Extra buttons
You didn't ask for them but I thought you might find them useful:
Hello Seasider53. Your account has been granted the "rollbacker" and "pending changes reviewer" user rights. These user rights allow you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes and quickly revert the edits of other users.
- Please keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin).
- The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection enabled is located at Special:StablePages. You may find the following pages useful to review:
- Wikipedia:Reviewing pending changes, the guideline on reviewing.
- Wikipedia:Pending changes, the summary of the use of pending changes.
- Wikipedia:Protection policy#Pending changes protection, the policy determining which pages can be given pending changes protection by administrators.
Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of reviewer or rollback. If you no longer want either of these user rights, contact me and I'll remove it, alternatively you can leave a request on the administrators' noticeboard. Happy editing! Discussion on the TrueDepth Camera autofocus change on the iPhone 14 Pro
The TrueDepth camera *system* contains all the sensors in the front. The TrueDepth part comes from the infrared camera in combination with the dot projector and the flood illuminator. The front camera is what actually got autofocus and I think the article should reflect that.
See here for the iPhone X: https://photos5.appleinsider.com/gallery/30966-51220-22813-28065-TrueDepth-l-l.jpg
They moved stuff around and combined flood illuminator and dot projector on the 13 Pro, so the reference is not perfect. 194.39.218.23 (talk) 06:42, 18 October 2023 (UTC)

reversion on Larry Page talk page
Apologies if that was not the place for it but I did not intend that as an idle, "message board" type question. Page's real last name is Davies, and he managed the Kinks, hence the question. If he is related to the Davies brothers then it would be notable, especially since he was fired. 108.28.226.250 (talk) 02:01, 5 November 2023 (UTC)
GiB
Please see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Dates and numbers#Quantities of bytes and bits. Specifically, "specify a binary definition in an article on RAM" (i.e. GiB). Please self-revert your edit. --Yamla (talk) 11:34, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
- The source in the article uses "GB", as does the source in the article for the SE 2. Also, the article for iPhone 15 (and seemingly most of the iPhone articles) uses GB.
- As for "specify a binary definition in an article on RAM", the iPhone SE (3rd generation) isn't an article on RAM. Seasider53 (talk) 11:54, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
- That part of the article is about RAM. --Yamla (talk) 12:14, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
- Yamla, from your ref "The IEC prefixes kibi- (symbol Ki), mebi- (Mi), gibi- (Gi), etc., are generally not to be used except:
- when the majority of cited sources on the article topic use IEC prefixes;
- in a direct quote using the IEC prefixes;
- when explicitly discussing the IEC prefixes; or
- in articles in which both types of prefix are used with neither clearly primary, or in which converting all quantities to one or the other type would be misleading or lose necessary precision, or declaring the actual meaning of a unit on each use would be impractical."
- Yamla I'm not sure you understand what you are doing here. I have reverted your editrs. Please don't accuse me again on my talk page of unconstructive edits2A02:C7C:5B52:EF00:88B:C0E:6958:AF88 (talk) 14:15, 14 November 2023 (UTC)

do you know the diff between historic and historical?
do you know persons should only be wiki linked once?
do you understand you should leave an edit summary?

- The paragraph you left began "In December of that year, the Justice for Kirsty Campaign Committee..." without a reference to a year, since you removed it. If it was referencing the year in the paragraph above, it was still incorrect. Seasider53 (talk) 18:43, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
- thanks for your collaborative edits; you still haven't explained your lack of edit summary, your misunderstanding of the word "historical", or your reversal of the overlinking to tangential.
- i think you can do better if you try.

- and your editing summary seems poorly thought out.

Problem you referred to has been fixed
Re your post at AN/I: I fixed a misapplication of the {{Reflist-talk}}
template which should have kept the YouTube references along with the proper topic section. [1] Apparently not having that space afterwards messes things up. Before the fix, you mentioned [2] that the links (now gone) weren't related to your post. Now that the problem is fixed, I thought you might want to edit that part out of your post. I wouldn't change another editor's words myself. Cheers. signed, Willondon (talk) 18:57, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

- In that case I direct you to WP:IPECPROXY where there's directions on how to request IP block exemption through email to the checkusers' list. Yes, I could give it to you myself but ... a) I'm not familiar enough with you as an editor to feel comfortable doing that, and b) the recent block history, even if the last one was by an admin who spectacularly imploded and banned themselves later, would also make it hard to defend if I were asked to. Daniel Case (talk) 16:32, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
- This isn't what the pop-up says to do when I try to edit. I might as well just wait for the auto-expire now. (The other block I received was from an admin who lost his privileges shortly thereafter, but I digress. My block was not undeserved.) Seasider53 (talk) 16:44, 23 December 2023 (UTC)

You asked a question in the edit summary, so I am answering it here. I monitor this page, Wikipedia:Database reports/Interlanguage link templates need to fix, because I've noticed that people don't always use the {{Interlanguage link}} template correctly. The report said that Guillaume Couillard was "Missing converted local page, or the foreign / local page is not link to wikidata". In this case it was because there was a discordance between the en.wiki, fr.wiki and wikidata. On the en.wiki there was Guillaume Couillard (tennis player) and on the fr.wiki there was fr:Guillaume Couillard which corresponds in English to Guillaume Couillard (settler). So, I cleaned it up by pointing everything to the right place, and adding the link in a few places that didn't have it. This is why I am reverting you. --evrik (talk) 22:21, 15 March 2024 (UTC)

Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. OK--I really need you to explain why you are making these reverts. Where's the vandalism? And where is the vandalism here? I'm looking at an unblock request from an editor whom you reverted twice last year without a word of explanation--do I have to explain why you might have reverted them a year ago? I can't do that. Please, explain in edit summaries, esp. when marking something as vandalism when it isn't obviously vandalism. Drmies (talk) 19:01, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- Ah, apologies. I saw an IP editor before that, making a similar edit on the Elliott Smith article, was reverted with a reason given. I thought it was the same IP (it wasn't, but could still be the same editor?) just ignoring the warning. I was editing on mobile and will refrain from reverting unless I’m in a position to give an edit summary. IPs adding random music genres has been an issue too. Seasider53 (talk) 20:21, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- No doubt, and I typically follow Binksternet's advice in handling such IPs--but edit summaries are necessary for collaboration, and especially for administrators like me in fighting disruption. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 21:53, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
Johnny Marr
Hi - the article confirms he's an Irish musician so putting him in the category "English Musicians" doesn't make sense. So I changed it to Irish musician. DanielTokenhouse (talk) 11:23, 24 April 2024 (UTC)

Good Will Hunting
A lot of Good Will Hunting was filmed in Boston, including the famous scene at the L Street Tavern. They also filmed some parts in Toronto, however a lot of the movie was actually filmed in the city of Boston (and next door Cambridge). IntrepidReason (talk) 07:55, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- I am aware. What is your reason for giving this information? Seasider53 (talk) 10:32, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- Reverted edit 1222438616 (it says "wasn't in Boston"). IntrepidReason (talk) 19:29, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- L Street Tavern is in South Boston. Barely any scenes were shot in Boston itself. Seasider53 (talk) 19:35, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- L Street Tavern is in South Boston. Bunker Hill Community college is Charlestown. They were in front of the old au bon pan in Harvard Square. Matt Damon and Robin Williams sat on the bench together in the Public Garden. Matt Damon took the Red Line. Ben Afleck's character Chuck's job interview was at 60 State Street. They used the court house in the Seaport. They filmed at MIT (Cambridge, next to Boston). A lot of scenes were actually filmed in Boston. IntrepidReason (talk) 19:45, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- You aren’t understanding what constitutes Boston and what are cities outside of Boston. And only the exterior of the college was used for establishing shots; the interior was filmed elsewhere. Seasider53 (talk) 19:50, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- Charlestown is a Boston neighborhood. South Boston is a Boston neighborhood. 60 State Street is Downtown Boston. The Public Garden is in Boston. The Seaport is a Boston neighborhood. I remember them filming in Boston over 25 years ago. Matt Damon and Robin Williams were in the Public Garden. Cambridge is not Boston, but it's right over the bridge. Many big scenes were filmed in Boston. IntrepidReason (talk) 19:52, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
