Speedy deletion nomination of European Snacks Association
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on European Snacks Association, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Vrenator talk 10:43, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
Creating an article
[edit]Regarding the message you left me on my talk page, the page, European Snacks Association was deleted because it was very promotional rather than encyclopaedic. If you are going to create an article I suggest you look at Wikipedia:Starting an article also WP:CORP for some useful tips. Maybe create it first as a sub-page of your user page and then put in a Request for Comment before moving it to a live page. Vrenator talk 14:54, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
Dear Vrenator, I am sorry to disagree, but this is not soapbox - again otherwise you can delete all the other associations pages. Here the link to my previous employer organisation which I mirrored when preparing the new one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UITP I wonder where their non-soapbox (or encyclopaedic) content is provided - it is IDENTICAL. Can you please be so kind to explain the difference (I read the article how to set-up a wikipedia article already)? Thank you very much in advance for your reply. Kind regards, SebastianSebastianemig (talk) 15:07, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
- I cannot comment on the other articles as I did not review them and I don't have access to the deleted page to compare it. Other articles exist is not a criteria for inclusion. I did not delete it but I nominated it for deletion because it came across as very promotional and the Admin User:RHaworth who deleted it must have agreed. Vrenator talk 15:50, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
Thanks Vrenator, I will redraft and re-upload. Have a nice weekend, Sebastian
- Thank you for declaring your COI. Kindly have the decency to wait until someone with no COI thinks the assocition is notable and writes about it here. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 20:53, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
Dear RHaworth, Thank you very much for your post. I have updated my user page indicating my interests and profession. Thank you very much in advance for "unblocking" the wiki-article? Kind regards, Sebastian
- Users get blocked. Articles get protected. But European Snacks Association is not (yet) protected. So what are you talking about? — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 00:49, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
Dear RHaworth, sorry for not being clear. I meant after I edited my user page re COI, may I kindly ask you when the article can be accessed by public? Thanks! Kind regards, Sebastian
- The article will be accessible by the public when someone with no COI comes along and writes a new version. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 04:33, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
Dear RHaworth, Thanks for your quick reply. I can tell you that e.g. the article of the UITP association is written by someone working for Uitp (Uitp staff) and I dare to say that this is the case for most of the commercial organisations' articles. But I agree to the rules and hope that a person without COI will publish something. One short question: If someone creates an article about the snacks association, am I allowed to modify it if something displayed is incorrect? Thanks, Sebastian — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.5.116.242 (talk) 04:44, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- Of course you are - providing you substantiate your change by reference to a reliable source. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:54, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
