A couple of notes on your recent posting to the Talk:Democracy page. Encyclopedia articles are generally not conducive to idiosyncratic personal definitions, so you are unlikely to have much luck in contributing to the article on this basis. Also, a 2000 word essay plunked onto the Talk page is annoying for those using that page to discuss the article, and both the content and the contributor are likely to be ignored. I would strongly suggest you create a page in your user space called User:Sean1K2GA9/Definition of Democracy, transfer your text there, and replace it on the Talk page with a brief paragraph of explanation and a link to the full text. - David Oberst 23:27, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No offence intended. However, given your opening statement "As far as I know no government today is democratic...", I am more tempted to reach for a synonym than an eraser. This may be an interesting thesis for a personal essay, but an encyclopedia reports existing usage. If you are planning on contributing text to general articles such as Democracy on this basis, please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia guidelines such as WP:NOR, WP:NPOV, WP:VERIFY, WP:CITE, etc. - David Oberst 23:29, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fine, I removed it, but usage can mean two things: Correct usage, and popular usage. In addition, we all aknowledge that there can be more than one usage. Are you saying that popular usage is what is important for wikipedia? God forbid. Think, what would happen with other pages. A "kid" would no longer be a baby goat, but rather a human child. A faggot would be a homosexual, not a stick of wood for fire. Blue bird would actually mean bluejay, and probably worse thing than I can think of. Sean1K2GA9 06:05, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
