[edit]First I have been following your building of User:Sbmeirow/HowToUploadPhotosToWikipedia and have a few questions/suggestions. You say to make an flicker account, is that just if you want to upload ( explain term for us dummies/newbies) pictures or does it help in the transfer of pictures to Commons? I am not a picture taker (at least not yet), the digital camera I received as a gift a few years ago seems to be malfunctioning. You also suggest making the username the same or close to the same on Flicker as your Wikipedia user name, other than ease of remembering is there other reasons? In the Source - US Census Bureau section under Get Map I suggest you move the "The file name is critical, since it will be used by Wikimedia Commons during your upload." and add your WARNING message up to be a #2 below #1 1.For Windows, right-click the map drawing, then choose either "Save Picture As..." or "Save Target As...".
I know this is a sandbox under construction but in case you have not thought of it . . . for us dummies every entry box (field) at Commons needs a detailed explanation even if it is for example "|Permission= (leave blank) " also I suggest a "possible problems and solutions section" for each entry box. And lastly I suggest you Start your instructions from the "Upload file" button that is clicked in the menu on the left side of a Commons page (where us dummies would start) as it goes to a page with 10 choices. Now to praise you for your initiative to make this helpful uploading pictures page - it spurred me to start up a red-linked division of Wikipedia:WikiProject Iowa called Wikipedia:WikiProject Iowa/Communities Thank you for the inspiration.

- Thanks for the interest.
- Not taking photos, yeah, I need to add 2 new sections, how to find and add categories to photos in Wikimedia Commons, and how to find and upload other peoples photos that are already on Flickr and other sites.
- File name. heck I don't know what wikipedia is validating with their bot, so I decided to put a lot of effort on the text on my Flickr side before I upload to Wikimedia. The upside of doing this is that by the time that I get to uploading the photo to Wikimedia, then my description is well thought out and accurate, so I just copy description text from Flickr andd add wiki-links to it.
- Yes I agree on the file name being critical. I need to find a small font sized warning symbol or something. I also need to learn how to change text color, so I can make critical things RED.
- Yes, I plan to explain what I did to every field, even the blank ones, but haven't had a chance to get that far yet.
- I still have a lot of work ahead of me to cover all cases....but I have to start somewhere :-)

- I have you on my watch list so I may be jumping the gun in responding but I just wanted to say that I am aware it is under construction but also to make you aware that I the code to make text red is <span style="color:#FF0000"> to make text red </span being careful of spaces, check the edit code. And of course you can use any colors found on Web colors. I have found that using the 6 digit hex code (ff0000) (small or caps makes no dirrerence) works the best. Carry on.--RifeIdeas Talk 19:22, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
