Welcome

[edit]

Hello Satishdahiya and welcome to Wikipedia! We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your contributions, such as the ones to Wikipedia:User page design center, do not conform to our policies. For more information on this, see Wikipedia's policies on vandalism and limits on acceptable additions. If you'd like to experiment with the wiki's syntax, please do so in the sandbox (but beware that the contents of the sandbox are deleted frequently) rather than in articles.

If you still have questions, there is a new contributors' help page, or you can click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia.

I hope you enjoy editing and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! —andrybak (talk) 11:47, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Satish Dahiya", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because usernames which might be interpreted to represent a specific identifiable person (like the person which is the subject of this draft for possible article) are generally not allowed except as a real name as explained in WP:REALNAME. Since the subject of the draft "Satish Dahiya" is supposed to have been killed in 2017, there's no way this account to have been created by him. So, if the editor behind this account is also named "Satish Dahiya" and would like to user his real name as their username, it would probably be a good idea to have their identify verified by Wikimedia OTRS to avoid any misunderstandings. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:13, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi "Satish Dahiya". You appear to be trying to create a Wikipedia article about someone who has that same name. For obvious reasons, you cannot be the "Major Satish Dahiya" who is the subject of the draft you're working on, but perhaps you share the same name as him. If that's really the case and you want to use your WP:REALNAME as your username, you might want to consider having your identity verified to avoid any confusion.
It also seems possible that you simply choose the username "Satish Dahiya" because you mistakenly thought you needed to do so in order to create a Wikipedia article about "Major Satish Dahiya". That's not really the case at all and is quite a common mistake made by many new editors trying to create articles. A user page and a Wikipedia article are completely different things and there names don't need to be the same. So, if this is why you chose the username "Satish Dahiya", you should consider changing your username to something else to avoid any problems. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:25, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest editing

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Satish Dahiya. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page User:Satish Dahiya/sandbox, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:26, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you're connected to "Major Satish Dahiya" in some way, perhaps a relative or friend/collegue, then you should take a look at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest (particulary WP:COISELF) and Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide for reference. Wikipedia doesn't expressly forbid conflict-of-interest (COI) editing, but it does highly discourage it and relevant guidelines related to COI editing may apply to you if you do have a connection to Dahiya. This doesn't mean that a Wikipedia article about Dahiya can never be written, and you can continue to work on the userspace draft for the most part without having any problems with other editors. You should, however, not really WP:MOVE the draft to the article namespace yourself; instead, you should submit it to Wikipedia:Articles for creation for review and let a reviewer move the draft if it's determined OK to do so. When your ready to submit the draft for review, just ask for help at the Wikipedia Teahouse or Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk and someone will help you to do so. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:32, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
