[edit]What's your source? --John (talk) 16:53, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hi John...I am still learning how to cite sources, so I apologize for not being more stringent about including them. I will be careful in the future and will go back and cite where needed. Scotthistory (talk) 17:01, 17 September 2012 (UTC)

Nike
[edit]Hi, Scott. A belated WELCOME to Wikipedia.
I notice that back last September, you added this content to the Nike article. While you raise a valid point, adding a personal comment about sourced material being "suspect" is not appropriate. The proper thing would be to raise the matter on the talk page, or better yet, to simply add the contradictory material with a citation of Nike's website. Since it's a case of he said, he said (Otis Davis vs. Nike), a more neutral way of presenting it might be: "However, according to Nike's website, the waffle outsole was created in 1971", without the "suspect" comment, which indicates a judgment in Wikipedia's voice as to which is right and which is wrong.
I understand that you were still new to Wikipedia back then, and that you were still new to how to cite sources, though, so I'm not trying to come down hard on you. Moreover, if you ever have any other questions about editing, or need help regarding the site's policies, just let me know by leaving a message for me in a new section at the bottom of my talk page.
I have gone into more detail about your additions to that passage on the article's talk page. I look forward to collaborating with you. Thanks. :-) Nightscream (talk) 23:59, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome. I haven't been on the Nike page for some time but someone, or some people, have clearly improved it by uncluttering the page and adding additional content...kudos. Scotthistory (talk) 20:46, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
