Antikythera Mechanism
[edit]Do you happen to have a reference for your speculations about Archimedes? Could you add them please? (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Antikythera_mechanism&curid=89732&diff=140401377&oldid=140289307) --Oscar Bravo 07:55, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Superorganism
[edit]Hey, I just added a section (as well as some cites and a subhead) to the article superorganism, which you have previously edited. Can you tell me what you think?
Wirkman 03:00, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
I have discussed the issue on the bottom of the Talk:Meme page. If you have a different source you would like to cite, it would be appreciated. --Pixelface 21:29, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
Sigh- I suppose everybody has to deal with people like this sometimes.--Scorpion451 rant 16:14, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, I really didn't mean to upset you. I removed those sentences because I thought they needed a citation. You helpfully provided a citation, but I could not find the place in the book that supported those sentences. I realize I may have been too strict and that you were trying to help. I acted in haste. I hope you will accept my apology. If you say that book supports those sentences, I will take your word for it. --Pixelface 01:15, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for the kind words, and sometimes, yes, though, I find it hard for a picture to stare back when it has no eyes (j/k). Have you thought of using this as a reference? It's an excellent model.--Mr Fink 20:15, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Intersting, hadn't seen that before, it would be a perfect source. Thanks!--Scorpion451 rant 20:30, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi! A peer review for this article is in progress. I would appreciate if you would give us a hand as we attempt to achieve GA and, eventually, FA status for it. Thanks! →Wordbuilder 16:08, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi, still plugging away (slowly) at ‘System Accident’ article, and can use your help!
[edit]First off, thank you very much for your previous contributions and your thoughtful comments. I had belatedly written comments in turn. Someone has recently deleted them, and I’m probably going to re-add shorter versions of them later. The following is generally what I said.
The most important, I’m now open to the idea that the Space Shuttle Columbia was more of a borderline case, because there were people who saw the whole narrative arc, but because of dysfunctional social factors they had to be more sure than was realistic.
I would also like to eventually add additional examples to our article, maybe Avianca 052, maybe Apollo 10. And, I’m working on some long excerpts from a 1988 book that touches on Apollo 13, which might be our best example of all--because of the movie, because it’s something people are familiar with. (The book is called FOR ALL MANKIND by Harry Hurt III, and it’s about the entire Apollo program.)
And, I must confess : ) I still like the word ‘clunky,’ but as only one of several words that can be used to describe a malfunctioning institution.
Good luck with your writing, your thinking, and your studies, and whatever you have the time and energy to contribute will be fine. Cool Nerd 23:59, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Wavefunction query
[edit]Hello. I know its very late to ask now 4 years on - though I only joined wikipedia several months ago. Recently I have significantly edited the wavefunction article. When looking through the (extremley negative) talk history, I found this statement written by you:
- "this page has no meaning because it doesnt give the formula for the wave function. The formula for the wave function grows to several pages long for any system containing more than a few particles. The problem is that it is a recursive simultanious equation. When one reaches the entanglement point it becomes nearly impossible to solve without the aid of computers simply because of the time it would take to write it down..."
I was wondering... what is this "formula for a wavefunction as a recursive simaltaneous (system of) equation(s)?" I thought wavefunctions are solved from wave equations (ex. Schrodinger, Dirac etc), but didn't think there was "a formula". I have yet to come across this, and have looked far and wide for it. Could you write down some of it (if its so long)? Please reply on my talk page when you can. Thanks. -- F = q(E + v × B) 14:27, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
- Howdy! Nope, 4 years isn't too much of a lag for a wikiogre like me. "this page has no meaning because it doesnt give the formula for the wave function." wasn't a part of my comment, it was an unsigned previous comment- I was attempting to clarify that the integrals given in the article were as close as you can get to writing the formula down, given that there isn't actually a "X=..." type of formula for the wavefunctions, as the commenter after me mentions. I've tweaked the formating and added an "unsigned" author sig to that line (it was apparently posted before signbot made its debut) to make it a bit clearer that mine is a separate comment. I have to agree about the negativity of the comments on the talk section of that page, by the way. It amuses me how the strangest things get people ranting. Disambiguation link notification
[edit]Hi. When you recently edited Corpuscularianism, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mineralization (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

2019 US Banknote Contest
[edit]US Banknote Contest | ||
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |
