No worries, though I guess I should mention your welcome was based on the template {{w-basic}} :-)
If you're looking for articles to copyedit, you can find more than you could possibly ever want at CAT:COPYEDIT. There's currently a drive underway to reduce the massive backlog. I'm not aware of any way to search specifically for articles in US English, though so long as you don't arbitrarily change from British spelling to American, it's really no big deal (the policy is at WP:ENGVAR).
And not to worry about leaving an article in an imperfect state... Perfection is not required, and any edit that improves the 'Pedia is welcome.
