 18 October 2012 (UTC) ~Tailsman67~
Why is it you struggle so hard to find continuity between games that have virtually no story in them? I mean, the Genesis Sonic's are basically: Sonic good. Robotnik bad. Sonic beats Robotnik. The End.. There's no in-game story, and he randomly traverses between green hills, chemical plants, casino's, etc, without any sort of explanation or transition. Why do you think there's a story there? Sergecross73 msg me 17:56, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
I read alot of the Jap manual everyday trying to find more story(which has really help me understand more),If people take there time to understand they would see how he gets from green hills, chemical plants, casino's, etc(Sonic 3 & K showed more example),I know out there is one time in history they must have said something about it I just have to find it.98.71.52.142 (talk) 18:04, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

No, Gamefaqs reviews violate WP:SPS - anyone can write them. You'll need reviews that are written by actual video game journalists or editors. Like IGN or GameSpot. I had intended on cleaning up a number of those old Sonic video games, but it can be pretty hard to find reliable sources writing about them if they're from the 90's or older, since there wasn't much in the way of video game websites when those games first came out. Your best bet is to see if they received any reviews when they were re-released digitally or on a compilation (like Sonic Gems Collection), or look it up at websites like "Sonic Retro", which sometimes has scans of old magazines like Electronic Gaming Monthly that would contain Previews/Reviews. (Just about any printed magazine is considered a reliable source.) Sergecross73 msg me 14:12, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Characters of Chrono Cross, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Third person (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Sister Sonic

I see You created Sister Sonic a page,I remember telling you about it with this ip,User talk:98.71.51.113.:P98.71.52.142 (talk) 14:06, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

Yes, after you brought that up, I did some research and saw there was quite the story behind that game. I saw Electronic Gaming Monthly covered it multiple times as well, not to mention other sources, so I figured it would probably pass the WP:GNG. Sergecross73 msg me 14:59, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
I guess I have ta thank you for that,lol,thanks.:P 98.71.52.142 (talk) 15:14, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

Is...there anything in particular I'm supposed to be looking for or observing? Sergecross73 msg me 17:57, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
I was thinking it would be nice to mention in the Sonic 3 article.74.178.172.143 (talk) 18:33, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
Most of it already is though:

I already showed this information (about the disruptive IPs) to Sjones23. I think you may find it interesting, too.

Looks like a college kid from Canada isn't a fan of OpRa. Oh well, while they're in the wrong, they're not very active about it at least, and one of us always restores the info almost immediately as well. (Even if we didn't, I think Clue Bot would probably get it, as it's almost always a giant section's removal.
Anyways, thanks for the info, and I'll continue to keep the related articles on my watchlist. Sergecross73 msg me 23:28, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

Hint

Once you've made your case on a noticeboard, such as WP:AN, it's usually best to just let it develop rather than make frequent replies to points other editors say. You've obviously put a lot of effort into documenting the issues with the RFC/U, just give it time. I know it's frustrating but there's just not a great consensus on how to apply the civility pillar. It's unlikely that any who's evaluated the situation and posted a support or oppose comment is going to change their mind, so we're just going to have to wait and see how it turns out. It may take awhile as AN activity is using lower on weekends. Nobody Ent 14:59, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

Whoops, sorry about that. Didn't realize - the only other ban I actively pushed for was for someone who refused to really even participate, so it went very differently. This is easily fixed. Thanks for the advice. Sergecross73 msg me 15:26, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
Not uncouth, just not the most effective approach. At some point an administrator is going to have to review the entire thread to determine consensus, and a lot of back and forth doesn't make there job any easier. Nobody Ent 15:46, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

Chris Volz

This is a heads up that I reverted the redirect to Flaw as he has released a solo album and has another band (Five.bolt.man). If you still feel that he should be redirected to Flaw, you can start a redirect for discussion for Chris Volz. I have no problem if you want that.-- Everyone Dies In the End (talk) 04:39, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

He doesn't have independent notability though. Flaw being notable and Five.bolt.main being marginally notable doesn't make him notable. Yes, he did have a solo album, but it sold a meager 700 copies and failed to chart on any official charts. It seemed pretty clear-cut, so I figured my edit summary sufficed, but I'll go and start that discussion then...Sergecross73 msg me 15:31, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
I have listed it on requested moves. I wasn't to sure when you titles it 'delete or merge. I assume the move part because if not you'd list it under afd.-- Everyone Dies In the End (talk) 20:28, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
Don't delist the article. It needs to be listed there for requested page moves. I didn't change anything you said. I just changed the title so the bot can list it under requested moves. -- Everyone Dies In the End (talk) 20:52, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

It's frowned upon to alter other's edits. Please don't do that, that's not what I wanted to do. I've undone what you changed my edit to. That doesn't belong at Requested Moves. Flaw already has it's own page, so we don't want to move it to that article. See WP:RM, it specifically says not to go there for mergers. If you're contesting it being a redirect, then we just need to have a discussion on the talk page and find a consensus on what to do. If we can't come to a conclusion, then I guess I'd probably bring it to AFD, but it really seems to be a rather straightforward case here... Sergecross73 msg me 20:57, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

Again, it doesn't make sense to list it at RM. We don't want to retitle the article. Also, it's just a random discussion I started. You can propose whatever you want in a discussion page, there's no limits to what you want to discuss. Where are you getting this stuff from? Sergecross73 msg me 21:00, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
I see you've found some sources, so I won't push for the redirect anymore. You still shouldn't alter other's edits though, there was no reason it needed to be at Requested Moves. All you had to do is list off those sources on the talk page. The move had already been done by you!) Sergecross73 msg me 21:08, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

I'm not especially familiar with the movie, or writing movie articles, but I know Sonic in general, so I can help you some if you would like. The article is in pretty bad shape, so there's plenty for you to concentrate your efforts on there. Sergecross73 msg me 18:54, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

Characters of Chrono Cross

Hey, just wanted to give you some approbation for working on Characters of Chrono Cross over the past month or so; that's a massive undertaking and it's really awesome that someone's finally trying to put in the effort to cleaning it all up. --PresN 21:32, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for noticing! Yeah, I love the series, but just about everything else in the Chrono series is like GA/FA status, so there's never been much of an opportunity for me to contribute much there. Once I noticed how rough the character article was, I thought I'd give it a shot. I figure I'm in a rare position, having played the game through so many times (It's my favorite, hence the name.) and also being pretty up on Wikipedia policy and guidelines and whatnot. It really has been a massive undertaking, but entertaining too -- I'll try to keep at it. Makes me happy to see someone noticed; it's been rough for so long I was starting to wonder if it was because no one reads it in the first place... Sergecross73 msg me 21:48, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
I think it's because they're so difficult to write, really- I've only done one, Characters of Final Fantasy XII, and it convinced me to not do another for a long time. Wikipedia:WikiProject Square Enix/Popular pages has Characters of CC as the third-most popular non-FL list by reader views in the entire Square Enix project (and three times as popular as the list I'm doing, List of Dragon Quest media), and ahead of three of our FLs as well. Lots of people read them, it's just... well. In pretty much every case in WP:SE except for FF8 and FF12, character articles/lists are significantly worse in quality than the game/series article they're attached to. If nothing else, finding people who can write character articles is rare- prior to Niemti's recent spree, there wasn't a consistent VG character article writer of any sort since User:Kung Fu Man, who was mainly active in 2009-10, and even he wasn't really into doing lists. There's always plenty of people willing to argue over the blood type of Street Fighter characters, but very few who want to scour Google for a real reception section. Again, props to you for going for it! --PresN 22:16, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the link. I always find those "Most popular pages" lists fascinating, I need to remember to look for those. And yeah, it's true, it has been quite difficult to write. I've had to take a lot of notes on how other similar articles have been written. Good ones seem to be few and far between. Many are full of play-by-play plot summaries or trivial details. Even the talk page for the CC list article was filled with arguments over trivial details like "element color". I've been using the Characters of FF8 as a reference point, but your FF12 looks good too. Thanks, I'll use that as another reference point if need be. I'm not sure I'd have the motivation to do it if I didn't already know so much about the game, it helps that I know much of the information, I just need to find the refs to support it.
Anyways though, thanks again for saying something. It's nice having a positive conversation like this once in a while. It seems like these days so many of my discussions just boil down to people complaining to me that I'm enforcing policy/guidelines they don't like, or me telling people to stop bickering over trivial details.
