Saccharomyces pastorianus
A radical revision of the Saccharomyces pastorianus. A lot of thought has been put in and you are to be congratulated. I have been out the industry for a couple of years, so perhaps you would be able to reassure me on a few points. You have deleted pastorianus being a hybrid of cerevisiae and bayanus, despite strong evidence that this is the case. Would you be able to opint me to a reference that makes case powerfully?
- Thanks Steven. A lot of that content was not actually added my myself but merely a reorganisation of the article. The content about the hybridisation of bayanus and cerevisiae is still in the article, and I have just added a reference to this fact. ◄§ĉҺɑʀκs► 00:45, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback. You have certainly improved the article very much. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Stevendavy (talk • contribs) 23:50, 4 February 2007 (UTC).

Yeast-stub
Hi - I see you have created a new stub type, Yeast-stub. As it clearly explains at WP:STUB, and at the top of most stub categories, all new stub types should be proposed prior to creation at WP:WSS/P, so that they can be checked for viability, and to make sure they don't go against either the stub category hierarchy or stub naming conventions. It even says this at the top of the category you created! In the case of your new stub type, it was not proposed, and unfortunately the chances of it reaching the threshold level of 60 currently existing stubs seems very slim, especially sicne there are less that 60 articles on yeasts in total in Category:Yeasts. The stub type has been listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Discoveries - please make any comments as to the reasons for and possible population of this new stub type. Be warned that it may be nominated for deletion via WP:SFD if it is deemed not to reach normal stub type criteria. Please, in future, if you wish to create a new stub type, propose it first! Grutness...wha? 06:47, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for Cape Schanck, Victoria image help
Appreciate your help on this. I had asked User:Orderinchaos78 (info box creator) for help also - but you beat him to the punch. VirtualSteve 09:09, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thats ok, I have his talk page on my watchlist and thought I'd help out. For future reference you only need to have the image name for the
image
field. Eg you don't have to put "[[Image:XXXX.jpg]]" but just "XXXX.jpg". ◄§ĉҺɑʀκs► 09:13, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
Re: Wikiproject banner
No problem, Scharks. :) I saw what you were trying to do with the "mcb-yes" argument in your template, but unfortunately MathBot associates articles with projects based on their membership in one or more categories, and the new template didn't include those additions. Oh, by the way, I found a few articles that I thought really belonged in Micro, so I moved them over completely. If you need any help setting anything up, just let me know, and I'll be very happy to help. Cheers! – ClockworkSoul 00:26, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Gram-positive merge tag removal. why?
I'm curious as to why you've removed the tag. cow_2001 22:26, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Cow2001, I removed the tag due to comments at Talk:Gram staining, some of which provided a good arguement as to why there should not be a merge. It also seems that this was not the first time the article was tagged for a merge. One comment sums it up best "I also oppose merging Gram Negative with Gram Staining. I arrived at Gram Negative from Proteobacteria and took that path because I was interested in the gram-negative properties of such bacteria. Gram Staining per se holds no interest to me." Thanks for your question. ◄§ĉҺɑʀκs► 23:03, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you very much, I'm convinced. ^_^ cow_2001 08:37, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Re:Yeast (good article)
I rethought my position on Yeast because after I just accepted it I started reading through it and saw that it did not have many sources. Then I reverted my judgement.--Natl1 22:00, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks Natl1. I think the nomination may have been a little premature and I'll try to put some more work into the article, particularly in referencing. Is it possible to put GA on hold until the changes are made? There has also been a recent peer review which has some great suggestions that I'll implement. ◄§ĉҺɑʀκs► 23:09, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Yeast looks really good - could be the first fungus as an FA; what do you feel needs doing before nomination? cheers Cas Liber 01:32, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- I feel that the reproduction and history sections need to be expanded. I'd also like to add a morphology section explaining the average sizes and shapes of cells. There are also some outstanding items from the peer review. I look at the article Bacteria to see how much more could be done, that article is amazing. ◄§ĉҺɑʀκs► 00:24, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

impressive editing of {{chemicals}}
Well done! Thanks. Wim van Dorst (Talk) 21:08, 28 January 2007 (UTC).
- You're welcome. I don't know if you've seen this yet but it is interesting, and shows there is a lot of unrated chemicals articles out there! ◄§ĉҺɑʀκs► 23:10, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- Indeed, a great edit, the template really looks nice now! About the graph .. there are almost 1800 articles that did not get the template, yet .. I have called in for bot-help. --Dirk Beetstra T C 23:13, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
My focus was more on this, which shows the core list. Doing the assessment and putting in the template makes it slow: I need to do another 300 here, too. And using your fancy template version makes it pleasant work. ps. Did you program all that yourself, or did you use another one as source? I'm working on learning more from other esoteric templates. Wim van Dorst (Talk) 23:53, 28 January 2007 (UTC).
- Fair comment about the assessment, it takes a while and I still get some things wrong. I copied most of the template code from other templates and modified it to work as intended. I've done the same to the banner templates for WP:MICRO, WP:WINE, and WP:FUNGI - all were based on the banner from WP:MCB. I saw that the WP:CHEMS template was new and could do with a "facelift" so that I did. I have also done a lot of work on WP:IAP which was where I picked up most of my coding from, most of which was trial and error anyway. If you'd like further modifications done, feel free to ask. Oh and feel free to change the image (ethanol) if you don't like. ◄§ĉҺɑʀκs► 00:44, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

- Hello! I saw yout tidied up the wine templates table. Could you change the heading color to light blue or something like that (anything is fine). The current blue is too dark and it belds in with the black font. Charleenmerced Talk 08:52, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Charleenmerced
- Hi Charleenmerced, I've lightened up the colour a bit. Let me know if you'd like it changed more. ◄§ĉҺɑʀκs► 11:39, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

- I thought you were referring to the {{Wines}} template colours! I know what mean now. I've worked out that for some reason the background colour appears dark blue for IE users, but for Firefox users like myself it appears an easy on the eye light grey. I've just patched it up and tested it in IE so I think its fixed now. Sorry for the mixup. ◄§ĉҺɑʀκs► 11:50, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Australian Winery Template
Did you have a reason for removing Australian from the template title? I rather liked it and I think Agne did also. --Bduke 21:35, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
- The convention for infoboxes is to not have the subject or topic of the box in the header, as this is usually obvious from the prose. {{Infobox company}} for example does not include "Company:" in the title. For longer winery titles this will also result in text wrapping which would be harder to read. If there is a good reason to have it put back in I have no problems with the change being reverted. ◄§ĉҺɑʀκs► 12:34, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- OK, I see your point. I have just added the infobox to Hardy Wine Company, replacing the general company infobox. It needs more work on the varieties. Have a look, as it is a good example of a large company and it may need changes to cover it better. I think it is still better than the general infobox. --Bduke 21:25, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed, you've done well. ◄§ĉҺɑʀκs► 21:59, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
