Your edits
[edit]Hello, this is in regard to some of your recent edits. Please read the Wikipedia guideline at WP:EL, for instance "Wikipedia articles may include links to web pages outside Wikipedia (external links), but they should not normally be used in the body of an article." Your edit [1] did just this very thing by putting an external link in the body of the article. In this case the link is not needed since the citation on that very same line already contains a link to that webpage. Further, since you're mainly doing this for one particular website it looks suspiciously like you're promoting that website (note, I'm not saying that you are, but a lot of people do use Wikipedia to promote websites that they are associated with which makes the rest of us suspicious when someone makes a lot of edits like you're doing). If you have any questions or comments about any of this you can reach me at my talk page. Thanks. SQGibbon (talk) 17:43, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
- You stated in your message "Let's just say that I indeed am using it for promoting something. What's wrong? You need facts and I need to increase my readership". This is in clear violation of Wikipedia guidelines which you can read at WP:SPAM and specifically WP:LINKSPAM where it states "Adding external links to an article or user page for the purpose of promoting a website or a product is not allowed, and is considered to be spam. Although the specific links may be allowed under some circumstances, repeatedly adding links will in most cases result in all of them being removed." Also, by admitting that you are associated with that website there is a clear conflict of interest going on which you can read about at WP:COI. In any case, like I said, there are already links pointing to your website in the citations listed at those articles (click the number at the end of the sentence which will take you to the footnote and the link to your website). And yes, I am a regular editor and not an admin. SQGibbon (talk) 18:07, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
