This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Harriet Wiseman Elliott, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://library.uncg.edu/depts/archives/VCdesc/VSAdw.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 19:48, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Ramsey Family Papers, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Ramsey Family Papers is unquestionably copyright infringement, and no assertion of permission has been made.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Ramsey Family Papers, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, such as in Talk:Juliana Royster Busbee, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 18:14, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

please stop adding pages to WP until we can get the copyright problems clarified according to WP:copyrightDGG (talk) 19:20, 17 October 2007 (UTC) Please see WP:DCP for the appropriate formality. The easiest solution in this case would be to add the necessary license to your own web site. But there are other problems, such as whether the subjects of the articles are notable for purposes of Wikipedia. Please get in touch with me or another administrator--You can do it by email through my user page here.DGG (talk) 19:34, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with,
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors,
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Business' FAQ. For more details about what constitutes a conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest. Thank you. --Ronz 19:51, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome

[edit]

Thank you for your material: I hope you persevere and can find a way to integrate your archival material into wikipedia. As the above posts demonstrate, if you intend to add a series of articles to Wikipedia, you will need to sort copyright issues and have a consciousness of general Wikipedia policies. But please don't be put off: if you would like specific advice or encouragement then please leave a note on my talk page. Dsp13 14:25, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And another (!) specific word of advice: it would be great if pages which are added to wikipedia could be categorized. For example, I've added a couple of categories to Mary Winifred Bushakra. Dsp13 14:29, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Process for asserting permission to reproduce pages under the GFDL

[edit]

Hi, I'm looking at the copyvio tag on DuMetz Family Marriage Contracts. While I have no reason to disbelieve the claim to copyright and permission, Wikipedia procedures are to ask for an email to permissions-en (at) wikimedia.org in order to verify the permission - details are on the tag. Can you please do that for those pages you have uploaded? --Alvestrand 18:17, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Concerning your contribution, Ramsey family, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://library.uncg.edu/depts/archives/mss/html/Mss004.html. As a copyright violation, Ramsey family appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Ramsey family has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Ramsey family and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Ramsey family with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Ramsey family.

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you. Aervanath lives in the Orphanage 20:49, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Octavia Jordan Perry has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

a finding aid is not an indepdent reliable secondary source. So we have not even one such source on the subject, and so no signs of notability at all.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 09:01, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
