Genres

[edit]

Please do not use subgenres in infoboxes about recording artists. As noted at Template:Infobox musical artist#Genre, genres should be generalized. Please keep this in mind when editing genres in biographies. Thank you. — ξxplicit 17:34, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to 3OH!3 has been reverted, as it appears to have removed content from the page without explanation. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, please ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. Please do not delete content or templates from pages on Wikipedia without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Please stop going around and being a genre warrior on pages. Genres are sourced within article text and do not need to be changed. Wikipedia is not "Genres according to Sebizzar". Thank you.Candyo32 (talk) 11:31, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

But that's the point, GENRES HAVE TO BE SOURCED within the article's text. You can't just change genres to whatever you feel like they should be. Candyo32 (talk) 18:36, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is the final warning you will receive regarding genres. Per WP:verifiable all information on wikipedia must be sourced from WP:reliable sources. Changing the genre of Right Round to "Electro hop" using the explaination that Genre is electro hop - Mix between hip hop & electropop is not acceptable. It is original research. You have been warned several times about this and so next time you may be blocked/banned from editing without warning. --Lil-unique1 (talk) 01:47, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That is a long standing argument which i don't have time for because it is not supported by references. Industry-related sites like All Music have called the song souther hip hop. The whole point of the infobox genres is to list the main genres. The song is primariy hip hop. Though yes i agree it has electropop elements in its production. Ideally i would have mentioned electropop in the composition section. But unless there is a reliable source stating the song is electrohop it cannot and will not be added. that's not how wikipedia works. --Lil-unique1 (talk) 15:10, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
