Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. --apers0n 06:13, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Please undo these additions, or someone else almost certainly will. WP:EL says:
"A page that you own or maintain, even if the guidelines above imply that it should be linked. This is because of neutrality and point-of-view concerns; neutrality is an important and difficult objective at Wikipedia. If your page is relevant and informative, mention it on the talk page and let unbiased Wikipedia editors decide whether to add the link."
The site you're trying to add, www.rootdown.us, looks promising, but please follow Wikipedia protocol. Also, it might be better to wait until the site isn't in "beta" (as of 7 Nov. 2006, it says "This site is currently in "Beta" or under construction"). thx, Jim Butler(talk) 06:26, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As a member of Wiki Project Spam, I am going to remove the external links to rootdown. My research through google leads me to believe that you are affiliated with the site. Editors with conflict of interest should wait for others to link to their site. I agree with the previous commenter--the site looks promising. Someone else may well add it as an external link someday. MKoltnow 22:08, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue spamming you will be blocked from editing. MKoltnow 16:36, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK. Sorry for going against protocol here. I was simply trying to add these links on pages that I considered only to be relevant. While it is true that I am involved in this project, my intention was not to spam or create promotion. The free and open database on www.rootdown.us is an impressive and professional collection that is expandable by its members. By adding this link I thought it would be an improvement to some of the other, less expansive sites on Traditional Chinese Medicine in wikipedia. I hoped that editors here would agree that rootdown.us is entirely relevant to information on herbalism, traditional chinese medicine, acupuncture, etc. I better understand the guidelines now and I will wait for some other unaffiliated contributor to add a link instead, which is likely to occur. As for the site being in Beta, I didn't know that was also a restriction, as I see links to other more popular sites referenced on wikipedia that are in perma-beta. I will of course stop adding links to this, to avoid being removed from wikipedia, a project I am also involved in, admire, and support. I appologize for the inconvenience and my naivete as a contributor. Thanks for your feedback--Scootdown 9:32, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
