My Brother

I honestly, I love you for jumping into the fray, and helping my cranky and very twisted mind. I just had a couple of years of B.S. from Commons and could not stand any more, even, sadly, when it came to a time when others were trying to explain their bizarre system (to me it's bizzzzzzzzare!, OK?). I sent a message to Sssoul already, but you saw what was bothering me. Today I did go back and put photos I uploaded in categories. As long as you'll make the damn categories, I'm fine putting them in there. Oh. Two requests: One, the photo for Jill Sobule needs cropping off the top if ever you find the time (you'll see it's unbalanced), and does this [2] seem strange, two pics on the same page? No problem!!! I cropped the Jill pic. and made the category and added all 3 Jill pics there, you may find it. I am clueless about the Joe Camilleri pic though, i dont know how the bot did it, maybe it was an error. You should leave a msg to the bot's creator and ask about it first. Record and song pages

S-- Will you teach me how to really put together an album page (and if possible) a song page. Also a good discography page. I honestly don't know where you look to find the varied sources and scores that grade the album! Next time you embark upon one, or a discography, would you please keep me in the loop of what you do, how you approach it, and where you find info, you know, each step as you move along. Maybe keep a list in your sandbox, like, 1. started new page, with title and infobox I found _____<-(here). Then, 2. How you fill up the infobox or if you set up the outline of the article. That's the first thing I look at, anyway, the framework of where everything will go. Yours are honestly the benchmark of approaching all that stuff, wouldn't be hard for me to learn once I've seen it in actual progress. What do you say?

I don't know what I can offer in return except to devote myself from this point on when you want any proofreading, copyediting requests you have, and not put it off. I'm sorry I wasn't reliable with that, I'm sorry. I also put together "request templates", sort of like canned requests for people's photos on Flickr, and also follow-up canned instructions as to removing copyrights and links explaining Creative Commons and Wikimedia Commons, should they choose to upload themselves. Also convincing answers if they are nervous. It is not easy to get people to give up their copyright, so I think it'd be helpful to you too. I keep it in my email drafts and am about to revamp them, in case you wish to use the wording too, and just need to make changes to the second one, as to "how" to upload the photo, since Commons has changed things again.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 12:44, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for categorizing

I noticed in Commons you categorized a couple of the images I uploaded (there were like, ten or so I did in the last couple of days). For some reason when you follow Spinningspark's manual upload info, the same boxes to be filled in appear that you described including the little (+) sign for categories, but sometimes the categories don't stay for some photos and they do for the rest. Can you show how this is done?

ON The Who's album, Tommy, I was thinking of possible ways to show other views of the album cover. There are different views of the cover here: [3] How would you deal with putting two covers on the page? I've no clue. Same is true for other albums by the Who. See here: [4]. Any ideas? Hey Suede, I was wondering if I could possibly hit you up for another audio sample? I just created an article for "Breathe", and I think an audio sample could benefit it. I was thinking maybe 1:34 to 2:03 would work (since the song is 5:00 exactly that's just within the 10%/30 second range) because that part includes the lyric "16th of June", which is used in the song (and noted in the article text) as being a direct homage to James Joyce's novel Ulysses. Hahah, for the Composition I usually pluck it from NLOTH (done) and re-word it (not done) so it flows together nicely, then go through the other references in NLOTH for any scrap details I can scrounge up, such as a quote or an unmentioned detail on song structure. Then in the Reception section I generally go through the 10 infobox reviews, plus the ones in the Reception area such as Uncut and Pitchfork. Absolutely, i dont have any knowledge about notes actually, so I only wrote (on your sandbox) what I could make out. I will look for other U2 songs on it no problem, but you can also install the software, it'll only be temporary, you can uninstall it as soon as you finish the articles. 25 October (this Sunday) the band are filming their concert in Pasadena for a DVD release. However they are also streaming the concert live over YouTube, starting at 8:30 PM Pacific time. It will be the first time a concert has ever been streamed live on YouTube. I can't wait for it, though it means I'll be up very late (I don't know what time zone you're in, but an 8:30 PM local time start means an 11:30 PM start for me). As you may have noticed, No Line on the Horizon has just been put up for it's second FAC. Woot. Assuming that no further issues are raised about the sources by any other editors, I think that the only other possible obstacle is the rationale for the two audio clips, which have both been expanded upon since the last FAC. There were no prose issues last time around, alternate text is present in each image, and just about every link has been archived, so even if the original sources are taken down the information will remain. I've left you alone, realizing you'd be busy with Snow Patrol stuff since you said they're touring. (NOT ignoring you!) Wanted to know if you could help me with a few things:

• Can you please make a couple Categories in Commons for me? They'd be-

1. Session musicians including photos of Waddy Wachtel, Pino Palladino, Steve Jordan, David Lindley

and Jerry Jemmott

1. Need a Category for Swiss Hard rock musicians! In fact, can you check and see if there are Categories for Singer-Songwriters?
2. Need a category for Slide guitarists: Ry Cooder, Sonny Landreth, Derek Trucks, Lowell George, Mick Taylor, Warren Haynes
3. Need a Category for multi-instrumentalists: David Lindley would be highly appropriate for this! Not to mention all kinds of musicians!

• I don't understand when you told me on my talk page to fill out a template and place it on top of the image to be deleted. There are quite a few I uploaded twice by accident, since the bot was so slow, or cause I was in my first couple of weeks learning how. One is an unused copy in red of Derek Trucks you placed in his gallery!
• How do I find my sandbox that you created for me?
• Would you be willing to archive everything on my talk page for me but the little template at the top with the WP information?

What is the difference?

Here is a photo, taken off the screen at a big ampitheatre of Clarence Clemons, the saxophone player for Bruce Springsteen: [5] Now I want to know why my photo of Jeff Sipe wasn't OK with Commons because someone took a photo from the big monitor screen since he had crappy seats and couldn't see the stage; but here is the same scenario, and yet, THIS photo is OK. No, it's not my botched mistake, but since I haven't tried it yet, someone messed up the "double cover" concept with a record album page here: [6] If you have a minute, think you can fix this? I haven't forgotten to check out the Snow Patrol articles, (trust me) but I had also committed to helping copyedit a bunch of Beatles "satellite articles" and thus, I ran into this. Just Say Yes

Hi i noticed you dispute some of the corrections i have made to the article. Here is what i've changed and why:

1. It is not encyclopedic to use retailers in the release history, this has been replaced with CD or digital download.
2. release history should contain alternative labels e.g. Interscope is their label in the UK
3. Ultratop/tip is only the chart's provider, you need to distinguish that it is the belgium chart.
4. WP:Songs says under the guidance for the infobox for singles that "the a-side feature should only be used if a significantly different recording is included in the release" This also applies to the b-side and is common practise. You only have to look at some the critically acclaimed single releases on wikipedia to see that none of them include remixes as b-sides.

Additionally im not happy with the statement sourced from the examiner saying that just say yes was written for Gwen Stefani. Nicole Scherzinger said numerous times with sources already in the article that she heard the song from Lightbody and that she was honoured to be given the song. No other source confirms the news that it was originally meant for Stefani. This conflicts with information already in the article. I think it should be removed unless another more conclusive source can be found to back up the claims made by the press-like source.
