While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}

Disambiguation link notification for June 20
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Ian Hannam, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page PPE (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:13, 20 June 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Hello ScepticalChymist. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Ewan Kirk, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:ScepticalChymist. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=ScepticalChymist|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. scope_creepTalk 11:44, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks scope_creep. Nope, but let me know if anything needs to be changed. Follow financiers quite a lot & have added & amended profiles occasionally when I spot something. ScepticalChymist (talk) 12:58, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message
[edit]September 2021
[edit]You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 12:28, 22 September 2021 (UTC)
This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

[edit]Hi ScepticalChymist. I see that you are especially interested in editing the biographies of business people. Would you be willing to check out my edit request at Talk:Daniel Lubetzky? You've actually contributed to his article in the past, as well. Thanks for your help, SarahB2245dl (talk) 15:47, 5 October 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Undisclosed paid editing
[edit]Hi. I've gathered unequivocal evidence that you are an undisclosed paid editor despite denying so here to Scope creep. I shall therefore be blocking you, but if you wish to disclose, this will obviously be reconsidered. SmartSE (talk) 10:48, 7 January 2022 (UTC)

Mark Watkin Jones moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Mark Watkin Jones, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. scope_creepTalk 05:20, 8 January 2022 (UTC)

The article John Stapleton (entrepreneur) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Promotional article about a guy with a job. Most results when I try to find something to support notability are about a journalist with the same name. This article makes no meaningful claim to notability - only a handful of interviews and a single business award.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
